Chapter 6: HOW IT STARTED

VIVIAN'S POV

As I stepped through the entrance of that magnificent mansion, I couldn't help but think, "Wow, is this real gold?" The place was grand, adorned with opulence, and luxury cars lined the driveway.

Surprisingly, rather than feeling amazed, I was utterly dumbfounded. It was my first encounter with a place on Earth that could be considered paradise. I cautiously explored every nook and cranny, frequently turning back to ensure my eyes weren't deceiving me.

With careful and calculated steps, I made my way into the spacious sitting room. "Hello, good morning ma'am," a warm and unexpected greeting caught me off guard. I turned to see the housekeeper, who informed me that my boss was in his room.

I took a seat, but time was of the essence as our flight departure was imminent, and missing it meant missing an important meeting. I stood up and called for the housekeeper, but there was no response. I had to figure out where my boss's room was. Remembering the housekeeper's earlier indication, I walked in that direction.

Suddenly, I heard a voice in my ear. "Ouch, don't stop," it said. At first, I thought it might be my imagination playing tricks on me, but when I heard it again, I questioned whether my vision was failing me.

"Is that a female voice, or are my eyes deceiving me?" I pondered, knocking on the door in front of me.

To my surprise, my boss opened the door and bombarded me with questions. "You? Are you insane? Who let you in?" His rapid-fire inquiries left me trembling, my heart racing as if I had just completed a marathon.

I stammered, desperately trying to find my voice. "I-I'm sorry, sir. The housekeeper... she... she let me in," I managed to utter, feeling like a deer caught in headlights.

My boss's expression shifted from anger to curiosity as he took a closer look at me. "Wait a minute," he said, his gaze narrowing. "What's that on your face?" He asked and I softly touched my face because I didn't want to clean my make-up.

In the dimly lit room, his words cut through the air like a knife. "I can see you don't have a mirror at home. If you did, you wouldn't have left your house with such poorly applied makeup," he sneered, his tone dripping with harshness and insult.

Feeling a rush of embarrassment, I knew he was right. I had hastily left my home, unaware of the makeup disaster that awaited me outside. The humiliation stung, and I desperately needed a way out of this situation.

With a cruel smirk, he continued, "You better ask Juliet to show you the way to the bathroom so you can wash that mess off your face." His words were like a slap in the face, and I couldn't get downstairs fast enough.

I found myself in a state of panic, desperately searching for an escape. And then I saw her, the lady who had been summoned to this uncomfortable encounter. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I fought to hold them back as I approached her, needing her assistance.

"I've been looking for you," I stammered, my voice quivering. "Please, I need your help." I hesitated, gathering the courage to explain the situation to her.

Her voice, high-pitched and fragile, broke the tense silence as she turned to my boss. "So, you want me to leave your house?" Her words carried a hint of disbelief, like a child confronting an unreasonable authority figure. I glanced up to see them standing face to face, their tension palpable.

My boss's reply was as cold as ice. "I've already made it clear that I have somewhere important to be right now. My flight leaves in a few minutes, and I want you out of my house. Don't ever return," he spat out, his lack of empathy astonishing.

Despite the awkwardness of the situation, I couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh. The absurdity of their confrontation was almost comical, though I knew better than to show it openly.

The lady, her eyes now glistening with tears, moved closer to him, her voice trembling with emotion. "So, you've achieved what you wanted, and now you're treating me like trash? You summoned me here when you knew you had a meeting. Why?" Her vulnerability was stark, contrasting sharply with my boss's callousness.

My boss, apparently unfazed by her tears, started to descend the staircase. "I just transferred two million to you," he declared indifferently. "Take care of yourself and don't return. Vivian, grab my bag. We're leaving." I quickly rose to my feet and took his bag from him, ready to leave this bizarre encounter behind.

"You think it's all about your money? You think it's all about who you are? It's all about my feelings." She said as we were leaving the sitting room and my boss didn't look back but only said, "your feelings can't pay your bills."

The whole situation was a testament to the strange and ruthless world I had found myself in, where power and wealth allowed people to disregard basic decency and compassion.

As we arrived at the airport, there were only five minutes left until our flight departure, and my boss, he, was strolling leisurely as if time were his loyal servant.

"Sir, we must hasten, as our departure draws near, or we risk missing our flight," I earnestly implored him. My plea, however, fell on deaf ears.

I understood that a missed flight would not deny his riches, but for me, it was an invaluable chance to stand among esteemed investors. "You should have procured a private jet, given your apparent aversion to haste," I muttered under my breath.

Following our pivotal meeting, he summoned the private car he had arranged in advance to transport us back to the airport.

"Sir, I fear the car has encountered an issue," reported our chauffeur, his voice tinged with concern.

The driver disembarked to investigate the vehicular malfunction, yet my boss remained impassive, engrossed in his smartphone, his demeanour utterly unconcerned. I couldn't help but tell myself the truth, that he is handsome.

His nose was well-structured but his heart, very heavy and proud, had 80% of his brain.

I believed he was differently created as the alpha but as a leader, he shouldn't be so arrogant. Yes, he can possess pride because that will make him more different from others, but he shouldn't be complacent and toying with people's emotions. "I forbid myself from being in his arms."

"Sir, we are going to miss the flight."
