Chapter 16: Diving Deeper into the Dungeon

Alex opened his eyes and the stony ceiling of his dungeon safe house greeted him.

Slowly he got up on his feet.

The first thing he did was to check out himself. He sighed with relief, seeing that his new clothes came with him to this place.

Then he looked at the table, on top of it, was his bow, quiver with arrows and his mace.

After picking them up, he walked through the doors to the main room.

The room was the same as he saw it last time, nothing changed, apart from the fact that three slots in the weapons rack were empty.

This means he cannot continuously get a new set of weapons.

'That like the dungeon is telling me to start crafting things on my own.'

With a sigh, he went outside.

Nothing changed outside apart from the first pine tree which had multiple holes in its tree trunk and markings on the ground where he used to measure distance.

After checking everything out, the first thing Alex did was put on his new pair of gloves and start practising shooting his bow.

~~~
Getting used to the new gloves was a quick affair, but what he noticed was the changes that came with his new strength.
The amount of power he had now was staggering to him, pulling the bowstring was utter child's play, and he felt no resistance at all!
Swinging mace casually created a loud whistling sound, and his Electrokinesis was more powerful than ever before!
After finishing these simple tests, Alex started walking into the forest.
It was time for proper exploration!
Just like the previous two times, he was greeted by a single wolf in the distance, there was not much expression from Alex who already expected that.
He quickly reacted to that by shooting an arrow that travelled at neck-breaking speed and rammed into the wolf's head.
Killing instantly…
Alex didn't celebrate or wait, he quickly moved forward with a simple dash.
Then, he pulled out his mace and swung it with a spin at the lunging wolf.
Sending another wolf flying into a pine tree, there were a couple of bone-breaking sounds from that collision.
Another one bites the dust.
Alex that moment observed if the carcasses disappeared after a set time, and it turned out they did.
After a few moments, they simply turn into blue particles and disappear.
It reminded him of how servants die in the Fate Series.
*Howl*
*Howl*
*Howl*
"Here comes the group…" Alex softly said to himself as he quickly started to dash up on a tree trunk.
Then quickly turned around sheathed his mace pulled out another arrow and shot at the wolf which had howled before.
His tongue clicked when he realised that his shooting sideways like this didn't have the best accuracy.
Even so, he hit the wolf's neck killing the canine in the process, as the neck doesn't bend in angles like that.
Three were down and another seven were left.
*Angry Growl*
Soon enough from the shadows, multiple wolves strolled out.
Alex didn't wait for them to make their entrance as he quickly started to shoot arrows at them.
After killing two in quick succession, the beasts started paying a lot of attention to his weapon.
The moment he released another arrow they started dodging quite successfully.
'Heh, they are quick to adapt, in that case…' He put his bow back and pulled out his mace.
The next thing he did was repeat what he did last time.
But, the difference was that he was nowhere near tired, and much more powerful than before.
Instead of just jumping down, Alex kicked off from the tree, and like a missile went into the pack leader.
Electricity crackled around as his Empowerment was active, now he was moved faster than the wolves could follow.
With the first downward swing, he broke the Pack leader's face, killing it instantly, and then he quickly swung the mace sideways, breaking another wolf's neck.
Then with a spin, he killed another one, only now did the wolves realise what happened. They started lunging at the individual who killed so many members of their pack!
Only it was not that easy for the wolves to hit the human!
His reaction times were multiple times that of a regular individual, and he could just feel them close by!
Trying to attack him!
Funny enough their try was so slow to him that he could feel that he could just walk circles around these mutts.
With a quick swing, he sends another wolf flying back with a completely shattered jaw.
Such a quick method of dealing with the beasts made them fall back, and fear and survival instincts started to kick in.
Their faltering was all Alex needed to finish them off as he lunged forward and his mace was crackling with electricity.
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*CRACK*
*Deep Breathing*
Alex looked around seeing all the corpses of the wolves laying all over the place.
"So, I could keep the empowerment at max for just around 5 to 7 seconds…" Alex inspected his left hand which was shaking now and numb.
But, it was enough to deal with a pack of wolves.
"Uh… even so…" He inspected himself, first of all, he was bathed in blood, the mace is a powerful weapon to smack someone's face.
In turn, it bathes the user in blood, not only was he red, his clothes already had several rips…
'Yeah, definitely the dungeon wants me to craft my stuff personally…' The joint areas show signs of ripping and there are some smoking areas too.
Meaning that the clothes can't handle electrical current flowing through them.
After the inspection of himself was over and he got a breather he witnessed how the wolf's corpses just disappeared.
He finally was over his first hurdle which cost him two lives, not an amazing win-to-lose ratio.
"Right, so, let's explore…" He said that to himself as first he collected the arrows and then started to progress.
~~~

Moments into his exploration he realised one simple and annoying fact.

And that is that he has no clue how to progress as everything looks the goddamn same!

The trees made it very confusing, as they looked the same and the tops of the trees were blocking the rays from the source of light…

'Hmm in that case…' Alex looked at the tree in front of him, as he started to walk on its truck, upwards.

'I will travel through the tops of the trees…' He thought with a smile.

Only that smile disappeared when he arrived at the top…

Just as he remembered the tops of pine trees have branches, and these branches were quite thick.

Now the reason why his smile disappeared was because of the height, he had never been afraid of heights before, but now…

He might well…

The distance between him and the ground was a big one.

'It's like travelling through skyscraper rooftops…' For a second he gulped down.

Alex took a deep breath.

'No worries if I slip I will just break most of my bones or simply die…' He grimaced at that idea.

He then looked around and decided to go up to the very top.

From there he could see a massive expanse of trees in all directions, there was no end to these trees in any direction!

It's like a sea of these pine trees!

The only single difference he notices is in the East, according to how the source of light is in the East.

There was a small clearing where his safe house should be.

'Hmm, in that case, that direction should be North.' He looked forward from where the East should be, then to the opposite of the East.

'Then this one should be West…'

*Sigh*

'All these directions look the same…' Alex thought with frustration.

'I suppose I should just pick a direction and just go with it.' He made up his mind and just decided to go with it.

'North it is then…'

He looked towards that direction and slowly descended on one of the longer branches and looked at another tree in the distance.

There is another branch not far from the one he is, it doesn't look that difficult, and he should not be afraid after dying twice and killing massive wolves which looked like they were from the ice age, but still… that fear still is there.

The first thing he did was turn on his electrical empowerment, this will allow him to stick to the surface just in case he will miss the branch.

Then he got to the edge as closely as possible, before jumping with everything he got forward.

It turns out he has too much strength, as he nearly hit the trunk of the tree with his jump…

'Damn this is embarrassing… not telling this to Julis…'

He shook his hands from pain as he needed to hold himself and not just hit the tree in front of him.

After this incident, he calmed down and moved forward once more.

Moving around the tree truck and walking to the edge of the tree branch then jumping on another tree branch.

Rinsing and repeating this action, which slowly got faster and faster...

To the point where it looked like he was a ninja from Narutoverse travelling through treetops.

When he would get tired he would rest, at that time he would train his magic energy separately from his Electrokinesis.

He started to experiment with his magic mostly using magical energy to give a shape to constructs and Electrokinesis to give it an electrical charge.

The simplest try so far was trying to copy Kakashi's Raikiri, the hand blade.

Turns out it's more difficult than he imagined, his power of Electrokinesis was nowhere near strong enough to cut anything…

It loses a lot of power when it leaves his body, even if it's to channel into magical build shapes around his hand.

Oh, he can give a very loud slap with his electrified hand, or burn clothes and give someone bad hair…

But, it's very far away from someone like Raikage's distinctive lightning armour.

Yet, it makes him quite excited that he can already make his hand crackle like Chidori.

After he felt refreshed he continued to travel, he even tried to include his training while he was running through the treetops increasing his speed even further.

~~~~~~Later~~~~~~
"Holy shit… is that an Ocean?" Alex looked from the top of the tree branch at the massive expanse of water in the distance.
Before he said anything more he noticed that water WAS moving!
"No… it's a river! Is it like Amazon? A river so wide one cannot see the other side…" He softly said that to himself.
Alex was trying not to forget his voice, as he tried to speak from time to time.
He had been running through treetops now for quite some time, he even tried to count to give himself some sense of understanding of how much time had passed.
So far he can roughly guess that it was a couple of weeks to a month from the time he started to jump from tree to tree.
Now, however, he felt like a goddamn monkey, as he quickly descended from the treetop masterfully.
He then looked around, looking if there were any of those pesky wolves.
Alex already had multiple encounters with wolves over the past few weeks.
He has over 27 white tickets and 3 uncommon ones from these encounters.
So far, he has not encountered any other creatures in this place.
He has no idea if the wolves even eat! It might be possible that they do not even eat like him!
'The most likely conclusion is that they only feast on a single thing…'
A gulp went down, as Alex realised that the only thing these creatures had eaten so far was him…
He quickly shook his head, deciding to forget about that, he walked over to the river and inspected the water.
It was crystal clear, and he could see the riverbed easily.
He cautiously looked around, even more, making sure no massive beasts were living in the water, he already learned his lesson with wolves.
Eventually, he saw that there was nothing there.
Still, he is not lowering his guard, as slowly, he undresses while looking around.
These were the fifth set of clothes, two pairs got wasted from running, and another two got wasted from all the blood…
A few moments later a satisfying groan escaped from Alex's lips as he dived into the water for the first time in weeks!
He swam around for a bit before he noticed something orange in the distance…
Whatever it was, it had an orange-like sail on top of it.
It looked like a fish, a very... big fish…
Alex quickly left the river before it got any closer.
The teenager looked closely at this creature before he realised what it was…
It had whiskers like some fishes from Earth, but not massive teeth the size of a human hand!
"It's a fucking Gajau from Monster Hunter…" Alex said with wide eyes as he realised what kind of Dungeon he has…
