Goals

The next morning I woke up with a pleasant smell in my nose.

It really smelled nice, I go to wash myself up. I entered the bathroom after a short knock. And to be honest after seeing the slim face for the first time after entering space, I was baffled.

I still had my brown hair with a lenght that could hide my eyes if I don't put them aside. My green eyes show a little of the mature sharpness, but since children had to grow up faster and while watching more cruel things, nobody seemed to notice. Aside from my face, even my whole body was kind of slim. You wouldn't know how small you are when you were young unless you saw it with your own eyes. Well I could see it and still couldn't believe the scrawny boy at the other end of the mirror was me.

But before losing myself in to many unnecessary thoughts, I go to the living room.

"Good morning.", I greeted the family a little shy, as I honestly felt a little embarrassed to disturb their family time together.

It felt like the time in my past life when I crashed on a couch from a friend, who was in a happy relationship at the time, so I bailed as soon as I could.

But now the three didn't seem to mind as much.

"Morning, lad.", Te'su says.

"Mark, you can sit down here. I hope you like it.", Vetedi guides me to the chair beside Eleena, who just nods friendly with full cheeks.

"It already smells fantastic.", I compliment her.

And honestly I was truly surprised, as the few food you get to see in the films isn't quite looking enjoyable for a human stomach.

Especially the bars and cantinas had horrendous things.

But the breakfast on the table was just looking a little exotic.

I just felt like dining in a different country instead of another universe even if some plates were more colourful than you would expect.

"Well eat up, lad. After this I'll show you the basics. At the beginning it is mostly cleaning, watching and passing me tools or parts. Not much different from the other workshop."

"Alright, boss."

We both smirk at each other.

15 minutes later he made a tour with me, similar to the one Jaina gave me a few days back.

"The front is used for droids the shop sells. There are only a couple. After that are those, brought to repair. I repair from small maintenance to major module changes. Most customers are the pilots, who repair their ships a few blocks away. They bring their astromechs. A few richer residents or have servant droids, but my low-key workshop doesn't attract those.

If I get a servant droid in, they come mostly from the merchants on those spaceships.", he explains to me.

"Are the droids you sell self-made?"

"No, no. They are from the smaller local factories.", he answers my question.

"But you know programming?"

"Of course. I need to see if thd problem is in the code or the module, but 95% of the time it is a problem with the physical body."

What followed was the same as before. Learning, cleaning and assisting, but what sounds boring to others was a great experience for me.

Well except cleaning. Honestly boring.

But I found a problem. The programm here was similar to the binar code, but at the same time it was a lot more complex. What I don't know is if other languages for programming exist and if not, are they better or worse?

I think they are simpler, yet aren't advanced enough to make a droid come to life. That's something to figure out.

The following days are exhausting yet rewarding. I worked with Dax on spaceships and with Te'su on droids in the late afternoon. On my 'free' days I help out at the family workshop the whole day.

Weeks passed and my first paycheck from Jaina is close.

Oh and I have so many ideas I wrote down as notes in the last month.

What do I want achieve?

- Owner of a cool spaceship or fleet

- Making capable droid (army?)

Why those two points?

Well to break it down, everybody into Sci-Fi wanted to possess his/her own spaceship. No wonders there right. And the most wholesome companions of starwars are droids. At least that's my viewpoint. R2D2 or BB8 are really adorable. And I you think about the advantages droids have, you want them as workforce to. Needing maintenance but not living space or food. Not breathing so surviving in space if they are cold resisting. Exchangeable modules or upgrading parts for knowledge and capabilities.

I don't have the illusion of the peacekeeper with my little abilities, but I want a chance to survive the coming troubles. Exploiting my canon knowledge should be doable if I would know which timeline I was in. I only know we are in the Republic era, which narrowed it down to a meager 1000 years.

Maybe spending some time outside to get information isn't the worst idea, but I wanted to survive with greater chance after my near death experience.

Getting a droid as a bodyguard or a weapon for self-defense is my goal.

So what should I get with my first paycheck, I wonder?
