Chapter 37: Just wait and watch.

As I lay in my small room, pretending to be in a deep slumber, my heart raced with anticipation.

"Altar, huh? " (Alex)

The goblins outside had just mentioned their plan to transport me to the sacrificial altar, and I knew I had to act quickly.

I had already accelerated the recovery from the sleeping poison, and now it was time to surprise them.

The door to my room creaked open, and I could sense the goblins entering cautiously. Their dark silhouettes moved closer to my bed.

The first goblin had spoken in low, anxious tones, asking, "How do we transport the outsider to the sacrificial altar?"

The second goblin had replied, equally hushed, "We'll have to carry the outsider in a trance. Once we reach the altar, the chieftain will perform the ritual, and the outsider will be in the afterlife until it's too late."

With feigned sleep, I could hear their hushed voices as they discussed how to transport me.

One of the goblins reached out to gently grasp my shoulder, intending to lift me from the bed. That's when I seized the opportunity.

With a sudden burst of energy, I sprang up from the bed and, using the element of surprise, delivered a swift, powerful kick to the goblin's chest.

He staggered backwards, crashing into the second goblin who was caught off guard by my sudden movement.

Despite my injured leg, I was driven by adrenaline and nervousness. I leapt off the bed and launched myself at the goblins. I targeted their weaknesses, striking precisely and efficiently.

I used my broken leg to my advantage, feigning vulnerability before swiftly sweeping the injured limb across the legs of the nearest goblin, causing him to lose his balance.

In the dimly lit room, a frantic struggle ensued. I used every ounce of strength and combat skills I possessed to overpower the goblins. Despite the odds being stacked against me, the element of surprise and my resolve gave me an upper hand.

With one goblin incapacitated on the floor, I turned my attention to the other, who was still reeling from the powerful kick to his chest.

I seized the opportunity to disarm him, sending his weapon clattering to the ground. With quick and precise movements, I rendered him unable to continue the fight.

Breathing heavily, I stood victorious in the room. The goblins, who had intended to transport me to the sacrificial altar, lay defeated. I had successfully turned the tables on them, despite my injuries.

'But, wait, wait, wait... If I had used my spells in the beginning then they would have been defeated by now... Arghh, I don't understand where my brain goes in times of need. ' (Alex)

'Anyway, let's see what can I get from them. ' (Alex)

As I caught my breath, I knew that this was just the beginning of my quest to unravel the mysteries of the goblin village and ensure my own survival.

I needed to find out the truth behind their plans and discover the significance of my blood in their sinister plot.

With the goblins under my control, I dragged them to a corner of the room and tied them together with a rope.

The chamber was filled with tension, and my resolve was unwavering.

I wasted no time; instead, I delivered a harsh slap to each goblin's face, leaving a burning mark of defiance on their cheeks.

"Arhh! " (Goblin)

The room echoed with their sudden gasps of pain.

"What's the location of the sacrificial altar, and what are the chieftain's intentions for me?" I demanded, my voice seething with urgency.

The goblins, recovering from the stinging blows, exchanged sardonic glances. Their defiance oozed as they chuckled, a sinister sound that sent shivers down my spine.

"Outsider," one of them sneered, "you are a mere pawn in the chieftain's grand design. You will never comprehend our purpose."

The other chimed in, "We serve our master faithfully. We'll never betray our chieftain. Your efforts are futile."

Their mockery was infuriating, but I couldn't let it deter me. My frustration surged as I realized that they were resolute in protecting their chieftain's secrets.

"OK, if that's what you want then I fulfil your wish wholeheartedly. " (Alex)

"What do you mean? " (Goblin)

"Just wait and watch. " (Alex)

I knew I had no choice but to use more drastic measures to extract the information I needed, even though it meant resorting to methods I had never considered before.

With a cold expression, I decided to break the goblin's will, one finger at a time. I grabbed his wrist and positioned his index finger for what was to come.

The goblin's eyes widened with confusion as he failed to grasp my intent. He shouted," Hey, What are you planning to do?

But I had come too far to turn back.

"Nothing!... Just going to check are your fingers healthy." (Alex)

Then I snapped the first finger, and a piercing scream tore through the chamber.

"Ahhhhhhh!" (Goblin)

The goblin writhed in agony, tears streaming down his face, but I remained resolute.

Through clenched teeth, I asked again, "The location of the sacrificial altar, and the chieftain's intentions. Tell me, now!"

Yet the defiance of the goblin did not crumble, and he shouted in pain, "Fuck you! I'll never tell you a single thing."

I moved on to the second finger, the goblin's screams intensifying.

"Ahhh..ahh stop, stop! I will tell, I will tell you everything you want but please stop, stop this!".

He was no longer mocking or defiant; he was a broken creature, begging for mercy.

"The altar is deep in the caves to the north, and the chieftain... he plans to use your blood to awaken a dark entity." (Goblin)

He told me everything I needed to know, between sobs and cries of pain.

As I broke the third finger, he couldn't hold back the tears any longer. "Please, outsider, no more! I've told you everything! Just make it stop!"

But there was one last piece of information I needed to be absolutely certain. As I prepared to break the fourth finger, I asked, "The purpose of this dark entity, goblin? Tell me now, or the pain continues."

The goblin, his spirit shattered, whimpered, "I... I don't know."

With a cold heart, I pressed on, despite the goblin's broken spirit and his feeble protests. The fourth finger met the same painful fate as the others. As I snapped it, the goblin's scream of agony echoed through the room.

"Nooooo!" he cried out in sheer anguish. Tears streamed down his face as he continued to beg for mercy.

In a strained, trembling voice, he repeated, "I don't know! I swear, I don't know anything more. Please, no more pain!"

'Maybe he truly doesn't know', I thought in my mind.

I released the goblin. He lay there, broken and defeated, his spirit and fingers shattered. The room echoed with the haunting sounds of his torment.

"Did I overdid?... Nah, maybe he fell asleep. " (Alex)

Anyway, I had the answers I sought, but the price was abrupt, and the weight of what I had done settled not heavily upon me.

'I mean why the fuck should I be sad over some puny goblin? ' I thought.

The path I had chosen was a dark one, and there was no return from it.

My eyes met the second goblin, who had been witnessing the torture I had inflicted upon his companion. His fear was noticeable, and he quivered as my gaze bore into him.

"What should I do with you?" I asked, my voice colder and more menacing than before.

Terror filled his eyes, and he stammered, "L-leave me! I won't tell anybody what you did here. I promise!"

I shook my head solemnly. "That's not possible, my friend."

He cried out, "Noooooo!"
