Chapter 100: The Werewolves

As the first sliver of dawn bled over the hills, painting the sky in hues of hope and peril, YuXin stood vigilant. Her arms, transformed into shields of steel by resolve, encircled the sleeping rabbit shifter, a promise of unwavering protection against any shadow dared whisper in the young girl's dreams.

Just as the voice promised, they indeed came for her. A family of werewolves emerged from the brushes, circling the huli-jing menacingly. Their body language indicated that they were on full alert, ready to pounce at any moment's notice if there was any funny business to be had.

A little girl, who looked about five or six years of age, rode atop a black wolf that was dark as night. Though just a little urchin, she too was prepared to lash out, if anything was to happen to her family.
