Chapter 6: Chapter 6

The dead world of Eternal Night. The neighborhood of the newborn. The Forest of Menos.

"How long have I been wandering this desert? A week? A month? Maybe a year?" Pondered Silver two meters empty lying on the branch of a withered tree of gigantic proportions.

Just a little while ago it seemed to be simple. To interrogate reasonable empty people, and if the dialog doesn't work, to force them to give out some information about the surrounding world - that was my plan for the near future. But the reality made its corrections. The first blank, whom I met after the memorable fight with a cockroach, was not inclined to communicate. Neither was the second, nor the forty-second. After about a hundred fights with monsters was concluded that reasonableness among our brother is not in honor. And even when a miracle happened, I finally met a brother in reasonableness, it turned out that he speaks some Asian language, most likely Japanese. I didn't learn it. I wanted to learn it, but I didn't have time. "On the plus side, that centipede was very nutritious and tasty."

Battles are already boring: sneak, lurk, watch and at a convenient moment, when the enemy is distracted, deprive of limbs (if they have them), and start questioning alternating, if the client does not answer (most often they spit and growl), with a little torture.  Then a meal and a new search. And so on, over and over again. Boring. A change of tactics managed to brighten my boredom a little. But only for a while.

Sometimes the enemies would come out at me on their own, but all of them didn't even try to be cunning or use their brains. They just ran straight into my forehead. Although there was a benefit from one such kamikaze, I got pretty pissed off and fired a star at maximum. As a result, the enemy was destroyed in the dust, and I fell into a hole from the explosion (damn star all good, but blinds me a lot). I woke up in some forest, everywhere squealing, growling - in general noisy.

-Mrya? Where did I go? Into the woods?

Now it's clear that in such a situation it's silly to make noise, to put it mildly. But now. After the fall and the slight contusion, the landscape before me was awe-inspiring and disturbing. Huge dead trees with no tops in sight. Occasionally some red light flashes in the distance, outlining the contours of giant figures. And what does a reasonable person usually do when he feels unreasonable fear? Starts talking to himself of course! So I mumbled, which I immediately regretted. Creatures came from everywhere, all different sizes and shapes. At first it was my speed that saved me, but my level was already eighteenth, while my opponents had a maximum of ten. The creatures did not become less. On the contrary! The meat grinder was getting bigger and bigger. The generals, in my person, decided to strategic retreat. And now I, like an ancient warlord, was sitting on a branch and watching the battle, cherishing my devious plans.

-Mdrja, something strange is going on. Why do they keep fighting when there's so much dirt underfoot? Usually the empty, unthinking ones go straight for the corpse. I can understand those in the center, they have nowhere to go, but there's so much mud lying around the edges of the fight, and the monsters don't care. I'm going to climb higher, it's a bit uncomfortable.

While our hero was climbing higher, down below, in the thick of the battle, one of the many empty ones began to undergo a metamorphosis. His mask began to crack and white slime flowed from it. The monster itself froze, for which it immediately paid the price. A huge rabbit with claws instead of paws simply tore him apart...but he didn't live long. The mucus that had accumulated from the cracked mask came in motion. It flowed over to the rabbit and began to dissolve it, growing in size as it did so. When the poor empty one was done, the slime froze, which would shoot out numerous outgrowths in a second.

I was distracted from climbing the tree by (I almost fell down!) multiple howls of pain from below. In the place where the battle had recently been raging, I saw a surreal picture worthy of the first place in my personal top rating of the most disgusting memories.  More than a hundred empty, writhing in agony, slowly dissolving into some white stuff, it's not every day you see such a thing.

-O Mriaza Faka! Don't let your paws down!

A few seconds later, sitting a very long distance from the anomaly, I took a breath and watched the action with all my eyes. After dissolving all the monsters, the stuff began to congeal into a single ball. Then the ball shrank sharply, to the point where the once dull white slime turned the brightest of shades of whiteness.

-So what now?

And, as if hearing me, the balloon exploded, leaving behind a cloud of white dust. A few seconds later, I saw a phenomenon of mesmerizing beauty. A giant, long-nosed mask, white on the outside and bright black on the inside. But it was not the mask that attracted attention, but the multitude of multicolored sparks circling around it in a kind of round dance.

-Are these the souls of all the empty ones who fought here? - The cat asked dumbfounded.

The round dance went on for quite a long time. However, at some point, the violet-colored spark that burned brightest jerked sharply and collided with the dull blue one. This set off a chain reaction.

-They're even fighting now, aren't they? -Yes. Oh, creator, how beautiful.

A huge number of sparks collided, giving rise to a heterogeneous mass shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow. The sparks that scattered began to be attracted to this formation by some force. And when all the souls were gathered into a large, brightly glittering, multi-colored ball, the mask came to life, its mouth opened with a clanking sound and it roared.

-500 sound damage 700/1200, [stun] effect applied, [deafness] effect applied

"Devil! This is getting dangerous."

Rev did something to the ball: it vibrated, the number of colors began to decrease, and after a while the ball took on a purple color with streaks of red. As soon as the color of the souls became uniform, the mask began to slowly approach, its mouth enlarging to unimaginable sizes. The most frightening thing about this action was that there was absolute darkness in the mask's mouth.

The mask came close, opening its maw even wider. One! And the orb was swallowed. With a clanking sound the mouth closed and the mask began to transform: the nose crumbled, the once oval shape changed to triangular, the oval of the eyes changed to round, the beads of the eyes themselves lit up with blood-red light. The most unusual thing was the presence of two rabbit ears.

-Mrya? A rabbit or a hare? The mask may be triangular, but the features point to a rabbit. I wonder how the rabbit knows that. I've only seen rabbits in the form of kebabs in my childhood. The proverbial four-legged memory again? Or is it...

Distracted by this undoubtedly important conversation with himself, the furry blank didn't notice the change in the situation, but he should have.

What do babies of all species and races do at birth? Cry. The Menos Grande baby cried, in his own way. Using his only way of releasing excessive aggressive spiritual power. He used gray. The newborn Menos Grande with the rabbit mask concentrated a huge amount of his excessive aggressive DS in his open mouth, then instinctively made a hole in the sphere, for the energy to escape, in the opposite direction of himself. Toward a tree, with a rather cute white mutant cat perched on its top branch.

Zing!

Congratulations you survived the Sero Menos Grande beam!

"How many times? First almost gnawed, then almost dissolved, now almost fried! It's a dangerous place, though."

The pile of twigs and embers stirred, and in a minute the head of our hero appeared. He was a pitiful sight. His fur was scorched in places, his whiskers, once long and straight, were now either broken off or shrunken into an accordion, and his tail, his gorgeous tail, would have suited a rat rather than a self-respecting mountain cat.

"This forest is a dangerous but strangely attractive place. Compared to the desert up here, there's a lot of life here, and at least there's some scenery, and I'm tired of just sand dunes."

"That giant seems to be the Menos whose gene can't be obtained. Should I use one cell for the gene and integrate [Avenger's Lust]? No, I'll hold off. I don't know if there are any other requirements for the evolutionary method I like.  I can always choose an Avenger," I thought, sitting in a kind of tent made of branches. The laser beam had lowered my flesh and mental stats quite a bit. "When I grow up I'll spit at my enemies like that."

-Eh me. When will it ever be? I can't even score a fucking thousand points.

The scorched one is puffed up. He could have gotten the required amount long ago, but he didn't, constantly pouring all the essence he received into opening up the class and complicating his unique gene.

-Soon, very mrya soon I'll get this fucking class and be able to progress further-nrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. "Fucking system, who knew the maximum for the lowest blank is 50 points in each characteristic. And only getting a class pushes the bar back to 75 for non-profiles and 120ti for the four chosen ones. So I chose the four major traits, Strength, Dexterity, Control, and Wisdom. After clicking "Yes", I was informed that the class would be opened at five thousand essence...I don't know whether to cry or laugh. Five times what is required for evolution. That sucks. Why don't I look for a similar meat grinder? Maybe I can beat it and become a giant like you."
