Chapter 46: Profound Potions

George had gathered all the supplies on the list that Maxine had passed to him. He was not sure why Clyde was so worried about pleasing this witch. She was just a young girl. It made no sense to him, but he did as he was told; he knew better than to question Clyde. He was waiting for Maxine at the edge of the forest that bordered Duke Arthur Gauthier's estate. He was not willing to step any further, should the wolves decide to be out tonight. He was surprised to see that Maxine was nowhere near where he was. He thought for sure that she would be staying as far away as possible, but he had guessed wrong.

George waited for over an hour until Maxine finally showed herself. "What took you so long? And where have you been?" He asked impatiently.

Maxine let out a frustrated sigh, "I was keeping a watch on the girl. What else would I be doing?"
