Emily looked at Richard and Robert, confusion imprinted on her face. "Is this some kind of game you're playing?"

Richard took a deep breath before explaining. "It's not a game, Emily. When I came to your house to propose, you told me you were entering a contract marriage with Robert Rawlings. I was devastated, especially since Robert is my twin brother. I left your house and went straight to him, telling him everything. We were both confused about what to do, but I convinced him to go through with the marriage for the sake of the company."

Emily's voice trembled. "So you just gave up on me like that?"

Richard's expression was pained. "I didn't want to, but I felt I had no choice. I never expected that you were the one my brother was supposed to marry. We did it for the company's sake, but it was a difficult decision for me."
