Chapter 4: Chapter Three

The idea of owning a ranch like Vanessa and Don's had always appealed to me, and I couldn't think of anything better than just enjoying the peacefulness of the surroundings, away from the chaos of everyday life, being lost in my thoughts and enchanted by the autumn sight.

As I observed my surroundings and reflected on the enigmatic guy I had encountered on the plane, a sudden realization struck me. Perhaps this was the perfect moment to weave together the intricate threads of a captivating romance novel. Imagination sparked within me, fueled by the charm of this place and the intriguing mystery guy who had unknowingly become the inspiration for my next literary masterpiece.

Later that night, I almost missed the occasion I was supposed to attend because I was so confused about where I needed to go. Thankfully, I spotted Don, who I knew would be able to help me find Vanessa's location.

As I made my way towards Don, he greeted me with a compliment, teasing me about how fetching I looked that evening. He asked if I was going to Vanessa's bachelorette party, unaware of my current predicament. "I hope so, but I'm completely lost," I admitted, feeling a bit skittish. "Could you possibly accompany me, even if it's just until we find the door to the event?"

Don reassured me without hesitation, willing to lend a helping hand. He understood my struggle and was determined to assist. Together, we steered through the area, and I could hear the joyous laughter of the bridesmaids, along with Vanessa's distinctive voice. As I walked into the room, my eyes were greeted by a grand display of various drinks spread across a large table. It was apparent that Vanessa's bachelorette party was going to be anything but ordinary.

I decided to join in the festivities, grabbing a drink and immersing myself in ecstasy. I made a mindful endeavor not to dwell on the past or succumb to any feelings of sadness. It was a night to celebrate Vanessa's impending marriage, and I was determined to make the most of it.

Suddenly, the ambiance shifted, and a sudden silence enveloped the previously lively crowd. A sinking feeling crept into me, suggesting that there was no one waiting for me at the venue. Despite my intoxication, I had gone awry to even notice this earlier. Nonetheless, amidst the silence, I caught sight of a guy walking the same path as me. In my drunken state, I couldn't help but feel a flicker of concern, as if these guys were the kind who preyed on vulnerable people, exploiting and subjecting them to unexpected actions.

Yet, I reminded myself that this ranch was known for its strong safety standards and eco-friendly environment. Nevertheless, doubts lingered as I questioned whether a mere vigilante could truly ensure my safety as I made my way back to my room. The last thing I wanted was to awaken the next day with my dignity stripped away, diminishing the identity I held as a sophisticated and educated woman.

Just as these thoughts swirled in my head, the guy intercepted my path and asked, "Miss, are you okay?"

Caught off guard, I stumbled over my words, my intoxication making it difficult to articulate myself properly. "I'm... I'm fine, just a little tipsy. Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have revealed that I had been drinking," I stuttered nervously.

"Can I accompany you to your room? If it's alright with you?" The guy offered, his voice gentle yet persistent. "No. Absolutely not! I am perfectly capable of walking on my own. It's silly. We just crossed paths, and now I wouldn't like to bother you. Not at all. I'll manage just fine." I asserted, determined to prove my independence by improving my walking abilities and shooing him away.

"I insist. It's midnight, and I can't let you roam alone outside at this hour without any company. What is your room number?" The guy appeared somewhat intimidated by me, but his resolve remained unyielding.
