Chapter 666: As Wished

The Mean Look move was quite effective for higher level Pokémon to suppress lower level ones.

Even the fierce Gyarados, under the influence of Mismagius's Mean Look, couldn't move a muscle.

Gyarados roared, attempting to break free from the effects of the Mean Look, but it was futile. Mismagius's Thunderbolt then struck Gyarados.

As a Water and Flying-type Pokémon, Gyarados's major weakness was Electric-type moves. After being hit by Thunderbolt, it let out a painful cry, smoked, and convulsed before tumbling into the sea.

The sea churned and swayed, transitioning from rough waters to gradually calm ones as Gyarados sank into the depths.

Just as Yuga was about to instruct Mismagius to retrieve it using telekinesis, Gyarados suddenly burst out of the water again, its eyes red, charging frantically towards Mismagius.

Yuga immediately recognized this as Gyarados's "Thrash" move and was somewhat surprised by Gyarados's resilience. After enduring Mismagius's Thunderbolt, it was still standing.

Thrash was a desperate move, similar to the Dragon-type move "Outrage." Pokémon like Gyarados and Ursaring used these moves recklessly, disregarding potential harm to themselves. Other Pokémon would think twice before using such moves due to their significant drawbacks.

Although Mismagius was surprised that Gyarados hadn't been knocked out yet, it remained calm in the face of Gyarados's Thrash.

Mismagius calmly used Double Team again to evade Gyarados's reckless charge. Following that, its Will-O-Wisp landed on Gyarados, causing it to become afflicted with a burn.

Under the influence of Will-O-Wisp, Gyarados's momentum waned, and its physical moves were significantly weakened.

Due to the burn, all of Gyarados's physical moves would now deal half as much damage.

With Gyarados's vulnerability exposed, Mismagius unleashed another Thunderbolt, and this time, Gyarados truly went down.

No matter how resilient it was, it couldn't withstand two Thunderbolts from Yuga's Elite Pokémon, not to mention that the side effects of its Thrash had yet to kick in.

After defeating Gyarados, Yuga tossed a Poké Ball to capture it. Then he turned to Drew and said, "You see, capturing Pokémon is like this, not as exciting as it may seem."

Drew gazed at Yuga for a moment and replied, "You're amazing! And Mismagius is amazing too."

A simple yet heartfelt compliment.

Yuga was taken aback by this unexpected praise. He chuckled awkwardly, "Well... I guess."

Jokes aside, he felt a bit embarrassed to earnestly accept the compliment.

After capturing Gyarados, Yuga noticed that Solidad hadn't emerged from the cave yet. He said to Drew, "Let's go inside and check."

Drew nodded in agreement.

Once back inside the cave, since they didn't have Solidad's Chinchou's flash to illuminate their path, Yuga's Mismagius conjured a small fireball with Mystical Fire, controlled it with psychic power, and let it float in the air for lighting.

Though it appeared eerie, there were no issues with their illumination.

With no Gyarados blocking their way this time, Yuga and Drew smoothly advanced deeper into the cave. Before long, they could hear sounds of a battle echoing from inside.

It was likely the commotion caused by Solidad while trying to capture Pokémon.

Upon reaching the deep end of the cave on Lapras's back, Yuga was surprised to find the interior quite spacious.

Solidad was currently engaged in battle with two Luvdiscs. These were the Pokémon she had set her sights on.

Initially, she had thought there was only one Luvdisc, but upon entering the cave, she discovered another, clearly the companion of the first one.

This was why she hadn't been able to capture the Luvdisc she desired earlier.

However, it wasn't surprising since Luvdisc, when mature, typically appeared in pairs and were known for showcasing affection and love, making them quite affectionate Pokémon.

Yuga observed Solidad simultaneously dealing with two Luvdiscs and inquired aloud, "Need any help?"

"No, I've got this," Solidad replied, shaking her head. When it came to capturing Pokémon, she preferred handling it herself.

Taking advantage of the time Solidad spent battling the pair of Luvdiscs, Yuga surveyed the dark cave. He noticed that, apart from the two Luvdiscs, there were several other Pokémon within, though they appeared rather weak and kept their distance to avoid getting caught up in the battles.

However, Yuga's attention was suddenly drawn to two Clauncher huddled in a corner.

"Why would Clauncher be here?" Yuga wondered. As far as he recalled, Clauncher and Clawitzer should be inhabited in that underground caverns, so it was strange to find them in this location.

Although it wasn't too far from their usual habitat, it didn't make sense for them to leave their established homes and seek refuge in this place.

Yuga remembered that the location of the cave was very secluded, and Clauncher and Clawitzer had no natural enemies. Logically speaking, there was no need to go outside to find such a place to live.

Could it be that these two were kicked out of the clan?

Yuga could only think of this reason.

Eventually, Solidad succeeded in capturing both Luvdiscs, as she didn't want to separate the loving couple.

Since the two Luvdiscs had such excellent cooperation, they might surprise everyone in the Pokémon Contest.

After securing the Luvdiscs in Poké Balls, Solidad called out to Yuga, "Let's go."

Due to the cave's dim environment, Solidad didn't notice the two inconspicuous Clauncher hiding in the corner.

Having achieved their goals, Yuga and the others left the cave together and returned to their inn.

Drew stayed in a different inn from Yuga and Solidad, so there was a somewhat reluctant parting.

However, Yuga assured him that he could visit them anytime for a get-together. Drew then left without much fuss.

Upon Yuga's return to the inn, he found that Gardevoir had finally woken up. Gardevoir was sitting at the entrance, surrounded by onlookers who marveled at its appearance. Gardevoir remained unfazed, even as people pointed and whispered about it.

Seeing Yuga return, Gardevoir expressed its dissatisfaction, "Where did you go? You didn't even think to invite me!"

The surrounding tourists were amazed to hear Gardevoir communicate telepathically; it wasn't a common ability among Pokémon.

Yuga sighed, rubbing his forehead in exasperation. This Pokémon sure had a thick skin and didn't mind the attention.

This was also the first time Solidad learned that the Gardevoir accompanying Yuga had telepathic abilities. Although she had seen Gardevoir the previous day, it had remained silent, so she was unaware of this ability.

Nevertheless, she wasn't overly surprised. In her understanding, Yuga, as an Elite level Trainer, having a Gardevoir with telepathic abilities seemed quite reasonable.

In Solidad's eyes, Yuga was an exceptionally skilled and accomplished Trainer. Having a Gardevoir with telepathic abilities wasn't out of the ordinary for someone of his caliber.
