Chapter 41: Inter-Academy Competition
For some reason,having encountered a rank 6 humanoid beast whose strength was on par with a tyrant awakened seem to change Arthur's perception of those who were still in the mortal ranks.
The disciplinary committee thought Arthur was just a stray kid whose background wasn't significant enough for them to view him as a threat of some sort.
Having survived that battle showed Arthur a whole new world of strength and these losers were far behind.To others, surviving an attack from a rank 6 beast was something unprecedented but Arthur was an anomaly.
In all his bravery was something to not joke with,the only attribute that didn't require attribute points to increase but his mere will power,something which had slowly altered his mind.
"Tch...I'm different from the rest of they think they can just bully me".
He turned to his left and had finally reached the principal's office.Without hesitation he entered right away.Portraits of the principal had been plastered onto the walls, indicating how he was in charge of the Ember academy.
Not just that but citations and rewards of all sorts were also available.From this Arthur could immediately deduced he was a man who had achieved a lot,and awakened with a strong will power.
"I couldn't sense his rank...he's a transcended awakened then".
"A tyrant awakened,since that's what the rumors were saying".
"Principal Vlad..."
Truth be told Arthur knew next to nothing when it came to the academy's principal and he honestly couldn't care about this information.The principal was someone who was strict but everyone knew his dedication towards the academy.
He really held the academy as a high priority.And due to his past experiences,his was fully aware of his relation to Brad.In all Arthur didnt like him.
He could have easily extended a hand to help him but he never did, Principal Vlad was just like the others,and due to this all let's just say his love for humanity wasn't pleasant.
"Oh good,you've arrived".
Arthur heard the sound of a male closing the door as soon as he had entered.This was obviously the principal.
"Principal Vlad,I hope you didn't call me just to say what the others said right?".
"If is that then excuse me".
Arthur's body took a step forward but was immediately stopped due to Principal Vlad's response.
"Not quite.I understand your frustration and honestly,I should have known what the disciplinary committee was d-".
"Spare me this and cut to the chase".
Arthur without hesitation walked forward and dragged a chair to his side,and without any confirmation to sit he did so completely ignoring the principal's presence.
"This kid... you're lucky you have the war empress backing you or else I would have killed you this instant".
"That's it,show your true colours Infront of me you hypocritical fool"
Arthur inwardly said,noticing the slight discomfort on the principal's face, indicating how annoyed he felt at Arthur's disrespect towards him.
He ignored the blunt action and took his seat placing his hand joined hands under his chin"You're right,I called you here because this academy need you participate in the Inter-Academy competition"
"Inter-Academy competition?".
The inter-academy competition was an all out contest based on intelligence and strength,it was a contest held by the Moon Academy every year.
The earth was split into four realms,the southern realm, northern realm,eastern realm and the western realm.(The realms here represents continents in case you were wondering).
Each realm consisted of 7 academy's with Ember and Moon academy originating from the southern realm,which was by far labeled as the weakest realm.
Most say it's because the southern realm had never produced a awakened of the hybrid rank whiles the others had.Most say its because the awakeneds located in the southern realm have low ranks.
But in all,the southern realm was regarded as a weak point for awakeneds.Arthur stared at the principal with a deep grudge and stood up to leave.
"I'm not qualified for that,I'm as dumb as a chick and my strength isn't anything special".
Arthur's grudge had now deepened and he would be damned if he decided to help these guys who never in the life once helped him.And now that they now about his prowess they want to use his abilities to win the competition.
"Arthur,kid we all know you're not what you use to be and even before your second awakening you were regarded as a brilliant student".
"So...that doesn't imply anything here,see you guys never helped me when I needed that help".
Arthur voiced out with his back wholely facing Principal Vlad who honestly was quite shocked at this turnout.Anyone would be glad to have been asked of this but Arthur was rejecting this offer.
But one thing he failed to notice was Arthur wasn't just anyone,he was one who had suffered at the hands of his nephew.
"Your useless excuse of a nephew bullied m-bullied doesn't even describe it,he tortured me every single day and where were you Principal Vlad?".
"This has been happening right under my nose and I had no knowledge of it,no wonder he dared to beat him up mercilessly".
Right now the dots were connecting and slowly Principal Vlad was getting to understand why Arthur became like this,it was all due to the constant torture his useless nephew had sent him through.
"And now that you seemingly found out about my strengths you want me to help you guys win.So now tell me Principal Vlad why I should help?".
Arthur stood there silently,his hand placed on the door knob waiting for a response. Principal Vlad however unable to give a response stood there with an expression unable to read.He felt like a part of this was all his fault.
"Ember Academy has never won and has always been looked down on and this kid is not just an ordinary awakened and besides all that,his mentor is the war empress I must get him to participate at all costs but how?".
"I thought so".With a steady movement he opened the door to walk out.
"Wait". Principal Vlad yelled out but Arthur completely ignored his call,hence he decided to do something he thought he would never do for a student.
"I will give you anything you ask of if you decide to participate".
"Anything..?"Arthur question
"Anything"Principal Vlad added.
