"Well if you're hanging out with me out of pity then you might as well forget about it," I pushed his arm off me then stood up. "You're more than welcome to spend as much time with your girlfriend as you want and I'll do anything in my power to get out of your way," I huffed as I dusted myself off. 

"Demyan," his voice dropped an octave deeper and I had stilled. Like some weakling I had stilled! He used the same tone Dad and Pa used with me when I was throwing a tantrum for no good reason. 

"Don't talk to me like I'm a child," I snapped, "I'm one year and a few months to turning eighteen. I will fully well be an adult and on my way to manhood. Excuse me, I don't have girlfriends every single vacation but I'm saving myself for someone very special."
