Chapter 32: Emma (Edited)

"Companion?" Raven mused for a moment, then her eyes sparkled with curiosity, and she asked, "Is she a Mutant too?"

"Yes, she definitely is. But I'm not sure about her powers yet," Alex replied confidently, rarely making errors in identifying Mutants.

"Hello, my name is Alex. What's your name, and what's your Ability?" Alex swiftly wrote a small note and placed it in front of the girl.

The girl looked at Alex in surprise as she witnessed the pen in his hand spinning.

"My name is Emma Grace Frost. You can call me Emma," her voice resonated in Alex's ears.

Alex was momentarily taken aback upon hearing her name. Could this be the same Emma Frost from the Hellfire Club? What an incredible coincidence.

"Do you also have psychic powers?" Charles chimed in.

"Yes, my Ability is diamondization and Telepathy." Emma extended her finger, and it instantly transformed into a brilliant diamond.

Alex nodded, confirming his suspicion. It was indeed the White Queen Emma Frost from the original story.

"My Ability is psychic power," Charles introduced.

"Mine is shapeshifting. I can transform into anyone's appearance," Raven added, clearly intrigued by the presence of another female Mutant, especially after living for seven or eight years as the only one.

"I possess the Ability to copy. I just need a small sample, like hair, blood, or skin, containing complete genetic information, to replicate any Ability," Alex explained with a faint smile.

Emma, too, was surprised by the diverse Abilities displayed by the trio. She had always been alone in her Mutant abilities.

Alex recalled the background information about Emma. Born into a wealthy family in Boston, the United States, her family life was far from happy. Her father, a ruthless businessman, and her mother, struggling with psychotropic substances, created a cold environment for Emma. The one teacher who had given her hope, Mr. Lane, was fired by her father because of Emma's actions.

Due to a series of unfortunate events, Emma found herself distancing from ordinary people, eventually becoming a member of the Hellfire Club. Despite her later tumultuous personal life, Emma had initially been a virtuous young woman before her association with the Hellfire Club. At their current ages, she had yet to undergo those unfortunate experiences.

In the crowded classroom, the four friends continued their discussion, but the sensitivity of the topic of Mutants made it challenging.

...

After school, the quartet walked together.

"I can't believe it, honestly. I always thought this transformation was unique to me," Emma exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

"Before meeting them, I thought I was the only one," Charles smiled and added.

"When I first awakened my abilities, I was terrified. I thought I was some kind of freak," Emma emotionally recounted. It had been a long time since she had met friends who truly understood her.

"A freak? Why would you think that? Look at Raven," Alex gestured toward Raven, who smiled and effortlessly shifted her appearance.

"Oh my goodness!" Surprise flickered in Emma's eyes.

Alex continued, "Do you see this as a freak? No! Quite the opposite—she's beautiful, isn't she? If you want society to accept you, you must first accept yourself."

Raven noticed the astonishment in Emma's eyes but remained unfazed. After spending five years with Alex, he had instilled many empowering ideas into her. The opinions of others mattered little when she knew she was beautiful in the eyes of the most important person in her life.

As for the opinions of the rest of the world? They didn't matter in the slightest.

"Alex is absolutely right. The majority of people in the world are ordinary, and Mutants represent only a small fraction. If we can't embrace ourselves, how can we expect society to accept us?" Charles spoke with a deep sense of purpose, his ideals clearly influenced by Captain America.

"Mutants are far more prevalent than we realize, and we're fortunate to have unearthed our unique abilities. It's our responsibility to aid fellow persecuted Mutants and strive for a rightful place in society, sparing us from constant scrutiny and persecution," Charles articulated with conviction.

In response, Alex offered a knowing smile, shaking his head as he contemplated, "Charles is truly a chip off the same block as Captain America. He's all about ideals."

Aware that Charles' vision wasn't universally embraced among Mutants, Alex recognized the diversity of perspectives. Some merely sought a stable life, exemplified by individuals like Emma. Life had nudged her towards the Hellfire Club, a path she might not have chosen under different circumstances.
