Chapter 26: Objective Reclaimer
The Lieutenant looked at me with confusion, then began to pull a chain from out behind his flack jacket grasping his whistle in his hand, " What is your plan my lord?" I stared at those around me, these guardsmen have fought well, I can see it in there eyes and by the wounds they suffer from being shot in the arm or scratching the side of their head covering the eyes with blood or outright losing it, I looked back into eyes of the Lieutenant, I could see fear, I could see anger, yet that was not only what lingered in him for I see hope behind it all and courage to face the enemy head on even if death was certain for him and the lives of his squad.
" Lieutenant you and your soldiers have fought well in this battle and again this is the time to put our lives on the line, I have a plan to break through there lines but you need to keep that whistle handy." The Lieutenant looks around at his men tired but fighting, he turns back to me and spoke, " My Lord we have all lost hundreds if not thousands of brothers and sisters across the years never knowing when our time will come, but we only ask that our lives will not be wasted, so that we are not discarded, I know my words may seem heretical or disobedient but my men deserve to fight in his name and be given the chance to find a glorious death of their own."
Looking at him I could feel that he was intimated and scared by how I would react to what he has spoken even if he spoke from the heart and for the safety of his men. Yet his words have reminded me of my past and what I would do in his stead, " Lieutenant, many years ago, I had the same thoughts as you do now but the only difference between us is at that time when I lead 50 of my battle brothers to war, I was the only survivor until I found my Friend... we are what's left of one of the greats forces to ever have severed the Emperor." walking out of cover, bullets began to fly past me, with all my might I shouted towards the very heavens, " FOR THE EMPEROR!!!" With my sword, the last fang I ran towards the enemy lines bullets bouncing of and scratched my armour, I felt the very ground shake, Rylanor unleahed a warcry, " For the Emperor, For the forgotten, FOR THE CHAPTER MASTER!!!" smashing his cover away throwing the wing right into the enemies lines cut some of them in half and decapitating others, standing still he let loss a barage of rounds with his assault cannon, giving pause to any who dared try and shot me, yet some idots tried but was turn into a pink mist.
Looking back on my past I haven't called Rylanor my brother and yet we are whats left of a bygone era... surrounded by those who don't know of our sacrifice. Yet he is my brother not by blood, but by battle. Using my bolter in one hand I shot at targets who presented them selves, then I jumped into the trench corned by heretics and yes they are in number but my bolter and sword will make quick work of this filth, lunching a flurry of attacks cuting down multipule enemies, some in a single blow. Body parts began to fly around me as my bolter punched holes right into their body, The last fang enjoyed cutting through these vermin like a hot knife through butter.
As more enemies appeared from around me I would cut them down, thining the herd, I shouted towards our downed Thunderhawk, " Lieutenant Now!" a second later I heard a whisle blow, the sound of charging soldiers with bayonets and the sound of grenade launchers going off, a few more seconds had passed and explosins and las fire could be heard around me. Rylanor pushed up with the Lieutenant and his squads, the other two squads let loss their armaments on enemy morter positions and HMG (Heavy Machine Gun) positions. making short work of their forces but what concerned me was their were no officers amongest the bodies, making me think that they retreated before we had the chance to cut the head of this snake.
After regrouping with the squads that supported us and making note of those who didn't survive today, may they rest and let us carry the burden of their duty. We pushed through other postions that guarded their AA ( Anit Air) postions, they used Hydra's to take care of our airsupport, a mighty tank based off the Chimera the Guardsmens main armoured personnel carrier chassis bosting two twin-linked autocannons which tears through anything in the air, yet they stain it with the bodies of inoccents and heretical symbols. putting these corrupted machines out of there missery we used our anti tank launchers, taking out all three targets one after the other.
Making our way to the landing zone I noded to the Lieutenant let the Admiral know that we completed our mission, talking to the wouned communications officer he relaid the success of our mission, " My lord the Admiral sends her congrats and that reinforcements are in bound as well as The Hammer of Emperor." Looking towards the sky, where the clouds are thick and posion I enjoyed the sight of thousands of Valkyries carrying tanks and fresh troops for combat but the gem among them was The Hammer of Emperor, as the Valkyries made their quick decent to the ground and dropped off our forces, I stood witness to one of the Emperors greats creations... a Baneblade.
