Chapter 40: Ch. 40: Preparing for Namek

"Mistress has more knowledge than you or I. She wants two ships, so she'll get two ships." Shay told Bulma.

"Who's this 'Mistress?'" Bulma's inquisitive mind made her ask Shay. The Dragon girl clearly got irritated at that, since she couldn't exactly extoll my praises to everyone, so she just ignored the question instead.

"She wants the two ships to leave at very specific times, Miss Bulma." Shay told the blue-haired woman.

"Why?" Roshi asked, "Why does it matter that much when we leave, as long as we get there before Vegeta?"

Naturally, there was a very specific time that each ship needed to get to Namek at. Each ship was designed to take roughly a week to get to the planet, though we could override its programming to force it to skip certain sections of space in order to change that arrival time to ensure that the first ship got to Namek after Frieza'd gathered a certain number of Dragon Balls, while the second ship landed on the planet around the same time as the Ginyu force was probably going to.

We'd planned that pretty painstakingly, in fact, going through my memories in order to pin down the exact times that certain events were supposed to happen, compared to the positions and probably routes that certain people were at in current times. Doing all of that without breaking cosmic law by looking at the future was incredibly difficult, even for a think-tank with a road map of the future in their heads.

The original ship was slower. It was supposed to take them a months' time to get to Namek, but it'd taken them two or so instead, due to stupid detours that were going to be dealt with or avoided this time around. Since our current ships would only take a week, we'd decided to give the passengers a full two months to relax and train before they actually left for Namek.

During that time, we'd argue with Whis, iron out the details of the exact timespan that the trip would take, and deal with the stupid detours in a similar way to how we dealt with Goku's Snake Way detours. After that, the A-Team would leave almost the same time as the B-Team arrived on the planet, give or take a day.

"Two months?!" Bulma asked.

"Mistress says that everything will be fine. The needed time is two months. You'll either leave in two months, or the trip will take over two months." Shay told everyone.

"Gohan, are you sure you want to go? It'll be dangerous, you know. Especially since you'll be there without your father for a whole week or so..." Chichi asked Gohan, knowing that I'm not hesitating at all. She obviously really wanted Gohan to stay, but she wasn't going to force him, after seeing how desperate he was to grow stronger.

"I have to, mom. Piccolo'll be there with me, as well as Hanna and Krillin, so I'll be totally safe. It'll be great training, in fact!" Gohan said, trying to convince Chichi. Obviously, she wasn't excited by the idea, but she didn't say anything else.

After that, we disbanded to prepare for the trip over the next two months.

Shay stayed at Capsule Corp. to ensure that their unnecessary tests of our spaceship didn't somehow mess up our delicate engineering. I stayed with my family for the first time in a year, normal time. I dropped by the Core every now and again, but it was actually really fun to spend time with my family.

Chichi wasn't a perfect mom, but since she wasn't as pushy as she'd been in the anime, she was at the very least tolerable, as stubborn as she still was. Gohan, dad, and Uncle Raditz (who was staying with us for the near future), and I all trained together every day, allowing me to release a little bit more of my power every time, while Gohan got stronger by a surprising amount.

Apparently, Piccolo spent some time on the lookout, speaking to Kami. Since he still hated the guy, the conversations didn't last very long, but it was a start. He spent the rest of the time training, similarly to Krillin, who I pushed into asking Goku to teach him the Kaio-ken, which I pretended to pick up from dad as well. Gohan tried, too, but he couldn't quite control the power output as well as the more experienced of us, making it unfit for real battle.

Meanwhile, the Core Girls were pretty busy, too. The two months for them was over a year and a half, after all, and during that time, they managed to do a lot.

They created a whole solar system, with the star that I used as the Core's sun at the center. There were twelve planets there in total, and each one had a slightly different ecosystem and average temperature.

They planted Saibamen on each planet, except for the Core itself. Each planet got a different strain of Saibamen, that they'd created after extensive testing and experimentation. Each type had a different disposition, or at least a different focus. They planted exactly 100 of each Saibamen.

There were the warlike Saibamen, closest to the sun. Built for extreme heat, incredibly tough. Their situation was the most difficult, as most of the water on their planet was underground.

There were the docile Saibamen, second in. They also were naturally pretty tough, built for hot environments, but they weren't as violent.

The list went on, each type built for slightly different ecosystems, from aquatic Saibamen, to Winged Saibamen, to Freezing Saibamen on the furthest planet, who tended to be incredibly lazy and were only active for about one day for every Earth year, but had skins thicker than most steel doors. The experiment was to see how each type adapted further to their environments, as well as how they interacted with the ecosystems around them. It'd be slow going, but my girls and I had all the time in the world to keep watching it, since all of my other family would inevitably grow old and die over time.
