Chapter 458: System?

"Alright. Stop it, Big Sis."

Arkhan's arm rested on Morgan's shoulder, halting her next move.

"Why?"

Morgan turned her head, her eyes, now back to their human shape, puzzled as she looked at Arkhan.

"Do you know that because of him, Lily is now troubled by Momo's matters every day, losing her appetite, only eating three bowls of food each meal!"

"I know..." Arkhan nodded. "But Merlin is important to us right now, otherwise I wouldn't have called him over."

"Besides eating, drinking, gambling, and whoring, I don't know what else this scumbag is good for." Morgan disdainfully glanced at Merlin. "Besides, I'm much stronger than him now, anything he can do, I can do better."

Arkhan sighed, then briefed Morgan on the situation with Tiamat's situation.

After listening, Morgan's expression became serious.

The impending awakening of the Goddess of Beginning was a true doomsday-level disaster. Even compared to the original civil war of Britain, this level of disaster was far worse.

"So, you need Merlin's illusions to delay the awakening of Tiamat?" Morgan asked, her eyebrows furrowed.

"Right." Arkhan nodded. "I've seen your progress over the years, but this is the kind of thing only Merlin can handle."

After being silent for a while, Morgan sighed.

Merlin was indeed unparalleled in the art of illusion, and she admitted that she couldn't compete in that regard.

"But, if you're really upset, you can always give him a good beating. I've already sealed his magical energy, so he won't be able to fight back." Arkhan added, pausing before continuing. "And of course, if one beating isn't enough, we can always do it again. With me here, no matter how serious his injuries, I can heal them."

Upon hearing that, Merlin's smile faltered on his face.

"Forget it..." Morgan said, dismissing the idea. "He's just a Servant now. Beating him won't solve anything."

She then glanced at the irredeemable scumbag.

"And besides, I've made some progress in studying the Power of the Island recently. I'll soon be able to pinpoint his actual location."

Upon hearing that, Merlin's gaze flickered slightly as he began to ponder how to escape from the British Isles.

Maybe he could hide back in Avalon? But Morgan was also the Fairy of the Lake, so she could easily find him there as well.

What should he do?

Merlin thought with all his might for the first time.

"You have a point..." Arkhan agreed. "Anyway, he's doomed to die. Once Tiamat wakes up, she will wipe out everything, and he won't be able to escape."

"Your Majesty, that's a bit unfair..." Merlin complained, giving his king a resentful glance. "After all these years of service, now you're sending me on a suicide mission... It's like burning the bridge after crossing it."

Hearing his nonsense, Arkhan gave him a cold look.

'You messed up my daughter to that extent and you're talking about burning the bridge? If it wasn't for the fact that I've decided not to roast you on the spot with the Might of An-Utu, you'd already be burned to a crisp.'

After thinking with irritation like that, Arkhan turned to glance at Gilgamesh beside him and sighed softly.

"Sorry to have made you witness that embarrassing display."

"No worries, I quite enjoyed the show." Gilgamesh waved it off nonchalantly, a pleased smile hanging on his face. "But I do think a girl wielding an axe isn't half bad. At least it's more impressive than spears and swords and such."

"Gilgamesh, perhaps you should be considering how to fend off the impending horde of demonic beast and those tricky goddesses, rather than delving into my personal affairs." Arkhan interjected with a poker face.

"Guhahahaha..."

Gilgamesh burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying the fact that after Arkhan witnessed his embarrassing display earlier, it was now his turn to witness the same on the other side.

Nothing could be more satisfying than this.

Seeing Gilgamesh laughing, Arkhan's lips twitched slightly then shot a fierce glare at Merlin lying innocently on the ground, unable to help but sigh inwardly at his family's misfortune.

Morgan's face also bore a subtle hint of embarrassment.

She had been so blinded by anger earlier that she hadn't even noticed there were outsiders present. She had blurted out everything without a second thought, which was utterly disgraceful.

However, as she heard Gilgamesh's laughter, her mood gradually soured. Laughing so loudly at the disgrace of someone else's family in their presence was just plain disrespectful, even if he was a king.

Seeing Morgan clenching her fists and emitting a hostile aura, Gilgamesh stopped his laugh in time, clearing his throat and resuming his composed king-like posture, as if nothing happened.

As for Siduri, she fully embodied the refined demeanor of a chief priestess, remaining quiet and poised throughout. Her graceful and dignified presence greatly impressed Morgan.

"You're right..." Gilgamesh nodded, his face turning serious as if carved from stone. "Summoning Merlin was a success, and it bought us some time before the awakening of Tiamat, but our enemies remain formidable. Our situation isn't optimistic."

"When it comes to the real deal..." Arkhan shrugged. "We may have Merlin on our side, but that's not enough. We need more people to take on those demonic beasts."

"Besides, there are the goddesses." Arkhan continued, spreading his hands. "Sure, Tiamat is our ultimate enemy, but the Three Goddess Alliance also poses a significant threat. Ignoring them would be a mistake."

Upon hearing his words, Gilgamesh glanced at him, slightly surprised.

"You know about the Three Goddess Alliance?"

"I never go into a battle unprepared." Arkhan pointed to his head with a smile. "So, before we begin, I gather all the useful information I can get."

"In that case, I leave those goddesses to you." Gilgamesh said casually, not pressing him on where he got his information from.

"To me?" Arkhan raised an eyebrow.

"Mortals are too weak in front of gods." Gilgamesh waved a hand dismissively. "I'm busy with other matters, so I can't deal with those goddesses, so it's up to you to handle it. Use whatever means necessary to pacify those goddesses. I trust you can handle it."

After Gilgamesh finished speaking, suddenly—

...

[Quest Nine: Convince the Goddess of the Underworld, Ereshkigal, and the Goddess of Venus, Ishtar, to join the alliance of Uruk within five days.]

[Quest Reward: Third Divine Key - Seven Thunders of Retribution]

...

[Quest Ten: Kill the Goddess of Demonic Beasts, Gorgon, within ten days.]

[Quest Reward: Key of Blankness]

...

As Arkhan heard the familiar yet somewhat strange mechanical voice in his ear, a hint of surprise flickered in his eyes.

He thought the System had disappeared after all this time, but apparently, it was still there.

However, upon careful thought, he realized that he had only been appearing as a Heroic Spirit before, but this time, it was his true body.

Could it be that only by using his true body could he trigger the System's quest mechanism?

After pondering for a while, Arkhan decided not to dwell on the specifics and quickly nodded at Gilgamesh.

"Alright, it's on me then."
