Chapter 9: An unknown destination

Everyone is shocked by this, but Reno and Kirito remain emotionless.
"Mom, I beg you..." Reno said in his mind, observing the scene without any emotion on his face.
"Don't remove our Nevergears without good reason!" Reno and Kirito shout simultaneously in their minds.
"You'll have to finish the game to get out of here, good luck to everyone." Kayaba finishes and simply begins to disappear from the square.
Kirito and Reno then noticed two things in their own hands.
They were unusual things that a player shouldn't see in the world, so the two ended up seeing for a moment their marks that came from the real world.
Kirito looks at his right hand and, reinforcing his memories of his time outside SAO, sees a drop of blood running down his thumb.
And that was just an imagination that arose in Kirito's mind, which was when he cut his finger with the page of a magazine.
However, this imagination was so realistic that the swordsman remained in deep silence... and only wanted to understand what he would do next.
Later, Reno Kashi was shown at the back of the square watching his hand as well.
But this time it wasn't underneath, it was on the top of his hand where the drawing of the egg that his sister had drawn when she was sleeping soundly was shown.
That simple drawing that had appeared in Kashi's vision also reminded him of the fateful dream he had when he was in the real world.
His expression remained confused and sad because a game like this wanting to drive his mind crazy was not the right motto to follow for a project as grand as Sword Art Online.
In a few seconds, after spotting the egg on his hand using his own eyes, he closed his hand into a fist and punched the pillar next to him hard to vent the anger he felt.
"Son of a bitch, do you think it's nice to mess with other people's minds?" Reno shouted so loudly that some of the players standing in the square could hear his aggressive tone from afar.
Reno watched the people around him and gritted his teeth in anger.
He then fled the square at full speed, avoiding paying any attention to the others there.
Seeing this difference created by Kayaba, their real appearances end up taking over the fictional appearances created by SAO, where players customize them the way they would like them to be.
Marks or wounds shouldn't be added in this procedure, as the server ends up replacing blood with rainbow triangles after the individual's death.
However, when Reno saw his true appearance which belonged only in reality... his features were exposed to all the players, including all the others together who could see themselves as they were in the real world.
But what had to be impossibly turned out to be possible.
The server simply generated the drawing of the egg on Kashi's hand by accident, and since it was considered a mark... and marks can't be visible in-game, Reno was the only one who had the possible privilege of having something as realistic as that without anyone finding out.
However, that somehow didn't suit Reno Kashi's mood at all... he was so arrogant and cold that the boy didn't care about anything else that was going on.
His face remained emotionless for a few seconds as he walked towards the exit from the main square.
The breeze coming across the reddish square whipped Reno and Kirito's hair as they fled aggressively.
However, Kirito was in company with Klein... and they wanted to meet in a quieter, safer space.
But the moment after the escape, Kashi saw that Kirito and Klein were running in the opposite direction.
As much as he was trying to ignore everything around him, he felt the need to try to follow them without having a plausible reason.
So Reno just ran after Kirito and Klein without them realizing they were being chased.
Four minutes pass, and Kirito and Klein are together in an alley almost next to the square, where they come to a sudden stop.
"Kirito, I'm worried about my friends who are still there in the initial square, I don't know if it's safe to leave them alone." Klein said, looking into Kirito's eyes and simultaneously imagining his friends trapped there.
"If it were just one, not two or three... maybe it would be possible to give one-" Kirito said in his mind, thinking of a possibility to improve Klein's situation a little, but he was quickly interrupted.
Klein found himself at the moment to cut him off and say a few words to him.
"Sorry, you've already helped me a lot, haven't you? You don't have to worry about that, go on to the next town." Klein said, trying to encourage him and show him how much credit he got for helping his friend on that mountain of boars.
Kirito was still silent, and a disappointed expression was on his face.
But Klein surprised him by giving more details so that the boy would feel safe accepting his choice.
"I was part of an alliance a long time ago in the last game I played, you can rest assured." Klein points out, showing that he also has vast experience with guilds and groups that can gradually evolve.
And Klein further emphasizes that he could survive on his own with what he has learned alongside Kirito.
A few seconds later, Kirito listens carefully to his words of persuasion and responds with little dialogue.
"All right, nice meeting you, Klein." Kirito said with short words and turned his back on his friend.
"If anything happens, send me a message." Kirito ends his final dialog by looking at the floor instead of Klein's eyes.
