"Don't you love me anymore?" She asked, wanting to hear his answer but simultaneously dreading what he would say. "Let me rephrase that..." She paused before asking again.

"Did you even love me at all?" She guessed that was the better question. If he was still in love with that woman, how could he say he loved her?

How could he promise to love her forever if he still longed all these years to be with another woman? She had many questions, but would she like the answers?

No! She doubted.

"Of course, I love you, Chantal." He spoke her name with such affection that she wanted to believe him. But his following words were like knives cutting through her heart.
