Chapter 29: CP : 29 - Under A Tree

Ope had started to manage this place on his own. Of course, the Hunters were still putting up a resistance.

Especially Assiom's Children could motivate other Hunters around them.

But all of this didn't change the fact that we were the superior side.

Screams and shouts from people running away had started to come from a few streets away. Although the sounds were somewhat unsettling, I had to finish what I had started.

With everyone's attention diverted, I had infiltrated among the fleeing people. My slaves and the monsters from the Dungeon were killing all the Hunters.

I began walking towards the north of the town. The reason I was heading in that direction was that people were fleeing that way. Besides, no one had tried to escape from me so far. That meant my identity wasn't entirely exposed.

"Sir, are you okay?" An anxious voice called out to me.

It was Erka's voice. I was surprised that he was still alive, but it made me happy that he was.

"I'm fine. We need to get out of town quickly."

Before I could finish speaking, Erka interrupted me.

"Sir, follow me. I know a safe place."

Erka's calm demeanor in the face of such events seemed quite odd. Perhaps Hunters were accustomed to such things.

Still, it was strange for a child to remain so composed in such situations. There were monsters everywhere in the town, but he seemed as if he didn't care about the people who had died.

I began following Erka. We had left the town after about 10-12 minutes. In the distance, there was a group observing the town.

The group ahead mainly consisted of the elderly and children. Some young people and women were among them, just like me. Their swift gathering here annoyed me.

The children's eyes were red from crying. This was the reaction they should have had. Erka's composure was certainly not a normal response.

I sat under a tree and began observing the town. I had no regrets about the decision I had made. After all, they were people who had planned to kill me at the first opportunity.

I checked the notifications from the system.

[You have killed a total of 22 F-Rank, 67 E-Rank, 186 D-Rank, 34 C-Rank Hunters!]

[Current DP: 16,000]

They had already cleared more than half of the town. But they still hadn't managed to kill even one of Assiom's Children.

"Why are we waiting for our turn here? If we set out now, we can be there by morning." Arguments were starting to break out within the group.

It wasn't an unfair point. During my time here, they weren't safe either.

They were debating about seeking refuge with the city lord. After a few minutes, everyone began to warm up to the idea of hitting the road.

Erka noticed that I was still sitting and turned to me, asking, "Sir, aren't you coming?"

"My entire wealth is left in the town. I'll come after I retrieve my money when things calm down. You go ahead."

All of my money was indeed still in the town. I hadn't even seen Assiom's Children's belongings yet. Their weapons must be very powerful, shouldn't they?

"Sir, if you give me a portion of the money, I can accompany you."
