The Half-Elf, The Cat-Girl, And The Dream-Holder
"Uwarghh!!!..."
"Vier-chan, wake up! You're scaring us!"
"Please don't die, Vier! Wake up!"
When I open my eyes, I find myself lying down in my bed and see my two best friends sitting beside me.
"... Mifumi-sama, Felin?"
"Are you okay? We entered your room to wake you up. We saw you crying while sleeping, then you suddenly started shouting."
Mifumi-sama, who was sitting on my right side, asked me with a worried look on her face.
"Vier! Are you okay now?... Sob... sob..."
Felin, who was sitting on my left side and was about to cry, asked me the same thing.
I try to tell them that I'm alright. But then, the memories of the dream that I just had flashed in my mind, and the emotions and thoughts that I had right before I woke up flowed to me. Like all of them came out of my dream just to follow me in my reality.
"... Sob!... sob!... I'm okay... Mifumi-sama, Felin, since I already found my courage and resolution... Waahhhh!..."
I tried to endure what I was feeling but I wasn't able to handle my emotions and I burst into tears.
"Courage... Resolution?"
"Vier-chan, you're just having your usual dream. You're awake now! You can see us, right? So relax and calm yourself."
Felin got confused with the unfamiliar word that I said while Mifumi-sama tried to calm me down by reminding me that I was awake, that I was no longer inside of my dream, and that everything that I was feeling right now was because of my ability as a Dream-Holder.
While I was crying my heart out, the thoughts of being a Dream-Holder came into my mind.
I remember that being a Dream-Holder doesn't make me special or a one-of-a-kind person and any Human or even Half-Race who has a Human Bloodline has the possibility of becoming a Dream-Holder like me and dreams about those Memory-Fragment...
...that some Dream-Holders are said to be able to dream about how to make many unusual things and some even dream about how to use Relics found at the Floating-Islands...
...that even though I can feel their emotions and hear their thoughts that define those emotions, those heroic and magical battles that I see in my dreams are just made-up stories made by Humans of the 2nd-World.
At least that's what I feel after I'm fully awake.
After crying my heart out for a while, I'm finally able to handle my emotions and calm myself down.
"Have you calmed down, Vier-chan?"
Mifumi-sama asked me with a relief expression on her face after seeing that I was back to my usual self.
"Mhm! Thank you Mifumi-sama, Felin."
"Tell us about your dream this time, Vier."
Felin, with a look of excitement which is completely opposite to how she was about to cry earlier, asked me for the story that I saw in my dreams.
"Don't force yourself, Vier-chan. But if you can, please tell us what you dreamed this time."
"I'm fully awake now, so I think I can handle my emotions. Anyway, that dream starts like this..."
I always tell them about my dreams. They are my best friends, my Adventurer-Party members, and my companions to the adventures that we promised.
The Half-Elf, who always tries to act like an older sister even though she's only one year older than me and two years older than Felin. Her name is Mifumi.
The Cat-Girl, who always acts like a child, because she's still a child, but always gives her best at everything she does. Her name is Felin.
The two of them are always happy to listen to the stories that I see in my dreams of Memory-Fragment. Even if those stories are not about heroes and adventurers, even if those stories had many things that were so unfamiliar to them, and even if those stories had so many scary things. The two of them would always be at my side to listen to me. For that, I'm always thankful to both of them.
"...Then at that moment when she stands again after being knocked down by a monster. She looked back at us and gave us a call like she knew we were ready to join her in that battle...
...I didn't understand what she said but I'm sure she said something cool...
...What happened next was those people marching towards those monsters with their war cry that shook the entire battlefield...
...All of them were still afraid but their courage moved their trembling legs and their resolution gave strength to their trembling hands...
...That's all I can remember but I'm sure those people win their battle."
"Sob!... sob!... I see, a hero who can inspire her people even without overwhelming powers... sob!... sob!... A person who can stand true and brave in front of death... sob!...sob!... I'm sorry, please let me borrow your bathroom... Waaahhh!!!..."
After listening to my story, Mifumi-sama ran outside my room towards the bathroom while crying. She probably doesn't want to show us her crying face.
"Ehh?... Wait! Are you ok Mifumi-sama? Felin let's go after her."
I was surprised by Mifumi-sama's reaction. I tried to call Felin so we could both follow Mifumi-sama but her reaction was something that I didn't expect either.
"Uwarghh!!!..."
Felin is shouting a war cry like those people in the story that I just told them.
"Ehh?... Why are you shouting like that, Felin?"
"Uwarghh!!!..."
"Wait! Where are you going?"
Felin then ran outside my room and ran down the stairs. I was so surprised that I was unable to follow her.
"Uwarghh!!!..."
Then I heard Felin shouting from outside the house. When I move to the window to look outside, I find her running heading somewhere while shouting her war cry.
"Felin! Come back!"
I tried to stop her but it was already too late. Felin runs so fast that she's barely in my sight anymore.
"Vier! What's happening? Mifumi-sama is crying in the bathroom. Then Felin-chan runs outside while shouting like those adventurers who are about to fight a monster horde."
My Mom then entered my room to ask about everything. But right now, I can't think of how to explain what actually happened.
"I don't know Mom. I just told them what I saw in my dream."
This kind of reaction from both Felin and Mifumi-sama is what gives me the idea of writing those stories that I see in my dreams and publishing them so I can earn money. That's one of the advantages of being a Dream-Holder. We always have knowledge and ideas about unusual things and we can turn them into something profitable.
After my Mom and I successfully console Mifumi-sama to stop crying and convince her to come out of the bathroom, Felin comes back from who knows where she had run to.
Then the three of us came back to my room and continued our discussion.
"Have you calmed down Mifumi-sama?"
"I'm sorry for losing myself."
Mifumi-sama answered with a low voice and still teary eyes.
"And where have you been, Felin?"
"I beat up the dummy at the Training Area!"
"Why would you do that?"
"Because your story is so cool!"
Felin answered enthusiastically like it was the obvious thing to do after listening to my story.
Sheesh. For both of you, an adventurer needs to learn to control one's emotions. However, I can't exactly say that to them because I was crying like a 3-year-old child earlier.
"Anyway, we need to start and discuss the things that we need to do today."
""Mhm!""
Both of them agree with a determined look on their face like everything that happened earlier didn't matter to them.
That response proves how important the things were about to discus.
The reason why the two of them are here in my room is because we need to discuss our plans for the upcoming Adventurers Admission Exam.
Every year, the Adventurers Guild Academy accepts Adventurers who were able to pass that Exam from every part of the world to become their students.
Since the Adventurers Guild Academy together with its Headquarters is located at the Floating Island of Liber, becoming a student of their academy is one of the ways for young adventurers like us to reach the Floating Islands.
Adventurer students at the academy study and train to join the Exploration-Team that aims to explore the further above Floating Islands and someday reach the BlueMoon.
Well, not every student aimed to join the Exploration-Team.
Some adventurers like Mifumi-sama want to explore the dungeon which is the whole island to find stronger Monster-Core and Dungeon-Artifact, some adventurers like Felin want to train and get stronger by fighting stronger monsters, and some adventurers like me want to explore the Floating Islands which is said to be a part of the 2nd-World.
Still, if we want to explore more Floating Islands above, we need to study and train hard to join the Exploration-Team...
""... Vier-chan! / Vier!...""
Mifumi-sama and Felin call me at the same time. That made me lose my focus from thinking about the Adventurers Admission Exam.
"Sorry Mifumi-sama, Felin. I lost my thoughts thinking about the Adventurers Admission Exam."
"Sheesh. You're probably monologuing all by yourself again, right?"
"Mhm! You're doing that again Vier."
"Huh?... What do you mean by monologuing, Mifumi-sama? And what's that 'that', Felin? I'm not doing anything like that, I'm just thinking about the Exam."
I tried to deny what they were saying about me even though I didn't really understand what they meant.
"Really? Because you have these weird looks on your face when you're monologuing all by yourself, Vier-chan."
"Vier always looks weird!"
"Ehh?... What kind of weird looks, Mifumi-sama? And do I really look weird to you, Felin?"
"Hmmm... Something like your eyes look like they're focusing on something we can't see."
Mifumi-sama thought for a while then described what my weird looks were supposed to be.
"Mhm! Just like those cats at the Reserve!"
"Mhm! Just like that!"
Felin claimed that I look just like a starring cat whenever I'm monologuing or thinking by myself and Mifumi-sama casually agreed to that.
"Sigh..."
I let out a sigh realizing that both of them might actually be right.
"I think this is because of my writing work. Maybe I need to take a break from writing those stories in my dreams of Memory-Fragment..."
"No! You can't stop, Vier-chan!"
"Mhm! I want to hear more amazing stories from you, Vier!"
Both of them swiftly move close to my face and object to my idea of taking a break from writing.
"But I don't want to look weird like what you said earlier."
""No!! Please keep writing Vier-chan! / Vier!""
I don't why they keep insisting on that. It's not like I'm gonna stop telling my story to them even if I stop writing my stories.
"Sheesh. Okay fine, but we're getting out of our topic. We're supposed to talk about our preparations for the Exam right?"
""Mhm!!""
