Chapter 36: Always

I looked at the mask on the table as I slipped into a black lace mini dress. I took the silver mask and put it over my eyes. I exhaled gently and entered the hallway.

Eric took my arm and murmured, "Hello, my beauty.

I greeted them sternly as we descended the stairs and entered the ballroom.

Eric said in my ear, "My followers are going to love you, Sarah," which gave me a shiver.

I stifled out, "Great," as we strolled into the crowded room with everyone watching us.

"Everyone, this is Sarah. Eric grinned and soon drew me in for a kiss. Despite knowing better, I froze. My body began to feel cold, pleading with me to get away. Eric finally retreated as the audience applauded.

I lightly murmured as I approached a waiter, "I'm going to get a drink. I reached for the sparkling apple juice and took a sip since I was unable to drink.

I turned to face a man who stated, "You have made quite an impression.

I whispered, "Thank you," to him.
