Chapter 18: The Grind
Weeks had past and I was out in the manors backyard going burpees. A great cardio and, muscle building exercise. I also hated them. Though my desire for strength outweighed my hate. When I completed my last burpee I went into my extended pouch. Pulling out a potion a dowing it.
After a minute or so, a cooling sensation washed through my body. My muscle fatigue a strain was relieved and, I felt myself growing. Eventually, I plan to be able to get my healing charm to where it could do this. But, that was a plan for another time.
*Gggrrrrr.* The sound of my stomach caused me to exit my thoughts.
Time for breakfast.

A breakfast and a shower later I was in the manor basement. Specifically the dueling room. The room had large double doors. Its inside had practice targets littered around the room. With a marked out section for dueling.
A wave of my wand and my clothes all turned to rubber. I was also wearing dragon hide gloves which didn't conduct eletricity. The reason for all this was I wanted to try Flumens. It was very dangerous to try this spell as it very difficult to control.
Using my Occlumency to clear my mind of all thoughts. Calming myself I drew upon my magic. With my magic primed I let out a cry of.
"Fulmens!" In response to my call a small stream of electricity flew from my wand. The target in front of me a seconds later was pierced through and, recieved nasty-looking electrical burns.
Huh. Didn't expect it to work the first time. Repeating the possess again I got the same electrical discharge. Definitely, not the strongest the spell could be. Still wouldn't wanna get hit by it though.
"Don't see that everyday. A kid young as you using lightning." Sentence knock me immedately from my thoughts I pivioted on my heels a out stretched. After I saw the source of the voice it was Moody.
"Oh calm down. If I wanted to do something to you I would've already." I lowered my wand and contemplated. If he could sneak up on me like that others could to. I'd have to fix that.
"Enough day dreaming boy. Let's get started." Moody said firing a spell at me with no warning.
The spell then got deflected skyward by me. Then, I countered with a Glacius, Diffindo, Expelliarmus spell chain. Moody just shield them and sent a chain of hexes back to me. In response I summoned a training dummy to intercept the spells. Then a wave of my wand the dummy turned to seven sliver knives. And shouted "Depulso." to banish them at Moody.
Moody being as experience as he was just moved out the way and countered with something I didn't expect. He used the knives i'd sent him back at me. Before they could reach me they were vanished into nothingness.
"You really took that chain incident to heart didn't you." He said flinging a disarming and stunning spell at me with practiced ease.
"Yeah, how couldn't I it was really embarrassing for me." I replied defecting the spells.
"Embarassing, losing to me should be. I'd be ashamed if you won being beaten by a kid my pride couldn't handle it." Moody said smiling, and launching a volley of from what I could tell minor hexes.
I just transfigured the ground to rise infront of me then ran from it. Just in time for said wall to explode. In my new position I flung a jelly legs, stinging jinx combo at him. Knowing they wouldn't do anything and, he'd most likely defect them I used Levicorpus on him. Said spell didn't even get toward him before being deflected.
Then Moody when into offensive mode. Fast was all I could think as Moody fired spells at me with practiced ease. Everytime I tried to use something he'd counter it, or make me regret it by turning it on me.
I need space. So I channeled up my magic and used Avis. With my call a murder of crows appeared. Then using Oppugno, all the avians flew at Moody.
Knowing that'll only hold him for a second. I prepared-
"!" Suddenly the birds all vanished and, a red spell blanketed my vision. Not being able to move or shield, and I was hit by it.
All was black.

*Gasp.*
Gasping for air I awoke heart pounding. Reaching for my wand. Only to find it missing.
"Calm down. You just got stunned." Said Moody standing next to me.
"Ok. Where's my wand?" I asked Moody not concerned about the loss.
"Here." Said Moody my wand in his out stretched hand.
Taking it from him, I immediately felt a rush of power run through my body, I took a deep breath of air.
"You take loss better than many. Back when I was training new Aurors they'd always take horribly. Like they were supposed to win against me."
"I'd be very disappointed I won against you this early."
"That's a good mantality to have. Don't expect something you didn't work for."

I wanted to get a chapter out there. Another will be coming soon. I have a hard time with the Mc fight someone like Moody. I don't want he able to beat him yet.
This is like the fourth rendition of this chapter. I wasn't really able to capture the fight how I wanted at first but I think I got it with this.
