Chapter 49: Chapter 49. Fire is to burn
At the tower, most Donquixote pirates had been defeated, but when the remaining ones saw the sky being covered by strings, they lost the colour on their faces.
They knew what was about to happened and they might not survive to tell the story.
"NEH, NEH Law- kun, you might have defeated me... But you won't live to tell the tale now Uhuhuhu!" The defeated Trebol laughed.
He looked completely bruised up as he laid on the ground.
"Senior pink, what will happen to us now?" A few models in bikinis cried out as they saw the sky and heard Trebols words.
"Every baby is born then, at some point, the baby dies." Senior Pink spoke after moving his pacifier in his mouth.
"The baby dies, when he no longer is present in his body~" he took a step forward, as the sun started shining on him.
"The baby dies of natural causes, when he reached old age." He took another step forwards, the glimt of his glasses was dazzling.
"The baby dies, if he's killed." His brilliance was blinding.
"But even if he doesn't die of old age or natural causes, nor because he is killed, the baby still dies, when he grows to become a child, because he is no longer, a baby." Senior Pink finished his words as he started illuminating everyone that looked at him.
"KYAAAAAA HE'S SO HARDBOILED!!!!" The bikini models cried out as they hugged his legs.
"KYAAAA SENIOR PINK PLEASE GIVE ME BABIES SO THEY CAN DIEEEEEE!!!!"
"KYAAAAAA SENIOR PINK PLEASE ANNIHILATE THE WORLD SO YOU CAN REPLACE IT WITH WITH HARDBOILED BABY-MEN LIKE YOURSELF!!!!"
"KYAAAA SENIOR PINK, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEAAAAAAAAASE LET ME TOUCH YOUUUUUUUUR LEG HAAAAIR!!!!"
The bikini models were very moved by his words.
Although senior Pink spoke so bravely, his face was blue and yellow, Apoo had done a number on him.
"It's all over for you Demon Ace Pirates!" One of the Donquixote pirates laughed out.
"Nami, you guys have to escape.... No, there's nowhere to go now... We're all doomed." Violet hopelessly warned.
"SHADDAP SHADDAP SHADDAP, My cap'n will take care of it!!!" *NOM NOM* Bonney said while stuffing her mouth with pizza.
She was annoyed which was evident by the frown on her eyes, but her lips had a smiled as they devoured the pizza.
She did her best to finally get information about the pizza from Gladius.
Although she was very bruised as well. She barely looked any better than Gladius.
Most probably, she held back because she wanted information, even at the cost of her taking a few good punches.
Ace looked up as he a a cluster of strings reaching the sky and then enveloping the whole island.
Ace raised his thumbs at Doflamingo.
"Not bad!" Ace said with his thumb up, Doflamingo ignored him, which he would come to regret in a few seconds.
Ace's thumb turned into dark purple flames, as Ace looked up again.
"Up up and away!" Ace said as the purple flame on his thumb started rocketing towards the cluster of strings in the sky, right before they parted to envelop the island.
The dark purple flame, the size of a thumb reached the cluster of strings and then, as if the strings were made of gasoline, the strings started rapidly burning up.
Doflamingo tired to grow new strings but the flames had burnt off the cluster of strings connected to his palm and before he knew it, the umbrella of strings covering the island burnt up in just a second or two.
The whole island stared at the sky, not understanding what's going on.
On the castle, all the Donquixote pirates had their jaws dropped. To think that one of Doflamingo's greatest moves was... thwarted that easily.
"You imbecile, it seems like death is your only outcome." Doflamingo's voice changed, as if something inside him broke.
Suddenly all the buildings started turning into strings that rose up above them as they shot towards Ace.
'Awakening huh...' Ace thought as he readied himself to dodge.
Ace evaded and then continued countering but it was hard fighting as the strings were countless and individually, they were to thin to see with the naked eye.
Doflamingo sent haki infused strings from his fingers as he tried to cut up his opponent, while Ace evaded the surrounding that had turned into mass of strings.
"Five colour strings" Doflamingo coldly said as he swiped his fingers in Ace's direction.
5 thin strings invisible to the eyes were shot towards Ace.
Ace felt all of this with his observation Haki and was trapped as he got attacked from all directions, literally. If he stood still, he would be cut into a million pieces.
Suddenly, Ace started burning and turning into flames.
'If you think some flames will stopp my strings, you're gravely mistaken.' Doflamingo thought as he went all out and infused all his strings with Haki.
One thing those that haven't awakened Haki can't comprehend is, Haki is very stamina consuming. Haki is essentially willpower and to use it, is like staying hyper focused for long periods of time, which takes great stamina.
There's a reason why the elites of the world don't just just Haki for everything, they'd rather just win the fight without Haki and save it as a last resolve.
If two elites fight while going all out, their battle might last half a day to a day at most.
But if they battle while reserving their Haki and only using it strategically, they can last a week. For as long as their stamina can carry them without food and water.
Right now, Doflamingo had used the awakened form of his devil fruit abilities, which took a lot of energy to do as he turned the surrounding into strings and continuously controlled all for them, almost a 10th of Dressrosa had turned into strings, that were all heading straight for Ace.
And to use all of that, with Haki? There was no other way to explain it than to call it going all out.
Doflamingo was going all out.
Ace felt all of it with his observation Haki, and turned into flames. He turned from yellow, all the way into blue flames, then continued burning until it almost got white.
White flames were the hottest flames before they turn into plasma, and he could barely control flames at that temperature.
Doflamingo saw this but didn't care, his strings had gotten burnt before because he wasn't using Haki on them, but with Haki, it was different.
Ace reached the hottest he could control, right before turning into white flames.
All the strings headed straight for him burnt up in the blink of an eye. It all happened so fast that Doflamingo couldn't react to what happened next.
All the strings evaporated as soon as they came close to Ace.
It was scorching hot to the point that Doflamingo couldn't even stop his attack before a big chunk of his strings were... Just gone, turned into dark smoke that rose to the sky.
Everyone on Dressrosa felt the temperature rise by at least ten degrees celcius. They also witnessed huge clouds of dark smoke that burst towards the sky.
