Chapter 174: Whispers in the Dark (1)

As the day gave way and the evening took over, the ferocious blizzard outside showed no signs of stopping. Lost in his thoughts, Secretary Cade walked ahead. The echoes of his footsteps against the floors resonated through the silent corridors of the first floor, mixing with the batters of the wind from the blizzard.

Turning a corner, Secretary Cade almost collided with someone. After his initial surprise, he recognized the person as the butler who had served dinner to Nicolaus. 

"Huh?" Cade's gaze landed on the butler, and he immediately registered the poor man's injury. He had a broken nose, blood dripping from his nostrils, and a forming bruise on the side of his face. "What happened?" he asked.

Still visibly shaken from the incident, the butler recounted the incident to Secretary Cade, his voice trembling as he revealed, "Th, The Marquess hurled the tray right a, at my face."
