Chapter 13: Chapter 12 | After the Duel (1/2)
As the game ended my duel disk started to ding with notifications, but deciding to ignore it, I looked over to Alexis's boat. Jasmine and Mindy still seemed to be in disbelief, but Alexis was frozen in place with her head down it seemed she was musing over the duel just now, after a moment she sighed and released all the stress in her.
Lifting her head back at me I noticed the invigorated look in her eyes, she smiled and I smiled back with a nod in recognition of her dueling abilities, after all if some of my Dragonmaid cards weren't so broken, compared to other cards in GX, I would have lost.
As I did so, all the tension from our previous duel seemed to slip away as the two of us recognized each others dueling ability.
Looking back at the duel, there were a few mistakes I made, but I felt reinvigorated, after all you grow from your mistakes and I was getting more accustom to my deck with every duel.
As the duel ended, Jaden and Syrus started rowing the boat towards the girls' boat. Syrus was relived to have avoided expulsion and Jaden seemed hyped about the duel he just witnessed.
''Seriously Illumi, what was with all your strong cards!? Let's have a duel next, I bet I could beat it'd be fun! Come on show me that sweet fusion card of yours!'' Jaden kept pestering me about dueling so I tunned him out, not that it stopped him from talking but Syrus was the only one left to deal with his hyper child like wonder.
As we stopped beside the girl's boat, I could still somewhat hear Jasmine's disbelieving voice.
''There's no way he actually beat Alexis....'' She mumbled.
As our boat's stopped I greeted Alexis with a smile.
''That was a good duel, I would have nearly lost at one point, if my Sheou wasn't such a great card.'' I said and Alexis slightly snickered at me praising my own cards.
''It wasn't close at all, I hadn't even done any damage...sigh...'' Alexis mused and I realized she was right, I had only damaged myself.
''But it was a good duel. I've learned a lot from it.'' Alexis added with a reinvigorated look in her eyes. It seemed that she had ignited some sort of drive to beat me or something.
''Yah, I learned a lot too, but... you'll keep your promise right?'' I added a bit sheepishly, it would suck to get expelled after all.
''A deals a deal, we'll keep quite.'' Alexis confirmed and I felt the tension leave my body.
''Phew'' I let out a relived sigh and judging by the similar ones coming from behind me, so did Jaden and Syrus.
''Well only Illumi beat you... So if you ask me, I say we turn the other two in, right now!'' Jasmine added with a bitchy tone.
''Well no one asked you.'' Alexis retorted, quickly shutting her down.
''Alexis!?'' Jasmine exclaimed sounding a little betrayed.
''Illumi beat me in a duel fair and square.'' Alexis stated.
''huh... seriously, why doesn't everyone just enjoy the duel...'' I unconsciously said while shaking my head.
''Uhm?'' But it seemed Alexis heard me.
''Huh... Enjoy the duel...'' Alexis mumbled, seemingly pondering over my words. After a moment she nodded her head and turned back to me with a smile.
''You're right, it was a really fun duel.'' She added with full sincerity in her words. Feeling slightly overwhelmed at how deeply she took my random muttering, I took a step back and awkwardly nodded my head.
''Alright, we've got class tomorrow let's head out.'' I said to Jaden and Syrus, receiving a nod back from them.
And so we headed back to our dorm.
