Chapter 92: Terminator

Varion was puzzled by the unexpected projection before him. A figure materialized from the luminous orb, appearing out of thin air, completely naked yet oddly composed.

"When did this happen?" Varion inquired.

"Three days ago," came the response.

His eyes narrowed as he recognized the figure—a Terminator, specifically a T-800 model.

"But if this is the Terminator's world, shouldn't the entire timeline be a closed loop?" Varion pondered aloud, his mind racing. "Yet the timeline here remains unchanged."

The Terminator saga often stressed the repercussions of tampering with time—a cautionary tale that altering the past could lead to unforeseen consequences. However, in this case, the future seemed immune to changes in the past.

Altering past events failed to impact the future, creating a paradoxical situation where the future remained intact. Such paradoxes were the reality of dealing with time travel.

"Changing the past doesn't affect the future but spawns countless parallel universes," Varion mused, contemplating the complexities of temporal manipulation.

"It's intriguing," he remarked, though the presence of the Terminator offered little benefit to the Kryptonians. Their focus on development and progress kept them occupied without the need for such temporal anomalies.

Intelligent robotics and nuclear battery technology stood out as the only positive aspects amid the darkness of the Terminator world, with energy technology showing some promise.

"Alright, arrange for our return to Earth," Varion instructed.

"Understood, sir. Also, we've cultivated 50 new Kryptonite warriors. Shall I have them briefed by you, sir?" the subordinate inquired.

Varion shook his head. "No need. Have them stationed at the Mars base. Once they're physically prepared, begin their education."

Meanwhile, Royce and Isabel roamed freely, feeling powerless to intervene. Earth beckoned on the horizon, and they prayed for a peaceful return.

"What are your plans once we're back?" Isabel asked.

Royce pondered for a moment before responding, "Perhaps a career change. After this ordeal, it's hard to muster enthusiasm for my previous endeavors."

Isabel's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "What will you do? Open a small business? Or perhaps travel?"

Royce grinned. "Maybe find a remote spot, untouched by civilization. Start a farm, raise some livestock."

"It sounds like a serene way of life. But are you prepared for it?" Isabel inquired.

"Don't underestimate me. If circumstances were different, I might have been a farmer already," Royce quipped.

Isabel sighed, contemplating their uncertain future under Varion's rule. The Mars base housed an array of enigmatic beings, including a woman confined within a glass tank named Alice, her purpose shrouded in mystery.

"In truth, we don't pose any threat to him. Even if we were to speak out, who would believe us?" Isabel mused.

"Maybe," Royce responded, his thoughts swirling with uncertainty.

Varion's moves remained cloaked in secrecy. With his strong presence on Earth, it seemed impossible for him to leave no trace. Yet, the world stayed oddly calm, with energy reserves staying abundant.

"I have an offer for you, if you're tired of your current situation. You might find it appealing," Varion appeared from the shadows.

"Mr. Varion."

Varion nodded. "Interested?"

Royce shrugged, "We don't have much choice, do we?"

"Don't give up hope just yet. I might not be a hero, but you still have options."

They exchanged glances, both inwardly scoffing at the idea. "Not a hero? More like not even close!"

They thought bitterly. On the hunting planet, Varion had the chance and the power to save those people, but he chose not to act.

Seeing their expressions, Varion smirked knowingly. If he were in their shoes, he'd probably feel the same. He wasn't planning on letting them slip away.

"Mousse, get a spacecraft ready."

"Got it, sir."

Returning from Mars to Earth, the craft was fitted with warp technology. It wasn't the fastest, but it wasn't slow either—typical of Kryptonian tech on Earth.

Once back, Varion sorted things out at the Blood Orchid Base, tying up any loose ends.

"Where are we?"

Expecting some hidden spot, Isabel and Royce were surprised to find themselves in the jungle—a far cry from what they expected.

Varion grinned. "Follow me!"
