Chapter 6: [6] Playing with Sylphy

In my previous life, for a long time, I was known as Rudeus the Muddy.

From this, you can see just how adept I am in the arts of earth and water magic.

If I were to put it in an analogy, it's like being the doppelgänger of some marine biologist, capable of striking you with such precision that you're left half-dead, gasping for breath but unable to truly depart from this world.

By these standards, I made those people cry and flee.

Hmm, I admit, this time I may have gone a bit further than in my past life.

But there's nothing I can do about it.

Even though I knew you folks weren't bad people, it reminded me of some unpleasant memories.

So, endure a little hardship, won't you?

Three children ran away in tears, and my gaze fell upon Sylphy.

With hair that's relatively long for a child, a dainty nose, delicate lips, a pointed chin, porcelain-like skin, and an expression like a startled rabbit, she exuded an unimaginable beauty.

Hey, hey, hey...

What did I have to do in my past life to mistake such a pretty girl for a boy?

Was I blind?"

"Are you alright? Did you get dirty?"

I crouched down slightly, and my clothes accidentally got a bit muddy, but I didn't mind.

"Um... um... it's... it's okay..."

Sylphy looked at me with a timid expression.

Uh-oh...

No, this isn't good!

Little Rudy seems to be responding!

Just like back when she cured my ED at the magic academy, Sylphy successfully made my little friend stand at attention.

But I'm only 5 years old?

No, I have to hold back and not show any strange expressions.

"Put your things aside and kneel by the nearby ditch."

"Huh? Eh?"

Sylphy seemed a bit puzzled, but she did as I said.

She's really obedient.

She's always been that way, whether on the bed or now, Sylphy is very submissive and well-behaved.

But this kind of obedience and docility should be reserved for just me; others should be dealt with more firmly.

I released water magic, heated with fire magic, and gently poured it over Sylphy's head.

"Wah!"

Sylphy thought she was being bullied again and tried to escape in a panic.

But that won't do, she needs to get properly cleaned to avoid getting sick.

So, I grabbed her delicate wrist and forcefully washed her all over.

"Very good."

After the wash, Sylphy's thin clothes became transparent, revealing a familiar silhouette...

Ah!

Little Rudy, you can't do that!

This isn't the time for you to show up, you know?

I quickly held back my lower half. It's really troublesome, isn't it? This body inherited the bloodline of the Grayrat family, and it seems to have no defense against women.

Darn it!

I used fire magic to warm the air and used a handkerchief to dry Sylphy's body.

Once her clothes dried, the previously subtle effect disappeared.

Little Rudy remained dormant.

"Th-thank you," Sylphy stammered.

"The next time you encounter something like this, give them a good beating, or else they'll keep bothering you."

"But if I resist, there might be even bigger kids coming..."

"Then you take down the bigger kids too!"

"How can I possibly do that..."

Sylphy looked embarrassed.

I smiled.

"You're not easy either, getting bullied just because your hair color is similar to the Superd tribe."

"A-are you okay with it?"

"Because my teacher is also a demon, so I don't have any biases. By the way, what race are you?"

"I... I don't know."

Sylphy pursed her lips slightly, looking a bit lost.

"My mother is a human, and my father is half-human and half-elf."

"Quarter-elf blood, huh..."

"Even though my father says... I'm not a demon... but, my hair color, it's different from both my father and mother..."

As Sylphy spoke, she started to cry, feeling helpless.

It's really not easy.

I couldn't help but pat Sylphy's head, being gentle with my touch.

I know the reason.

Sylphy, like me, has something called the Laplace Factor in her body.

That's why she has green hair even though she doesn't have demon blood.

But there's no point in talking about it now. After the Metastasis event, this green hair will turn white.

I like both colors, you know?

"Are you going to bring food to your father?"

I asked.

"Yeah..."

"Then let's go together. I'll go with you."

"Huh? Why?"

"You see, those guys from earlier might come back. If you get bullied again, it would make me look bad, wouldn't it?"

"Uh, yeah..."

Sylphy nodded in a daze.

So obedient and well-behaved.

But I'm sorry, Sylphy, I lied.

Those guys definitely won't come back.

I just wanted to spend more time with you, that's why I said we should go together.

"Um, thanks for protecting me," Sylphy said.

"We're friends, you know. Friends should help each other."

"A-Are we... are we friends?"

"If Sylphy doesn't want to be, then let's forget I said anything."

"Oh! S-Sorry, I didn't mean that... Rather, thank you for wanting to be friends with me..."

Due to her hair color, Sylphy didn't have any friends in the village.

So, hearing that I was willing to be her friend got her a bit too excited.

Hmm?

You're asking how I could tell?

Come on, her ears were practically spinning like little fans.

It was the same in my previous life. Whenever Sylphy got excited or shy, her long ears would flutter nonstop.

She's just too adorable.

"Let's go!"

I said while naturally taking Sylphy's hand.

"Um..."

Blushing, Sylphy nodded.

We delivered the meal to Mr. Laws and then had a blast playing together.

.....

After escorting Sylphy back home, I was in a rather pleasant mood.

It had been a long time since I played with my wife, although it was a bit regrettable that a child's body couldn't do everything an adult's could.

However, before entering the house, I tempered my emotions a bit.

Because I knew that Paul's mood right now wasn't great.

Sure enough, he was standing in the entryway with an angry expression, his hands on his hips.

Memories started flooding in. In my past life, I had argued relentlessly, and this had caused Paul to lose confidence as a father.

But not this time. Because Paul is my father.

Even if it's just acting, I need to make sure he feels better. That's what I should do as his son.

So...

"I'm sorry, Father!"

I approached him and immediately bent down earnestly.

Paul was taken aback for a moment, but he quickly resumed his angry posture.

"Why are you apologizing?"

"Because I did something bad outside today."
