Chapter 364: Beneath the Surface

Zhang took a deep breath and closed his eyes to calm himself down. 

Those downer pills seemed to be doing the trick because he didn't let my grandfather's taunting bother him. The meds had definitely helped him stay cool and collected. 

Not just that, in our first meeting, I also noticed something different about Zhang. 

He stayed cool even when was using his strong abilities, unlike other Gifteds. It reminded me of Rei Mei and the other girls who was not corrupted by their powers.

It was different from me. I didn't know if my power was corrupting my mind, or if I was just corrupted in the first place. Considering the history of my clan, I think it was the latter. 

Seeing Zhang's calm response, my grandfather stopped laughing.

"You're no fun," he shook his head in disappointment. I could tell he was just bored and trying to stir things up for some amusement.
