Chapter 49: Transport Lizard Legion
"Okay, I'll do it," Spider-Man agreed without hesitation. Chris couldn't help but feel that Spider-Man had truly changed, perhaps because of Mary's influence.
Chris retrieved a small box and handed it to Spider-Man, saying, "Inside are a multifunctional watch and a wireless headset. With these, you can contact my smart assistant, Optimus, for assistance with any electronic issues."
Spider-Man accepted the items silently.
"When do you plan to act?" Chris inquired.
"Tomorrow. I need to gather more information about SHIELD to avoid any mistakes," Spider-Man replied.
"Alright, I'll await your good news," Chris replied.
After parting ways with Spider-Man, Chris made his way to Professor Lizard's hideout.
The professor was still packing his belongings and was delighted to see Chris, assuming he had come to escort him.
"Chris, I'll finish up quickly and be ready to accompany you to the private island tomorrow," Professor Lizard exclaimed.
"No rush. I just came to check in," Chris responded with a smile.
"Oh, and you mentioned that Mary asked you for a bottle of lizard DNA serum yesterday. What did she need it for?" Professor Lizard inquired as he packed.
Chris's smile faded as he replied, "I didn't send Mary to you for the lizard DNA serum. After our contract was terminated and she left, I cut off all contact with her."
"Oh! So she lied to me. But what does she want with the lizard DNA serum?" Professor Lizard wondered aloud.
Chris didn't have an answer, so he instructed Optimus, "Optimus, call Peter's number."
"As you command," Optimus acknowledged, initiating the call.
Once connected, Chris wasted no time and asked, "Peter, your girlfriend deceived Professor Lizard into giving her a bottle of lizard DNA serum in my name. Are you aware of this?"
There was a sigh from Spider-Man on the other end of the line before he responded, "Unfortunately, yes. While I'm not sure why she tricked Professor Lizard into giving her the serum, I do know what she intends to do with it."
"What does she plan to do?" Chris inquired, curiosity piqued.
"She wants to kill you," Spider-Man stated seriously.
Chris was left speechless.
He knew rejecting Mary would likely lead to her animosity, but he never anticipated she would resort to murder.
"Mary must have realized she couldn't defeat me as a regular person, so she tricked Professor Lizard into taking the lizard DNA serum, hoping to gain strength," Chris speculated.
"Do you know where she is now?" Chris inquired.
"I don't know. After a huge fight with her family, she ran away without taking anything. I searched for her but couldn't find her. I never expected she'd hide in the sewers and dupe Professor Lizard into giving her the DNA serum. Chris, you need to be careful. Mary is truly unpredictable," Spider-Man cautioned.
"You loved her so much. Why aren't you still looking for her?" Chris questioned.
"I... I don't love her anymore. She's not the Mary I knew. I've chosen to move on," Spider-Man confessed emotionally.
"So, your girlfriend is coming after me to kill, and you're indifferent?" Chris sighted.
Among the three—Chris, Spider-Man, and Mary—Chris was clearly innocent. He had never dated Mary; she had always pursued him. Spider-Man's misunderstanding only added to Chris's frustration and blame.
Any sane person would be furious at the prospect of being targeted for murder.
"I have nothing to do with her anymore, so I don't care. It's your problem!" Spider-Man retorted.
"Idiot," Chris muttered, instructing Optimus to end the call.
Professor Lizard, overhearing the conversation, volunteered to help Chris eliminate Mary. "Chris, I'll assist you in dealing with Mary," he offered eagerly.
"Forget it," Chris dismissed the idea. He knew Professor Lizard's methods were shady, and he feared Mary might overpower him instead.
"Optimus, locate Mary," Chris commanded.
"As you wish," Optimus complied.
Shortly after, Optimus reported, "Sir, I've discovered that Mary never left the Osborn Group after entering. My analysis suggests she may have sought assistance from Green Goblin Harry."
"Ah, forget it," Chris sighed. He had initially considered taking Mary out, but realizing she was still fixated on him dampened his resolve.
Despite her intentions, Chris couldn't shake the memories of their past intimacy, leaving him conflicted.
After considering the situation, Mary realized she wouldn't be able to reach the private island anyway. If she attempted to cause trouble, SHIELD and some superheroes would swiftly intervene. But if she comes between him and his plans then he will end her himself.
Turning to Professor Lizard, Chris asked, "Professor Lizard, how much more packing do you have to do? If it's not much, I can take you to the private island today."
"It's not much. Just give me a few hours, and I'll be ready," Professor Lizard replied confidently.
"Okay," Chris agreed.
He then instructed Optimus, "Send all the armors from the private island. Also, arrange for a cargo ship to wait at the beach, and have a hundred trucks ready for us on the outskirts of the city."
In the age of the internet, even though Optimus wasn't human, he could utilize online resources to hire humans to carry out tasks.
Professor Lizard didn't have much equipment, just bottles and jars of liquids, along with a vast army of lizards. He requested a cargo ship solely to transport his Lizard Legion.
Chris took the initiative to assist with the cleanup.

Two hours later, Chris and Professor Lizard led a substantial number of Lizard Legions out of a remote sewer entrance on the outskirts of the city. Most of the lizard army had been eliminated by Chris, leaving only a few hundred survivors. The rest were small, non-mutated lizards, numbering in the tens of thousands.
As the transportation company dispatched a hundred large trucks to the designated location, they were startled to find lizards everywhere. They immediately floored the accelerator, attempting to flee.
Chris gestured to halt them.
Over a dozen armors, armed with Gatling machine guns, rotating missile launchers, and shoulder-mounted missile launchers, aimed at the hundred large trucks. The drivers, intimidated, complied and turned back.
Under Professor Lizard's command, the Lizard Legion swiftly boarded the trucks.
Once all the lizards were loaded, Chris controlled the Transformers and flew with Professor Lizard to the seaside.
After the hundred trucks transported the Lizard Legion to the beach, Professor Lizard directed them to board the cargo ship.
Three hours later, Chris and the others arrived at the private island.
Chris instructed Professor Lizard to organize the Lizard Legion in the island's woods before leading him into the villa. As for Professor Lizard's bottles and jars, Optimus would take care of them.
Chris then instructed Optimus to notify everyone to come out and meet Professor Lizard.
Helen was the first to emerge. Upon seeing Professor Lizard's appearance, she gasped in horror, covering her mouth with her hands.
"Ah! A monster!" she screamed loudly.
