Silent comfort

She could only cover her mouth in disbelief at what she heard from Victor.

She stood there like a statue, unable to move her feet.

It felt as though she had been drenched in icy water upon hearing Victor's words.

She decided to stay where she was while waiting for Victor to say more.

She glanced at Victor briefly and noticed him rubbing his face in frustration, while he's listening intently to the person on the other line.

"I-I don't believe you... Grandma still has a deal with me, so it's impossible for what you're saying to be true. I know she only asked you to prank me, so that the deal between us can be expedited because I know she's getting impatient. It's not true that she's ill," Victor said, his voice trembling with a mix of disbelief and desperation.

"Shut up, Megan!," Victor exclaimed, his tone filled with frustration.

"She's not ill, okay... she's not ill..."
