New Familiars

I brought the two cages upstairs, so my family doesn't witness my taming magic.

I first tamed the Jackalopes.

Jackalopes are rabbits with antlers and are a myth among muggles. The countless sightings would be veiled as a virus. The wolpertingers in the european alps didn't need that as long as nobody took a picture, nobody would believe a being madeout of multiple animals existed.

It was what gave some dark wizards the idea to create chimeras, but those weren't as balanced as their natural counterpart and became mostly aggressive or infertile, so they couldn't breed them and only used the few they made to guard houses or treasures for them.

The two Jackalopes Sirius got me were both with the commonly seen brown fur with little antlers on their foreheads. I find the idea funny to name them with alliterates to their species, so the male was Jack and the female Jenny. Jackalopes shed their antlers every year and those could be used in some potions, so selling them to Snape could earn me some money. But I wouldn't do it to gain money at the moment, so I would keep at least their first antlers as mementos.

The two were really cute, but one needed to take care not to be poked by their antlers if you cuddle them.

With the first contracts done, I go over to the second cage.

A Hoo-Hoo is a little plump bird in its infancy with black feathers with red details like their crown- or tailfeathers, but get more beautiful as they age. If they are acquired as a teenager or adult, they can be more temperamental, but because of the taming magic, I didn't have a problem even as the one uncle buyed was in his teenage phase. Hoo-Hoo's have the ability of fire magic from their older ancestors and have greater control over it then the phoenix, but didn't get the other abilities in return such as healing, flame travel or immortality. They still reach a fairly high age, most of the time older than wizards, but wouldn't reincarnate in the ashes like Fawkes and his relatives.

That also brought me to his name. Ash.

He looked like burning ash with his red details in the black charcoal.

Hoo-Hoo's could reach the size of a eagle, but as Ash is still not fully grown and was only the size of a small hawk.

I tried to ask through our link what they wish for their environment, but either they hadn't an idea or the link was to weak to understand them. I really should research my taming magic more to find a way to communicate with my pets.

So in the meantime I take them outdoors to spread their wings or sprint on the grass after their long trip.

Jack and Jenny happily hoppled above the little hill and came back to play with me and my sister who joined us. Ash flew in the sky with great enthusiasm till he had enough and gracefully landed on my shoulder to see what we did. I also took Anluan out, but since my parents didn't know about my kneazles yet, I could only let them play after it gets dark or in my room.

My three new familiars got a little scared when seeing Anluan, but I calmed them down through the link and a few pets and in the evening after being together the whole afternoon, they already accepted him.

Jack and Jenny especially didn't leave his perimeter as they felt save in his present.

Who would mess with them with such a strong big brother.

Ash found the head of his big brother a good place to look out and groom himself, so I didn't have to worry as I ate with my family. Uncle Sirius was so generous to include some food for the three but Ash hunted some mice in the nearby plain and my Jackalopes prefered the fresh grass above their previous food from oversees. As long as they are happy, I am too.

Sirius sayed goodbye after dinner, but promised to visit in the following days and also go shopping with us for the coming schoolyear.

Sis asked to get some training at the end, so in the weeks till September he would often train her practical skills. They didn't want to exclude me so I trained a little with them, but used the other part of my time to plan the new habitats in 'Dimensional Home'.

Jack and Jenny just made a burrow in the little hill near the forest. They could still go to the nearby lake but weren't close enough so future younglings would take a bath without their parents knowing.

Ash was a bigger problem as Hoo-Hoo's normaly live on volcanos or warm mountain peaks, but I found the space inside my space still to small to introduce a giant mountain or a new environment.

So how should I solve this problem?
