Leo and Ariana participated in a raid on a supply convoy that belonged to the mage. They joined a team of ten dragonkin, led by Ryn, who had scouted the convoy's route and timing. They waited for the convoy to pass by a narrow valley, where they ambushed it from both sides.
The convoy consisted of a dozen wagons, guarded by two dozen soldiers and four dragons. The wagons carried weapons and supplies, such as swords and shields, food and water, potions and scrolls. The soldiers wore metal armor and helmets, and carried spears and crossbows. The dragons were large and fierce, and breathed fire and smoke.
The raiders attacked the convoy with surprise and speed. They used their swords and bows, their spells and charms, their fire and ice. They targeted the soldiers and the wagons first, killing or wounding them, destroying or stealing them. They avoided the dragons as much as possible, knowing that they were too strong and dangerous.
Leo and Ariana fought bravely and skillfully. Leo used his Starblade to cut through the soldiers' armor and flesh, leaving them dead or dying. Ariana used her magic to cast fireballs and lightning bolts, setting them on fire or shocking them. They also helped each other out, covering each other's backs.
They managed to steal some weapons and supplies, loading them on their horses or backpacks. They also freed some prisoners, who were chained to the wagons. They were human villagers, who had been captured by the mage's forces. They were grateful to the raiders, who gave them some food and water, and told them to run away.
They were about to retreat, when they heard a loud roar.
They looked up, and saw that one of the dragons had noticed them.
It was a red dragon, the largest and fiercest of the four. It had scales as hard as steel, claws as sharp as blades, teeth as big as daggers. It had eyes as bright as fire, wings as wide as clouds, a tail as long as a whip.
It was angry and hungry.
It flew towards them, breathing fire.
It said to them,
"How dare you attack my master's convoy? You will pay for your insolence!"
The raiders panicked.
They said to each other,
"Oh no! It's a dragon! What do we do?"
Ryn said to them,
"Run! Run for your lives!"
He turned his horse around, and galloped away.
The other raiders followed him.
They ran away from the dragon, hoping to escape.
But the dragon was faster than them.
It chased them down the valley, spitting fire at them.
It hit some of them with its fire, burning them alive.
It hit some of them with its claws, tearing them apart.
It hit some of them with its teeth, biting them in half.
It hit some of them with its tail, smashing them into pieces.
It killed half of them in minutes.
Leo and Ariana were among the survivors.
They dodged the dragon's attacks, using their skills and luck.
They also fought back, using their weapons and magic.
Leo swung his Starblade at the dragon's head, hoping to cut it off.
Ariana cast a freezing spell at the dragon's wings, hoping to freeze them solid.
But their efforts were in vain.
The dragon was too strong for them.
It shrugged off their attacks, as if they were nothing.
It laughed at their attempts, as if they were jokes.
It said to them,
"Foolish mortals! You think you can harm me with your toys? You think you can stop me with your tricks? You are nothing but insects to me! I will crush you like bugs!"
It continued to chase them down the valley.
It continued to kill them one by one.
It continued to enjoy its hunt.
Leo and Ariana realized that they had no chance of escaping or defeating the dragon.
They realized that they were going to die.
They looked at each other with fear and sadness.
Leo braced himself, waiting for the final blow, but he didn't feel anything. he opened his eyes and saw the Ariana had cast a spell on the dragon that made it stop moving. It would only last for a couple of hours, so they both hurried back to the resistance base.
Leo and Ariana prepared for the final assault on the fortress. They had survived the dragon's attack, thanks to Ariana. She had cast a spell on the red dragon, that made it motionless for a few hours. She had used her book of spells, which contained a rare and powerful spell that could paralyze any creature. She had risked her life to cast it, knowing that it would drain her energy and magic.
She had succeeded in casting it, just before the red dragon could kill them. She had saved them both from certain death.
She had then collapsed on the ground, exhausted and unconscious.
Leo had carried her on his back, and had run away from the dragon. He had hoped that the spell would last long enough for them to escape.
He had also thanked her for saving him.
He had then met the friendly dragon, who had helped them further. It had flown them to a safe place, where they could rest and heal. It had then flown away, without saying a word. They had wondered who it was, and why it had helped them.
They had returned to the camp, with the few survivors of the raid. They had been welcomed by Rax and the others, who had been relieved to see them alive. They had also been praised by Rax and the others, who had been impressed by their bravery and skill.
They had rested for a day, recovering from their wounds and fatigue. They had also checked their weapons and supplies, making sure they were ready for the final battle.
They had then made a plan to infiltrate the fortress, using a secret tunnel that Rax knew about. He had told them that there was an old mine shaft under the mountain, that led to a hidden entrance in the fortress. He had said that it was guarded by only a few soldiers, who could be easily taken out. He had said that it was their best chance of getting inside.
They had also made a backup plan, in case something went wrong. They had agreed that if they were discovered or separated, they would meet at the tower where the Dragon's Eye was kept. They had said that it was their main target, and that they would destroy it at all costs.
They had then said goodbye to their friends, who wished them good luck and success. They had hugged Ryn and Rax, who thanked them for their help and friendship. They had also hugged each other, who expressed their love and devotion.
They then left the camp, and headed towards the fortress.
They attacked the fortress, hoping to end the mage's tyranny.
Leo and Ariana entered the fortress through the tunnel. They had followed Rax's map and instructions, which led them to the mine shaft. They had found the entrance, which was hidden by some rocks and bushes. They had moved them aside, and entered the tunnel.
They saw that it was dark and narrow, but also long and deep. They saw some wooden beams and metal rails, which supported the tunnel and marked the way. They saw some carts and tools, which were used by the miners who had worked there. They saw some bones and rats, which were the only signs of life there.
They walked through the tunnel, using their torches and senses. They avoided some traps and guards along the way, which were placed by the mage's forces. They encountered some spikes and pits, which they jumped over or climbed out of. They encountered some soldiers and dogs, which they killed or knocked out.
They managed to overcome them with their skills and teamwork. They used their swords and magic, their wits and courage. They also helped each other out, covering each other's backs.
They reached the heart of the fortress, where they found the Dragon's Eye and the mage.
They saw that it was a large and circular room, with a high ceiling and a low floor. They saw that it was filled with candles and crystals, which lit up the room and amplified the magic. They saw that it was decorated with banners and statues, which showed the mage's symbol and image.
They saw that in the center of the room, there was a pedestal with a glass dome on top of it. They saw that inside the dome, there was a large and round gemstone, which glowed with a bright and pulsing light. They saw that it was the Dragon's Eye, the ancient artifact of great power and mystery.
They also saw that next to the pedestal, there was a man with a cloak and a mask on him. They saw that he had a staff and a ring on him, which were his sources of magic. They saw that he was the mage, the enemy of all living beings.
He looked at them with surprise and anger.
He said to them,
"Who are you? How did you get here?"
Leo said to him,
"We're here to stop you. We're here to destroy the Dragon's Eye."
The mage laughed.
He said to them,
"Stop me? Destroy the Dragon's Eye? You must be joking. You don't have a chance against me. You don't have a clue about what you're dealing with."
Ariana said to him,
"We know exactly what we're dealing with. We know that you're a tyrant who enslaves dragons and humans alike. We know that you're a coward who hides behind your mask and your magic. We know that you're a thief who stole the Dragon's Eye from its rightful owners."
The mage sneered.
He said to them,
"You know nothing, girl. You're just a foolish witch who meddles in things she doesn't understand. You're just a pathetic pawn who follows orders from others."
He then looked at Leo's sword, and said to him,
"And you're just a stupid boy who plays with toys he doesn't deserve. You're just a worthless worm who wields a weapon he can't control."
He then pointed at Leo's sword, and said to them,
"Where did you get that sword? Do you know what it is? Do you know what it can do?"
Leo said to him,
"I got this sword from Atlantis after the Sunblade and Moonblade merged into 1 sword. I know what it is. It's the Starblade. I know what it can do. It can cut through anything, even your Dragon's Eye."
The mage gasped.
He said to them,
"The Starblade? The legendary sword that is a combination of the Sunblade and the Moonblade? How did you find it? How did you activate it?"
Leo said to him,
"I found it by fate. I activated it by will."
The mage shook his head.
He said to them,
"No, no, no. This can't be happening. This can't be true."
He then clenched his fist.
He said to them,
"But it doesn't matter. It doesn't change anything. You still can't defeat me. You still can't destroy the Dragon's Eye."
He then raised his staff.
He said to them,
"I'll show you why."
He then cast a spell at them.
He said to them,
"Die!"
