Chapter 65: Chapter 65. Let's kill eacother
The Black Pearl sailed towards Wano, and soon, they were intercepted by a marine ship.
Spikewards held a pair of binoculars and looked ahead.
"Captain, it's a ship with a dog's head as it's figure head... It's say HQ-03 on its front sail." Spikewards relayed he information.
Everyone knows that, marine Hero Garp is known to sail this ship...
Ace walked forward.. he could take another route... But seing that no other ships were nearby, this might be his last chance to have a proper talk with his grandfather.
"Are you going to meet his" Nami asked seing his frown.
"... Yes."
Nami nodded and then sailed towards the marine ship.
Vice admiral Garp stood at the forefront of his ship with his arms crossed. He had a frown on his face. As soon as Ace escaped the marines ambush, he had left the marine base to meet his adopted grandson.
"Vice admiral..." His right hand man worriedly said.
"Don't worry, just do as I say." Garp commanded in an unusually serious manner.
"Yes sir." His ship then turned east, towards an island that was an hour away.
The black Pearl followed suit.
An hour later they reached a medium sized, uninhabitated island.
The Black Pearl was about a hundred meters from the HQ-03 ship. Both of them about 300, meter from the island. Garp ripped his shirt off and stood at the forefront of his deck, he looked at Ace and nodded to him before diving into the sea.
"Captain, is it a good idea to follow him to the island.. even if he's your grandfather?" Nami asked, hoping that Ace would change his mind. After all, Garp was a name that was up there with the big guys.
"Doesn't matter." Ace said, then smiled brightly at her to make her relax.
"He is one of the few people that could fight your father on equal grounds, no matter what, you should be careful." JoJo Pojo warned.
"I know, but don't worry. I know my gramps." Ace said before diving into the sea as well. Both of them swam towards the island for their meeting.
The demon Ace Pirates looked on worriedly.
"Be ready in case the marines tries to ambush us." JoJo commanded as the second in command. They nodded.
As soon as Ace arrived on the beach, he found his grandfather sitting in front of a fire, grilling a few fishes on sticks as he had arrived a while before Ace.
"Ace come and eat with me." Garp shouted at him.
Ace walked up to him and sat beside him.
"How ya been old man." Ace asked with a smile as he took one of the sticks with fish.
Garp sat there shirtless and still wet from the sea.
"Stressed, my grandkids won't listen to me." Garp admitted with a grin.
"Do you ever listen to the fleet commander of the Marines" Ace asked with a stinky eye.
*Whistle whistle* Garp looked away while whistling, pretending to not hear Ace's question.
"Hmm, you're here with no backup... Have you even told your superior that you're here?" Ace questioned once again.
"Brat, taste my fist of love!" Garp got annoyed and punched Ace.
Ace didn't move away as he felt a very strong punch hit his head.
"Ouch, couldn't ya held back a bit ol'man." Ace rubbed his head.
"Bwahahah, brat you've grown a lot since I've seen you." Garp said proudly.
"Hmm, my fist of love is probably stronger than yours by now." Ace said with a grin.
"I don't doubt it." Garp stopped laughing.
"Huh, ol' man, are your brain not working right?" Ace asked with worry.
Usually his gramps would start an all out war if he claimed such a thing. But instead he said 'I don't doubt it.'... what's he playing at?
"Roger..." Garp started his sentence which made Ace listen closely.
"Was an evil pirate... but he was a good man." Garp said a she thought back to those times.
"What are you getting at old man." Ace asked. Garp had never before spoken about Roger before.
"Ever since I adopted you, I saw the same willpower behind your eyes as Roger had, I knew you'd grow up to cause chaos..." Garp said as he poked his nose.
"... Are you disappointed?" Ace asked. After all, even if he doesn't say it, Garp was the closest thing he had to a father, and his opinion was something Ace cared deeply about, even if Ace was a bit rebellious.
"Bwahahaha, I'm proud of ya brat." Garp laughed.
"Tsk, I'm not a Brat anymore." Ace complained, but with a big smile. He could feel that his gramps cared a lot for him.
"You're an adult now, so I don't care if you become the next pirate King or revolutionary, or if you become a marine fleet admiral, as long as you do your best and stay a good guy." Garp explained, he wouldn't try to change Ace's mind as he was a grown up.
"I see..."
"But... Pirates and marines are enemies... And you chose the life of piracy... And I'm a marine. We're enemies from now on. If we meet, we'll have to kill each other." Garp said in a serious tone.
It sounded very convincing, but Ace knew what Garp was doing.
They could never be seen taking it easy on each other because of their relationship. Garp wanted Ace to treat him like a real enemy if they ever met on the battlefield.
But Ace knew that the old man would never actually fight his grandkids to the death for real. The old man is too much of a softie on the inside.
"..."
After eating the fish, silence overtook them as the flames danced.
"Are you going after Kaidou?" Garp asked.
"Huh,, how did you know?" Ace questioned.
"Sigh, it is as I thought, brat I've known you since you were a few days old. Ofcourse I understand what you want to do." Garp said as he stood up.
"But I can't let you fight that monster." Garp said.
Before Ace could respond, he felt a very, very powerful force blasting him into the woods of the island.
The force was so powerful that Ace couldn't stop his trajectory until he was smashed into a small mountain.
This medium sized island had a forrest in the middle and a small mountain in the center.
"Ouch, old man, you should fight more righteously." Ace complained as he stood up, he wants really harmed but...
That might have been the hardest punch he had taken to date. Had had flown at least 5 kilometers before exploding into the mountain
"Ouch." His head spun around slightly as he felt a pulsing pain because of that punch.
"If you want to fight those monsters, show me that you're at their level." Ace heard his grandfather's voice echo.
Ace looked up and saw a dot in in the sky slowly descending.
"Galaxy impact!"
