Simon was the first to finish eating. I watched from the corner of my eye as he put on his shoes by the door.
I turned in my seat. "Where are you going?"
His hand hovered over the knob. "I'm going to find something for breakfast tomorrow."
"It's late."
"It isn't dark out yet," he responded dryly, opening the door.
Standing, I reached around him and pushed it closed. "You know it's dangerous at night. Stay here. I'll wake up early and find you something."
When Simon turned around, surprise evident on his expression, I almost felt wounded. "You're staying another night, then?"
"Were you expecting me to go home?" Or maybe he'd prefer it after our disagreement earlier.
"I didn't know what to expect. I know something happened last night, but I thought you might feel better going home to Taegen."
"Taegen went away for a while," I informed.
"Without you?"
"Without me."
Ruith is very patient, and you can tell how heavy his concern for Simon is. I just want all their problems in the world to be resolved :(. I'll release the second installment of this chapter tomorrow, so stay tuned!
