Chapter 42: Innocence

Mirai and Uriel, drawn by the smoke, entered the dimly lit room to find Azrael and Gabriel, both wearing expressions of perplexity and concern. Azrael's shadows were still flickering, a testament to the intensity of the situation.

"What happened here?" Uriel inquired, her eyes scanning the room for clues amidst the dissipating smoke.

Azrael explained how Alastor had managed to escape, leaving them with more questions than answers. Mirai's brow furrowed in thought. "Who's Alastor? What does he know?"

Azrael hesitated for a moment before explaining, "He's someone I met earlier, and he seemed to have information about the strange occurrences in the city. But when pressed further, he escaped, leaving us in the dark."

Uriel's eyes narrowed with determination. "We must find this Alastor. If he knows something, he might be our best chance to understand what's going on."
