Chapter 61: Making The Move
As the night of the Uchiha clan's tragic fate unfolded, Naruto, despite his brash demeanor, harbored no joy in witnessing the destruction of families. While impolite, he maintained a strict code, sparing the lives of innocents and directing his sole focus towards the one responsible – Uchiha Obito, the masked man.
Naruto, gritting his teeth in frustration, viewed Obito's actions as nothing short of personal betrayal. Obito's involvement in the demise of Naruto's family fueled a burning hatred, a relentless desire for revenge that Naruto could not ignore.
The motive behind Itachi's participation in the gruesome event intrigued Naruto. If his intent was to protect the village from a potential Uchiha coup, driven by concerns of triggering world-level wars, Itachi's actions, though ruthless, carried a certain logic. But Obito's motivation remained shrouded in mystery.
"Damn Obito," Naruto muttered, attributing his own hardships to the man's actions.
A fiery determination glinted in Naruto's narrowed eyes. He swore never to let Obito escape the consequences of his actions. His hatred ran deep.
Kurama, sensed Naruto's intense emotions. A subtle worry lingered in Kurama's thoughts, wondering if Naruto's pursuit of revenge hinted at a descent into madness. However, now was not the time to address such concerns. The focus remained on seeking retribution against Obito and, if alive, Madara.
The chaos brought about by the Mangekyō Sharingan unfolded quickly. The esoteric powers of this jutsu proved devastating, rendering the once lively Uchiha clan residence eerily silent. In a mere half-hour, the only sounds that persisted were the breaths of Uchiha Fugaku, his wife Mikoto, and the returning Itachi. The rest of the clan had met their demise, victims of the very power they wielded.
Obito, displaying a heartless brutality, eradicated all tribesmen who had managed to escape while on duty in the security team. No 'remnants' were spared in his ruthless pursuit. The level of cruelty exhibited in this act raises suspicions, as if these were not his own family and clansmen, but rather bitter enemies driven by profound hatred. The ease with which they achieved such a level of extinction even surpasses the hostility of the Senju clan in their prime.
As the clock approached eight, on the opposite side of the street, a young child, Sasuke, trotted toward the Uchiha residence. Despite being a member of the Uchiha clan, he remained untouched, thanks to a deal struck between the village and Itachi. In the guise of protecting Sasuke, Itachi made the grim decision to annihilate his own family, including his parents, for the sake of his younger brother.
"This kind of love is truly burdensome," sneered Naruto, relishing in the misfortune unfolding. Yet, his attention wasn't fixated on Sasuke.
Observing the conclusion of the genocide, Itachi, having even slain his own parents, captured Naruto's focus. During this period, Obito surreptitiously collected Sharingan, specifically targeting those of the three-hook jade level. Whether for future use or an unawareness of the need for his bloodline's eyes to unlock the eternal Mangekyō Sharingan, Obito's motives remained unclear.
"It's time for us to intervene, Kurama, though your power might not be necessary this time. It's too conspicuous," remarked Naruto, acknowledging the need for discretion.
Choosing to stay on the sidelines, Naruto strategically refrained from using Kurama's Chakra on Sasuke, leaving the task to Itachi. This decision allowed the estranged brothers to share a final moment, as Kurama's Chakra would attract unwanted attention within Konoha Village.
Naruto, far from foolish, understood the importance of preserving his ace card until absolutely necessary. Despite the restraint, he had been preparing for this moment for years, ensuring he had his own method. Suddenly, Naruto descended from mid-air, poised for the next phase of this unfolding saga.
In the midst of the unfolding spectacle, Naruto resembled a force of nature, hurtling toward the grounded figure of Obito like thunder.
Obito, startled, lifted his head to witness an approaching phantom, a force he couldn't quite fathom. Perplexed, he exclaimed, "What is this?"
The approaching entity was unexpected, and in the chaos, it was hard to recognize it as a person. Who would have thought it would be a person?
Despite the surprise, Obito's response was swift. He didn't wait for Naruto to draw near; instead, he strategically retreated, putting distance between them.
Naruto, pragmatic and aware of his limitations, didn't harbor the audacity to believe he could swiftly close in on Obito, especially considering Obito's status as a Kage-level master at that time. Eliminating a Kage-level opponent, using the body of an eight-year-old, was no small feat.
However, Naruto had a trick up his sleeve.
"Hey."
From the pouch on his back, Naruto retrieved an unexpected item. Opening his hand, he revealed a seemingly ordinary nail.
Without hesitation, Naruto directed his hand towards Obito and uttered softly, "Shinra Tensei."
A formidable repulsive force emanated from Naruto as the nails transformed into projectiles, propelled towards Obito like bullets. It appeared that Naruto had devised an ingenious strategy—opting for common nails instead of the more expensive shuriken and kunai, a thrifty yet effective choice.
The night was shrouded in darkness, amplifying the terrifying sound of the nails slicing through the air. Obito, caught off guard and unaware of the unfolding situation, faced the onslaught of these nail-bullets.
In desperation, Obito resorted to his ocular prowess, in an attempt to navigate this unexpected assault. The confrontation between these two formidable forces intensified.
