A while later…
Haah-, formalities this, formalities that. I am desperate for this to be over, I am so tired I can close my eyes for one second and pass out instantly.
Everything I have been listening to has been this person talking just to talk. If you are going to talk, then talk properly.
「Hence, we are now finished with the formalities. We will now recite the following rules required to stay in this organization.」
Nice. Just in time before I was about to go to sleep for eternity.
「1. New missions and tasks require you to do numerous works and others not listed. Otherwise, you are at the office to work on the company work assigned.
2. Regarding missions, as the establishers of other world interconnections, we travel to destinations of other worlds. If you cannot handle the world you are currently in, you may switch out your place with another.
3. Office days run when you have no missions and tasks. The running time to get a mission or task is around 1-2 weeks, more or less. The average mission should also take approximately three months or more as well.
4. We provide for your necessities, such as basic needs of living and housing options, in exchange for work in establishing the connections between worlds. If you could not handle the simulation, you would not be able to handle the rest that is to come.
5. No income will profit from this as we are a non-profit organization. We will provide you with necessities for basic living, but there will be no monetary gain. Please only try to establish peace. Incompliance with the rules will result in consequences.」
It might be me, but I understood nothing of what they said! I think I truly need to pay attention sometimes. I feel as though if I did, I would still not understand.
I guess some things do not need to be understood. Besides, say, the missions and the pay? Sounds like a normal office job if I ignore that aspect…which I can't ignore, so I would say it's perhaps a little bit of a 'unique' office job.
Although, it is a tad bit cool that I can travel to other worlds. I would have never thought being poor would lead to being a dimensional traveler.
「That will conclude the annual opening of The Organization of Universal Unity and Peace. We will provide more information if you decide to stay for more than a month. We sincerely hope you consider joining the organization permanently with the right intentions.」
「Thank you for your time. We will commence again next week, please check your messages after this announcement to confirm lodging and dining as well as personal information and details.」
Right intentions? How hilarious since no one had the right intentions in the first place. I wonder how delusional they are to have these thoughts, but they likely all know it is for formalities' sake.
Well, let's see if I can stay for over a month. I can think of it as a new challenge.
「Everyone, please follow the guides to the separate exit out of the building. Thank you…, Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you-」
The robotic voice had to start up again as we all exited out. Really? Truly? Agh, this is driving me insane.

I quickly exited, slightly covering my ear with my left hand as if I was leaning it against my cheeks. Not enough to be noticeable and definitely helped one of my eardrums as I left. What a terrible sound to be heard constantly.
Just then a message popped up on the oldest phone to ever exist. I know it's bad, but what can I do in these circumstances? I wouldn't even have a phone if someone hadn't thrown it in the trash.

Every time I see the word slums, I can only remember this rich man dressed head to toe in luxurious brand names that can afford a house saying, "Take pride in your life! You'll get there soon!" As he walked through the streets disgustingly. I will never forget his twisted face, how utterly, terribly, ugly he was. I could not stand it. We could not stand for it.
Of course, we were obviously all embarrassed to take pride in being so broke you are homeless, it was thoughtless of him. "BAAM", a noise was heard, echoing through the alleyway where we all slept. In return for the behavior, a punch came from Ardan. Then all of us broke people proceeded to beat him up. I watched from the sidelines as it was too crowded to join in, it was well deserved till his bodyguards caught up with him and we all had to scramble.
Now that I think of it, what would I call us? Slummers? Broke people? Mishaps? I quite like the latter actually, well it doesn't matter when every nickname we have ever been called under the sun has all been the same anyway.

I was contemplating if I should just back out of it. A part of me was scared for what was to come next but I mustered up the courage to type in a resounding "YES" through text. Haah- perhaps it was too long of a day to stay awake. I'll let future me deal with the contract and the consequences that will likely come later.
For me, it was time to sleep on the cold, hard, pavement floor with a singular ripped-out pillow. From this perspective, you can see almost every Mishap along all the alleyways in the section which was sort of a depressing view. Very self-deprecating.
I decided to sleep next to this kid named Riley this time, she had blonde hair and big adorable brown eyes staring at you with cheeks puffed up. She wore an oversized jumper with this white and black color scheme and was quite small for her age, around 4 foot? Her cheeks were especially squishy and chubby today, I couldn't help but squish her a little while hugging her. Super cute kid, I can't help but feel pity even when I'm in the same boat.
"Hiya Rika! Are you having your afternoon nap?"
"Ah, yes. I hope you don't mind if I sleep next to you this time."
"Of course nah! We all love you, including me! I love you more Rika. Nighty night!"
"Haha, I'll take that as a compliment," I said while squishing her cheeks, she pulled away with flushed red ears, embarrassed.
"Night, Riley. Wake me up when it is near night if you are still awake, if not get Ardan to do it."
"Owkay! Have sweet dreams!"
As I fall asleep, I wish for every Mishap a sweet dream, and an even more sweeter life later on.
People like Riley and Ardan should not be stuck here. I hope I can get them out soon or they grow older to do more things so they don't have to rely on me or beg.
