After hanging up the phone with her father, Jaylene sat on the sofa in a daze. She had forgotten to turn on the fan, and the August heat was somewhat frightful. Quickly, the sweat wet the back of her clothes.

As sweat beaded on her forehead, she couldn't help muttering, "Why is it so hot," as she stood up to turn on the fan.
