Chapter 27: Dragon [3]

"Kekekeke…."

"Kuahahahahaha!"

"This is it! This is my peak! Fear me!" Jorren shouted, his voice loud. It reached everyone's ears.

"It's a monster that can speak the human tongue," many misunderstood, succumbing to their fear.

Everyone within the barrier and those outside, from different buildings, trembled at the sight of the majestic Red-scaled dragon!

They would close the door shut, bang it forcefully, and stay inside. They didn't want to die!

"Sia, are you alright?" a young woman in her mid-twenties asked a little nine-year-old girl who wore a blue frock with white dots all over.

Similar to the lady, she had brown hair with two ponytails.

"Yes, mamma... but you..." the little girl cried as she looked at her mother, who was stuck under the rubble.

Dirt stuck to her tear-drenched face as she looked at the horrifying scene of her mother being trapped.

"Mamma, let's go. Come!" she called out, her voice loud, but amidst the cries in the surroundings, it felt like a pin dropped in the age of chaos.

"N-no. Listen, Sia, go to safety," the woman said, looking at her daughter while gulping chunks of saliva.

The hope of having her daughter escape barely kept her from crying, from breaking down in front of her!

"No, mamma! Come with me!" Sia said, extending her hand to offer help in pulling her out.

But it was next to impossible - pulling the woman out from the 120kg rock! Moreover, there were many other humans stuck under and crushed, their blood forming something similar to a glue that kept them stuck together.

Furthermore, the dragon's presence was commanding fear, due to which the mother wanted her daughter to get away to safety as fast as possible. But the poor girl could hardly leave or run away without her mother - for she too was scared.

"A Grand wizard... that's a possibility," Marie said after hearing Jessie's words.

"You really think that—" Jessie wanted to counter further, but the dragon's voice startled her, forcing her to pause.

"It is not entirely impossible," Jessie added, her face drenched with sweat as she gulped down a large chunk of saliva.

"Yeah, and—" They were about to dispute the matter when the loud roar that translated into human tongue caught their attention again.

"FEAR ME!" he screamed, looking at all the humans below him.

Momentarily, large gusts of wind caused some trouble due to the flaps of the gigantic dragon. But it was not too damaging, almost incomparable to the gigantic rocks that were slung initially.

Jorren was enjoying the scene, wanting to create more fear for his master Diablos to feast on.

He didn't care about their lives, but at the same time, he didn't want them dead. If they died, then who would fear them?

The curse spell that he used - the blood curse - it wouldn't kill the infected easily. It would make them bleed a lot, confuse them, and cause the birth of fear within them. He wanted suffering that accompanied fear.

"HAHAHAHA!" his laughter echoed in the area, filling everyone's ears with a heavy sound.

But this laughter didn't last long as Jorren's eyes landed on large dome-shaped barriers which accompanied some humans within. Upon careful glance, he noticed that two witches had erected the barrier, and within it were many people who were being protected.

"How dare you not die?" Those were the words that left his gigantic mouth upon noticing the few survivors.

Fury coursed through his body, and within seconds, he conjured a ball of blue fire in its mouth. With the aim being the barrier, he blast-fired the attack straight at it, wanting to destroy it entirely.

BOOM!

A long fire breath collided with the barrier, its impact heavy, way heavier than what the two witches could handle.

Creak-crack!

"N-no!" Marie and Jessie were rather fearful.

The moment their pupils reflected the blue breath being launched, their faces were covered with intense sweating. Saliva could barely be gulped with their throats drying away.

By no means could the barrier withstand the attack! Even they knew that.

But they had no choice other than holding and hoping onto it.

With both their wands raised to the sky, they kept chanting the spell of erecting and adding new layers and strengthening and restoring the previous ones at the same time.

Unfortunately, they had little time between the firing and the impact.

With a loud boom, the attack collided with the first barrier, shattering it entirely.

The attack didn't stop - it penetrated the second layer, the third, and the fourth - ultimately reaching the final, the fifth layer.

While the sound of glass shards colliding echoed due to the crack and destruction of the four layers, the last layer somehow managed to stay intact, provided many other wizards and witches who were on the ground raised their wands and provided their magic energy, strengthening the barrier.

"We can't sit here and leave our fate in their hands!" said an old lady, her mouth filled with blood.

Hearing her, many more started to raise their wands.

Marie and Jessie couldn't help but chuckle after hearing and seeing the determination.

Facing the barrier again, they used every last bit of magic energy they had and incanted a stronger barrier spell that would build another five layers and strengthen the last layer that had cracks at the same time.

"Amophis!" both of them chanted, causing the strengthening of the shield while still holding on.

The shield started to restore, and the cracks started to vanish.

And when everyone thought that they had built a barrier strong enough to withstand the fire breath, the attack all of a sudden stopped.

Zwoop-

Utter silence surrounded the scene, as if the dragon had left the place. Confused, they tried to peek through the semi-opaque barrier to see what was wrong, only to find the red-scaled dragon charging a much bigger attack.

This time, with its mouth wide open, Jorren conjured a gigantic ball of fire that spanned over 100 meters in radius.

"Let's see you block this."
