August the First
The weather was clear; Mianyang had finally recovered from the rainy season. Although the rains had been heavy this year, Yanghe had already flooded the previous year, so this year, Mianyang was alarmed but unharmed.
Early in the morning, the bailiffs at the governmental office began to form neat ranks.
As soon as a person dressed in the County Magistrate's official attire came out, they set off in a mighty procession. They attracted particular attention on the streets that were still quite deserted in the early morning.
Curious and bold onlookers were seemingly in abundance, and, not knowing where the officials were headed, some people stealthily followed behind.
In doing so, they discovered that the group was headed to the home of their Principal Clerk of Mianyang.
Then they heard the leader shout, "Go in and take them, not a single one to miss."
