Chapter 65: Chapter 65

While the other creatures were evolving, Lin remained motionless. Only a small portion of the troops on the green carpet were used to repair the carapace and kill the smaller invaders.

Almost all of Lin's troops were in hibernation, and their cells had not changed much. Lin might be able to imitate other creatures and create an identical appearance, but due to the lack of variety of cells inside, there would be a considerable difference in reality.

However, one of Lin's troops was in a free state. Before hibernation, Lin had allowed it to swim in the water, and allowed its cells to interact with the outside environment like other creatures and evolve on their own.

Lin did not place any restrictions on it, aside from one point where it would replenish itself on the green carpet if it could not find food, it would normally hunt and avoid danger on its own …

It had lived for perhaps a hundred million years. When Lin woke up, she did not impatiently observe it. Instead, she first observed the other creatures in the water so that she could compare them.

Then … what had it changed into?

Leviathan …

Lin's thoughts carefully searched every cell, every structure, and quickly locked onto a faraway place … on a creature.

This was a former traveler, and also Lin's highest troop. Lin was looking forward to seeing what it had become.

Lin's thoughts quickly scanned through Leviathan's body. First of all, its original disc had become rounded at the front and pointed at the back. Its streamlined structure was somewhat similar to a fish.

As expected, this structure was more suitable for swimming in the water. Indeed, while its disc-shaped body could still swim very quickly by rotating, it consumed a lot of energy.

The 30 water spouts had also almost completely degenerated, but there were still two at its tail. Only two of its biting tentacles remained, one on each side of its head. The fanged mouth at the end had disappeared, and instead, it had grown into something similar to an arrowstone tentacle, covered in sawtooth suction cups.

It seems that all creatures evolved in the same direction …

The originally thick heavy armor had also become a lighter grey armor. The armor on its back had two rows of tiny tentacles, which seemed to be used for sensing.

And it was … smell!

The moment Lin discovered these tiny tentacles, she understood what was going on. It turned out that the cells on these tentacles could sense the minute impurities in the water, and know what was different about those impurities and where they came from.

The 'sense of smell' came from the 'sense of touch', which was originally used to sense vibrations in water. This was a very convenient ability. If combined with sight, touch, and smell, one would be able to move freely in any environment.

He had basically finished looking at the external structure of Leviathan. Now, it was time to look at the internal structure.

The Leviathan maintained its original combat style. The growth chamber in its body was its largest organ. It was connected to the six exit ports on both sides of the Leviathan's body.

In addition, it still retained its air sacs, cardiovascular system, and other organs. Just like before, the Leviathan did not have a mouth. Instead, it relied on food brought back by the army to break down in its food pouch.

The Leviathan did not have a brain, not even a ganglion. It seemed that even when Lin was in hibernation, it still maintained the ability to command every cell.

In addition, the Leviathan also had many strange structures. In addition to the exit, there were many holes on its body that could be opened and closed. There were also tubes that were connected to muscles in its body. These tubes were connected to a sac-like organ in the center that was filled with water.

… Why do I feel like there aren't many changes? The Leviathan was only three meters long. Even after a hundred million years, it was only twice its original size?

The largest creature now was ten meters long. It was much bigger than the Leviathan. In any case, the original Leviathan could still be considered an 'overlord'.

It feels like … a trap?

Lin suddenly found this interesting word, but she could not get it back. She was a little disappointed.

However, when Lin observed the Leviathan's troop types, this mood disappeared without a trace …

So that's how it is. Did the Leviathan put all of its evolution into this?

The Leviathan had inherited Lin's previous idea. After recovering its troop types, it would break them down and reassemble them the next time it needed to be used. Although there were no troops in the Leviathan's body now, Lin could tell from the Leviathan's memories that it had reassembled at least ten new troop types. Moreover, most of them had strange shapes. Lin had never seen a creature similar to them before.

In that case, it was time to test their power.

Lin observed her surroundings. This place was a body of water far away from the green carpet. The Leviathan must have swam here in the process of its life.

Below was a large coral reef. Lin quickly saw some familiar creatures. A three-meter long arrowstone was floating on a brain-shaped coral, staring at a distant helmeted fish.

It's you! Go!

Lin quickly assembled a new type of troop in the Leviathan's body. They were like small spheres, with some spikes on their backs. The abdomen of their lower bodies was bright red and had arthropods. They moved by spraying water.

Lin called this troop type 'Slaughterer'. They could kill their prey in an extremely cruel way.

The Slaughterer was only thirty centimeters long. It charged directly at the arrowstone's head. Seeing the creature charging at it, the arrowstone ignored the helmeted fish and extended its tentacles to try and catch the small creature.

The Slaughterer did not try to escape. Instead, it was caught by the arrowstone's tentacles and sent into the arrowstone's mouth under the pressure of the tentacles.

The arrowstone's mouth was at the center of the tentacles. It was an extremely hard beak. Under the pressure of the beak, even the sturdiest of shells could not withstand it. The Slaughterer's abdomen was bitten and it instantly exploded like a bomb.

However, this was only the beginning of the horror.

Countless small spikes shot out from the exploding Slaughterer's body. These spikes pierced into the arrowstone's tentacles and injected a strange liquid into the arrowstone's tentacle cells.

Lin did not know what kind of destruction this liquid could cause. The Leviathan did not have to put an eyeball in its mouth to see clearly like Lin did when it was alive. However, Lin knew what would happen to the creatures injected with this liquid.

After biting the Slaughterer once, the arrowstone could no longer take a second bite. It spat the Slaughterer out. Its ten tentacles wriggled madly together and used the sawteeth on its suction cups to tear off pieces of its own flesh. A large amount of green liquid sprayed out from its mouth.

Looks like it won't live for long. The Leviathan's scent tentacles could clearly sense the foreign substance coming out of the arrowstone's mouth. It was obviously its blood.

Perhaps the Slaughterer's body contained a powerful toxin or something that could cause extreme pain to other creatures. Lin Sanjiu really did not know how the Leviathan had evolved such a powerful toxin. It was even more powerful than a virus.

Furthermore, the Slaughterer's body was not consumed. Only its abdomen had exploded, while its main organs were under the shell on its back. The explosion did not affect its life at all.

Lin watched as the arrowstone slowly sank into the coral reef. She planned to check if there were any other creatures that could be used to collect food, but the Leviathan's scent tentacles sensed a strange presence slowly approaching.

The sense of smell was indeed useful. Some creatures could move their bodies according to the movement of the water current. It was not easy to distinguish between the water current and the creature, but under the sense of smell, even the most perfect ambush would be exposed!

The Leviathan suddenly accelerated to avoid the approaching creature. Lin quickly reassembled her eyeball to observe the creature that had missed behind the Leviathan.

That's …

A creature she had never seen before …

The creature was about three meters long. It had an oval head, two large jaws filled with sharp teeth, and a long flat tail that could propel its body forward. It also had two pairs of thick fleshy limbs on both sides of its body with sharp blades at the end.

These fleshy limbs seemed to be called 'hands' and 'feet', and this creature was called …

'Amphibian'.
