Chapter 12: Divination.

"I never really had disciples before. I'm just a Body Refinement full completion master. Your realm is just one level below mine. Do you still want me as your master?" Alex reminded Yuanzi Fengying, not wanting her to be disappointed.

Unbeknownst to him, his words held a deep impact on Fengying's emotions.

"(How is this possible? He's just one level above me, and he can defeat me this easily?!!)" Far from feeling disappointed, Fengying was now even more convinced that Alex was the person she had divinated in her dreams. She smiled at him and replied,

"No, I don't care about that, Senior."

Alex looked at her, feeling somewhat helpless. He didn't expect her to be so determined.

"Alright then, I am your master from this day on." Alex extended his hand, offering to help her stand up.

Fengying took his hand and immediately knelt on one knee, bowing deeply. "Disciple Fengying greets Master."

Alex couldn't help but sigh inwardly at the formality. "I'm not really a fan of that 'Master' title. You can call me Alex from now on."

"(Alex? Is that some kind of nickname?)" Fengying thought to herself, a bit puzzled. However, she nodded in acceptance.

"How could I do that, Master? It wouldn't be appropriate."

"Are you declining an order from your teacher? Fine, just call me Teacher Alex if you prefer," Alex said with a smile, secretly enjoying the idea of being a teacher.

"Disciple greets Teacher Alex," Fengying said respectfully.

---

[Congratulations! You have acquired Heavenly Divination Technique.]

---

Alex smiled as he received the notification. He looked at Fengying and said, "Alright now, student, we can leave."

Both of them exited the bathhouse. The innkeeper was still spooked from the trembling room, but Alex gave him a hundred silver coins to ensure he wouldn't spread any rumors.

--

Out in the forest:

Alex let out a sigh and glanced back to see Fengying obediently following him.

"Why are you following me?" Alex stopped abruptly and turned to her.

"Disciple has to learn from Teacher every second," Fengying replied dutifully.

"What the hell? Isn't that bullshit? I thought you'd learn from your teacher once a day, and then your teacher would teach another student, and so on," Alex grumbled, relying on his past life's experiences.

"Wait, is that how it's supposed to be?" Fengying was just as confused, realizing that her concept of the teacher-disciple relationship was completely different from Alex's.

"Besides, aren't you an assassin? A secret one, at that. Don't you have to report your failed assassination?" Alex raised a valid point.

"Oh, yes! How could I forget?" Fengying's anxiety surged as she remembered her neglected duty.

"Go do that then. We'll meet again later," Alex instructed her.

"But where can I meet you, Master?" Fengying inquired.

Alex halted and explained, "I am a servent disciple of a sect called... Crimson... Ugh, I can't remember the name." He smacked his forehead in frustration at his inability to recall such a crucial detail.

"Uhm, it's a sect north of here, a few kilometers ahead. Just go there and let an elder know you're my servant or something. You'll be able to find me. But remember to keep your status as my disciple hidden; it could cause unnecessary trouble."

"Teacher?" Fengying called out to Alex.

"What now?" Alex was starting to get impatient, eager to test his new technique.

"But you haven't taught me anything, Teacher," Fengying pointed out with a sweet voice.

"Gah... you know what? Here, take this bamboo." Alex grabbed a piece of bamboo and held it up. He then demonstrated a simple action by blowing into it.

Brrrr!!!

The bamboo produced a faint sound as it vibrated.

"Got it?" Alex asked.

"Yes, Teacher," Fengying replied.

"Good. Now you try." Alex handed her another bamboo.

"Copy what I did," he said in a stern tone.

Fengying hesitated, then imitated Alex's action. However, her attempt yielded no results. Thinking she had failed, she attempted a different approach, thrusting the bamboo in and out of her mouth rapidly.

"Ayo!!!, What the fuck are you doing?" Alex yanked the bamboo away, alarmed.

"But, Teacher, I—" Fengying started to explain.

"No excuses. Don't do anything sus like that. Just take the bamboo, blow into it like a flute around 10,000 times a day, and eventually, you'll grasp a Divine Sound Technique. Got it? Yes? Okay, thank you, bye now." Alex hastily instructed her and then dashed away.

"(Sus?) Teacher b—" Fengying began to ask a question, but before she could finish, Alex had vanished from her sight.

Fengying let out a sigh and placed the bamboo to her lips. She carefully blew into it, creating a gentle melody that resonated through the air.

And then, in an unexpected turn of events, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

A massive explosion ripped through the area, obliterating everything within a 30-meter radius except for a few standing trees.

Fengying opened her eyes, shocked by the sheer power of the technique she had accidentally unleashed. Nevertheless, she smiled widely and clutched the bamboo to her chest.

"I knew Teacher was the best!" she exclaimed with delight. She decided it was time to leave the destruction behind and headed back to the assassin association.

Meanwhile, Alex had already put a considerable distance between himself and the area. "I hope my nonsense can keep her occupied for a while," he muttered to himself. He then added, "I just hope she's not as clueless as she seems."

He continued on his way, realizing that the sect buildings were now within his sight. He was almost ready to return.

"Stats."

Smirking, he thought, "(It seems the System isn't finished giving me its gifts. Let's see how this new technique works.)"

"Before that, though, I should head back to the sect." He quickened his pace, eager to return.
