Chapter 2: Stark Expo
1943 Stark Expo
In the buzzing plaza full of innovation depicting what will be in the future, countless people attending this special event hosted by Billionaire Howard Stark. Among these people was a girl who looked about 5'9ft tall, 21, and of Japanese descent with short black hair and a little red strip on the left side of her bangs.
Her name was Ryuko after finding herself transported from the Overworld 3 months ago and adapting to this new world and being turned human she once again felt joy, after turning into an enderman by failing to defeat the Enderdragon she was cursed to transform into a hideous tall dark creature who will hate anything that looks into its eyes, she sometimes manages to communicate with passing humans but she can only form words backward.
Even though she is happy to be turned back into a human she still gets discriminated against by people because of her 'Japanese descent' because of the war. She was fine with it as it was still better than being a monster, but if humans found out that she still had her teleportation abilities they would consider her a freak.
Sighing to herself after being rejected by a popcorn vendor just because of her looks she went to stand near a statue of a man kneeling and playing a trumpet, waiting for someone she had met who she had become first friends with, even inviting her for a double date which she accepted because she had no goals at the moment and to meet here again.
She was waiting with one of Bucky's friends Connie, who was friendly with her, asking if she was okay.
Telling Connie that she was alright they waited for their dates to arrive.
A couple of minutes pass and Bucky's friend shouted. "Hey Bucky!" while waving her hand in the arm signaling him to come over.
"Hey Connie, Ryuko, glad you could make it." Greeted Bucky to the two girls. "This is my friend, Steve, I plan for him to join us on our double date and see who gets who." Bucky introduced Steve while smiling at the two girls. Starting their date.
After exploring the plaza for a couple of minutes in the pavilion. Ryuko started a conversation with Steve who seemed to be looking for something.
"So tell me more about yourself. This is a date after all, or we could start as friends, I'm Ryuko Matoi by the way," Ryuko asked and extended her hand for a handshake waiting for a reply.
"Well uh, I'm Steve Rogers." Steve was surprised that a woman was starting a conversation with him.
(A/N: Don't worry I won't ship these two, Cap can have Peggy.)
"Tell me more about yourself and I'll tell you about me as well."
"Well, I always wanted to join the army and help my country, Before failing 5 exam tries." Stopping for a moment to think of another answer. "Seeing people fighting in the war, I just can't sit around and do less than them who serve for their country."
"Do you want to kill people?"
"No. I don't want to kill people, I only want to fight alongside people and contribute to the war and protect my country."
Ryuko thought for a moment and then answered. "You know I always wanted to fight for a big cause too with people I can call a team," Ryuko remembered going alone to fight the Ender dragon because she was rejected to form a team to kill the Dragon, before failing miserably. Before Ryuko could leave Steve confused she quickly added. "-I meant to fight alongside my fellow Japs yeah before realizing that they are on the bad side of the war."
Steve gave an apologetic nod and related to what it feels like to not be able to serve your country, even if that country is an enemy in the eyes of his allies.
"How about you tell me about yourself, o-of course if you are okay with it." It was Steve's turn to ask her a question.
The girl looked at the short man and quickly thought and said. "Well, I grew up never knowing who my parents were probably both Japanese and leaving me on a doorstep in the orphanage and then growing up from there until I was independent to take care of myself." She made a lie about a false backstory as her real one was just from the Overworld before being transported to this strange place full of stuff she did not find in her old world.
A speaker suddenly rang and welcomed the visitors. "Welcome to the Modern Marvels Pavilion and the world of tomorrow! A greater world, a better world!"
Steve was going to ask another question before being cut off by Connie, James' date. "Oh, my God! It's starting!"
A female announcer spoke in a microphone "Ladies and gentlemen! Mister Howard Stark!"
A young and handsome man entered the stage and waved at the audience especially the ladies who caught his attention, before handing his hat to the announcer and giving her a quick passionate French kiss.
Cheers and whistles came from the audience and occasional ladies screamed their confession to him.
Wiping the kiss off his mouth with a tissue Howard started his presentation. "Ladies and Gentlemen, what if I told you in just a few short years, your automobiles wouldn't even need to touch the ground at all."
During that, Steve offered Ryuko some popcorn which she gladly accepted and thanked him, because she wanted to try this earlier.
"Yes. Thanks, Mandy, with Stark Gravitic-Reversion-Technology you'll be able to do just that." Smiling and flipping a lever.
While audiences were mesmerized by the scene before them awed at the revolutionary tech this would impact in the future. Bucky unconsciously said out loud. "Holy cow."
Ryuko who had never seen technology like this besides the basic Redstone contraptions she had seen in her previous world opened her jaw and dropped the popcorn she was eating from Steve.
'These humans are so advanced, do redstone even exist in this world?' Ryuko thought and remembered not seeing redstone contraptions since being transported here.
'Is this what would happen if we also didn't have Redstone in the Overworld?'
After a few seconds of hovering, the GRT malfunctioned and dropped the car, making the audience gasp and clap.
"I did say a few years didn't I?" Howard masks the sudden malfunction of his work with a 'it's-too-early' trope.
Steve was looking around the recruitment office before finding a poster helping you locate it. "Hey, I gotta go somewhere," Steve told Ryuko who was still lost in her thought. "Huh uh okay.." replied.
Even though Steve wanted to talk to Ryuko more he still wanted to try his luck in the recruitment office.
"Hey, Steve what do you say we treat these girls-" James found Steve missing from his original pose earlier and already had an idea of where he was already going.

A/N
Hey here is chapter one of this fanfic [Stark Expo] focusing on James, Steve, and our mob Enderman or Ryuko, just imagine her as 5'9 (same height as Winter Soldier) and a lot older than the original Ryuko (THEY DON'T HAVE SAME PERSONALITY) I'm just using her character design (because I'm not creative) and because it fits on the costume Ender man would wear on her superpower days.
Reminder again I AM NOT GOING TO SHIP STEVE AND RYUKO Don't worry, our captain can have Peggy. Instead, I want Ryuko to fall in love with Bucky.
Thank you for reading Also I decided that this story would take on a chronological path of the timeline in the MCU, this also has no X Men elements (except for a few mobs but they wouldn't be mutants).
Thanks for reading and please leave a review, Don't expect a fast release of chapters though as this is just made for fun. But if you enjoy it, I'm gonna commit to studying the MCU timeline with all the AoS Side stories the defenders all that stuff and reference them.
I'm also going to need help on naming mobs!!!!
Finally, each Movie and TV series has a mob and returning mobs, I'm still thinking about what to add to The Defenders characters' shows because I haven't watched all of them yet so give me some suggestions on what mob in what movie will appear.
