4. The Voices begin

experiments. The other numbers helped me escape during one of the experiments, but they sacrificed everything for me. Number fifty-seven teleported me here; I am the last number left alive. I can hear the snot being sucked back up and the tears being wiped by their shirts. As his mother gets up to hug me, the cup in front of me spills onto me. Everyone rushes out of the room in a panic because the clothes are brand name . As everyone leaves the room beside me, I look around the room. I stand up and take my shirt off because I wouldn't say I like the stickiness of it. as I head toward the kitchen to help look for supplies. The girl who said she was a big fan shouted from the far right, "I got a rag." She runs to the middle of the kitchen and bumps into me. "Ow, what the hell!" she says as she falls back, holding her head, and I can tell she is horrified by the scars on my body. I can see her eyes trembling, fearing what type of person is standing in front of her. Steve and his mother rush toward us, and I hear two distinct footsteps approaching us. But they halt when they see how I look with a shirt on, and I grab the rag from the girl. "Look, try and forget what you just saw, okay? I don't need your sympathy; the past is the past, okay?" I look at the mother. "Ma'am, what room is your shower in, and do you mind if I use the couch for a bed tonight?" I start walking away from the kitchen. I feel a small hand grab the end of my shirt. I hear Steve's voice from the kitchen: "Alex, let him go." "How come you didn't use the Dark Note!? are you going back to save them!?, Huh!" she screams, tears streaming down her cheeks. She got pulled off of me and dragged away; I continued to walk toward the bathroom. I opened the door to the bathroom and put my suitcase on the counter. I cut the water on, took off my clothes, and set myself inside the tub. As I'm letting the water bounce off me, all I can think about is how I will get back and maybe save them. I step outside the shower, cut the water, and grab some clothes from the suitcase. I exit the bathroom, and as I'm walking, I walk past Steve's room. I can tell it is Steve's because I can hear his voice from inside. I opened his door to see what he was saying, then gently pushed it open and called out his name. "Hey, Steve, can I come in?" He looks at me with a gloomy look. He nodded for me to come and sit on his bed, and I slowly walked over to his bed. Before I sat down, Steve stood up and got right in my face, saying, "Look, I want you never to use Darkouls. OK, look, people are scared of what you are." I can tell he's serious by the look in his eyes, and his hands shake, so I turn around and walk away from Steve. Before I left the room, I stooped in the doorway and said, "Look, I can't control nor understand what is happening to me." I start walking away from Steve's room, knowing that he thinks I'm crazy or something. Walking down the stairs, I realize it would be better if Darkouls never came to be. I get to the living room and see a blanket that barely covers the couch. I lift the blanket, and I slowly drift away. I confronted Darkouls once more and asked, "What in the Hell am I1?"He turns and looks at me with fire in his eyes and says, "First off, kid, you have no idea to whom you are talking." "Secondly, I told you that I'm sorry; what I've told you since we first met was a lie." I turn my head away out of pure anger at what Darkouls has told me, and I start shouting in the opposite direction of Darkouls. "So, who am I, and why the hell did you lie to me?" I exclaimed. could have used you to help save the others, but no." With eyes rolling down my face, I grab the demon by the shoulder and ask, "Do you know what it's like that people who helped me because I was defenseless died for me? I'm having nightmares of them." I can feel the cold touch of Darkouls; he lifts my head, and we meet each other's gaze. with a soft but impactful voice, "Kid, I've seen everything, but now that you have me, we can take back what you've lost and help them." I let go of the grip I had on him. I whispered under my breath so he could not hear my words. "No, I don't want revenge, and I don't need you." I can tell by Darkouks's voice that he was filled with rage. I wake up feeling remorse and smell food being cooked in the other direction from the couch
