Chapter 47: Chapter 47

In the tranquil and boundless waters, a huge creature was slowly floating forward …

Life in the base was peaceful and boring, so Lin turned her attention to the Leviathan.

It had been two days and nights since they set off. The Leviathan swam across the vast gray beach and the seabed made of rocks. Unlike before, Lin was mainly swimming deeper this time.

The Leviathan had now arrived at a new place. It was also a beach, but the sand was finer and white. There was also a creature that Lin had never seen before scattered all over the area.

They looked like inverted jellyfish, sticking their short and round bodies to the sand and using a large number of tentacles with thorny cells to capture their prey.

Lin knew there was a word to name them... 'Sea Anemone'.

Sea Anemones were relatively simple creatures. They had no blood vessels or hearts, and there was a digestive sac in the center of their bodies that was responsible for digesting the food brought in by the tentacles.

They had no research value at all, and Lin did not like to eat them because they usually did not contain much after the poisonous thorns were removed.

The Leviathan lowered its swimming height and slowly floated on the beach. Lin named the tentacles with mouths below it 'Devouring Tentacles', but like the Devourer, they were only used to bite things and were not responsible for digesting food.

The Leviathan generally did not use its own eyeballs, but the eyeballs floating around it were responsible for observation.

Lin suddenly saw something moving in the sand below.

The Leviathan suddenly stretched out its tentacles, bit something in the sand, and pulled it out.

It was a trilobite.

There were many types of trilobites, and this was the fifth type that Lin had seen. This type was especially small and had a very thin shell. The Devouring Tentacles could completely bite it and crush it.

Lin would release a type of soldier called the Collector to collect the shells and cells of the bitten trilobites. It was about the same size as the Devourer. This type of creature mainly had a worm-like structure and was very flexible. It could swallow a large amount of food and expand into a ball. Its body was filled with a powerful dissolving fluid. It was responsible for swallowing and dissolving the food it swallowed and finally returning the nutrients to the Leviathan.

The Collector could also spit out the dissolving fluid in its body to attack, although it was not designed to attack.

After eating the small trilobite, the Leviathan continued to move forward. It had stored enough fat, so Lin planned to go on a long journey without stopping midway.

Lin mainly wanted to see some special environments that she had never seen before.

The sprinkler system sped up, and the Leviathan swam quickly on the white beach, but it soon stopped because an environment it had never seen before suddenly appeared in front of it.

The beach in front of her seemed to have been cut in two, and a huge rift valley appeared in front of her. It was long enough to extend beyond Lin's vision, and wide enough to hold hundreds of Leviathans.

Lin had never seen something like this before … Was this an ocean trench?

Lin realized that the new words were rather boring recently. What trench? They didn't sound imposing at all. They might as well just call it a rift valley.

… What was aura? Forget it, I don't care.

The Leviathan swam above the trench and looked down with its floating eyeball. It saw that the crack extended straight down into the dark abyss where light could not reach.

Should I go down and take a look?

Lin was a little hesitant, but wasn't the purpose of this journey to explore the unknown?

Go down!

The Leviathan slowly descended. There were many sea anemones stuck to the rock walls on both sides of the trench, and some small trilobites hanging around them. There were also many single-celled organisms floating in the water. It seemed that this was also an area rich in life.

After descending for a while, the light around the Leviathan became darker and darker. Lin released some swimming lanterns. This kind of unfixed light allowed Lin to see everything around her.

The closer she got to the depths of the trench, the fewer creatures there were. When the surroundings became as dark as night, it was difficult for Lin to see anything other than single-celled organisms.

Lin did not stop and continued to move deeper into the darkness. She released more lanterns, and these small swimming lights found some creatures that looked like sea anemones on the rock walls.

They had tentacles like sea anemones, but the body below was not the thick and round kind. Instead, it was a long and thin stalk. It seemed that they were not called sea anemones, but 'sea lilies', a new name.

It felt like a pretty good name.

The Leviathan swam close to the rock wall, wanting to pull one out to eat, but as soon as Lin got close, they would instantly shrink into the crevices.

The walls of the trench were unusually hard, so it seemed that it would not be able to eat them.

There were many sea lilies on the rock walls here, and Lin found that they were of different species. Some of them did not shrink.

Lin was not very interested in studying them. The Leviathan continued to dive deeper, wanting to see if there was anything else interesting.

The deeper the Leviathan went, the more Lin found a problem. It could be called 'pressure'.

The floating eyeballs and lanterns were the first to feel this pressure. They became difficult to move, as if they were being squeezed by a powerful force. Some could not even withstand the pressure and directly died.

Where did this pressure come from? It seemed to be everywhere. Could it be ….. the water?

Lin retrieved all of them and opened a hole at the edge of the Leviathan's disc-shaped shell. This hole contained the Leviathan's eyeball.

It was protected by a layer of transparent shell, which prevented it from being hurt, but limited its vision because it could not move freely.

Lin also released a kind of lantern with a hard shell to resist the pressure in the water.

But the deeper it went, the more obvious the effect of the pressure became. Even the Leviathan itself was affected. It became more and more difficult to absorb and spray water, and several cracks even appeared on the Leviathan's shell.

The pressure was terrifying.

It seemed that it could not go any further, but Lin did not want to give up. She had already calculated how the pressure worked, and at the same time knew what kind of structure could resist this pressure.

Of course, Lin did not want to change the structure of the Leviathan, so she created a new type of troop. Its body was oval, filled with water, and had a thin shell outside its body. This troop did not have the ability to swim. Once it was released by the Leviathan, it sank into the depths of the trench due to the gravitational force.

This shape should be able to effectively resist the pressure, but the most basic thing to resist the pressure was to fill the interior with the same material that created the pressure around it. This way, no matter how strong the force was, it would not be able to press in.

The Leviathan swam back. Lin had to heal its wounds. As for the exploration of the bottom of the trench, she left it to the oval little thing.

It was called 'Warhead'.

After a while, when the Leviathan was about to emerge from the trench, the Warhead felt like it had collided with something. It seemed that it had sunk to the deepest part.

At this time, the shell on both sides of the Warhead's body opened, and a total of six limbs stretched out. The limbs were also filled with water, so they would not be crushed by the pressure. At the same time, two holes opened on its head, and an eyeball and a lantern appeared at the same time.

The eyeball and the lantern were covered with a thin layer of transparent shell, and the shell was filled with water. This method was effective in resisting the pressure. Now, there was not even a crack on the Warhead.

It moved the small limbs around its body and began its journey into the Dark Abyss.

Because the Warhead was filled with water, it occupied the place where its muscles or blood vessels should be, so it could not move quickly at all. However, it was just for exploration, so it did not need to move too fast.

The ground at the bottom of the trench was made of rocks. Under the light of the Warhead's lantern, some single-celled organisms first entered Lin's vision.

Were they everywhere? Except on land.

Lin found that the cells in the trench were much fatter than the ones above. It was indeed a water-filled, pressure-resistant structure.

Just as Lin was studying them, a light suddenly lit up in the distance. The light was far brighter than the light emitted by the Warhead itself. It seemed to be emitted by some huge creature.
