2. A Home

.I woke up with a bright light blinding the hell out of me. I turned my head to the side and saw an older man in his 40s, maybe his 50s. "We were worried sick about you; we're glad you're awake," a voice to my left says. Are you ok? We tried to help you the best we could." I looked at the old man and told him, "Hey, I'm fine. I just got a little scratch. That's it. Where am I? Who are you all?" "My name is Yolka, and I am the principal of this school. "To my left is Maddie, the president of the student council, and last is the woman who is looking after you; her name is Susan. "I glanced at them on the edge of how I should feel about them, and Yolka started asking me some questions. "What is your name? How old are you? Where are you from? "As I told my story to them, their expressions went from concern to disgust. Maddie hugged me and started crying. "I'm so sorry for what happened, I didn't tell them that I may have powers just because I knew they wouldn't believe me. I began to rise to my feet. I stumbled, and Susan rushed over, saying, " don't need to push yourself." I looked over at her and gave her a smirk. I didn't know that I could show that type of emotion . I was shocked that I was able to showcase that. Yolka said, "Well, if you say you're fine with that smirk, then I think you should go to your first class. I wasn't good. I was used to being in so much more pain than this was just a scratch to me. Here is your schedule. I looked at the price of the paper that was handed to me. The words on the paper were very hard to read. I've never seen words like these before." Maddie" looked at the principal and said, "I can take him to his class." Maddie and I left the room, and as I followed Maddie through the hallways, I started to feel uneasy about my situation. These hallways were very different from the ones I'm used to. It looked as if the paint was fresh, it was the same color as me. Freakishly white it was weird for me to see walls that weren't drenched in blood. Or didn't have claw marks on them, while walking down the halls this feeling that these people were giving me made me feel hostile towards them. Why weren't they spitting on me?How come they didn't burst out laughing when I told them my story?. I quite couldn't understand why they didn't do these things to me, the kicking. Or spit down my throat, hell even laugh at just the state I'm in.Why were they being so nice?, We stopped in front of two openings with two different symbols above the openings. On the left was a symbol with a color I didn't recognize. The other one was the same color that I've seen several times, due to the amount of my arms being broken. Or played with. Maddie came to a halt in front of the restroom and tossed me a bag, telling me, "Go in there and put this on, OK, trust me. I went into the bathroom, took off my clothes, and put on my red and black uniform. As I came out to greet Maddie, "Now that's more like it; OK, don't try, and any girl is fine to stud," Maddie said. We keep walking; then we stop in front of a door with numbers 1–3. "Oh, Maddie, you got me a new student. Hello, dear, how are you?" said an older woman as she approached us. I looked at her face; she had a very nice smile and a good body for her age. I met her gaze and said, "Nice to meet you." I followed her in, saying, "Class, I would like you all to meet." "Dear, what is your name? You haven't told me yet," she says, looking down at me. "Dear, what is your name? You haven't told me yet," I say in a very faint and quiet voice so she can only hear it. "My name is Five," I said, and she returned to the class, saying, "OK, everybody, his name is Five, and he will be with us this year; Does anybody have any questions? "A medium-sized hand raises from the middle section: "Um yeah, what in the hell type of name is that?" The teacher says, "be nice, Andy," and a small female in the front row raises her hand. "Do you stay here and have a two-parent home?" I look back at her and speak. "It's okay," I tell the yellow-eyed girl in front of the class. "I have neither; I don't have a mom or a dad or a niece; I don't know what any of them are." I heard the class start to whistle something, but I couldn't hear them. The teacher awkwardly tells me to pick a seat; everybody turns their head when I come close to them. The last seat left was in the middle. I pulled the chair back and planted myself inside. The teacher started to write something on the board in a language I could not understand. The bell rings out through the halls. The teacher says, "Class, don't forget we've got a Friday test." As all my classmates left the room, I stayed because it was warm. "Oh dear, that bell means you can leave; OK, now remember school starts at 8 AM, OK," the teacher said softly. I got out of the nice warm seat and started walking down the hallways. I walked past two females wearing weird outfits, and as I walked by, one of them shouted out to me. "Hey, you're that new kid Maddy was talking about, aren't you?" I looked at the ground and spoke. "Yes, I'm new here," she says. The girl starts walking around me in circles. "Well, my name is Amber, and the very quiet woman is Jess." I look at both of them. Amber seems energetic, but her face is bright red just by looking at the ground. Amber stopped beside Jess and said, "I'm the cheerleader squad captain, and Jesse is the main soloist in our choir who has been in the top 5 for the past 15 years." I slowly turn my head to Amber to meet her gaze and ask her, "What is a soloist, and why are you being so nice to me?" They exchanged worried looks before Amber grabbed Jess and said, "Well, I hope you have a great time here. "They both took off in a hurry in the opposite direction, and as I walked down the hallway, I heard a woman crying. As I walked, the cries became louder and more depressing, and I turned the corner to see a man and a woman my age on the ground, crying in pain. The guy started to shout while smacking her in the face, and as I got closer, the female looked awfully a lot like 57. The guy started to shout, "I told you this before I owned you; you do what I say, and that's final." I got right next to the guy; I stopped him before hitting her again, and the guy got up in my face. "Hey Bud, this isn't about you, so let me go," I said as I pushed him off the girl, and he fell back about 2 feet. As she begins to run away, I turn my head and say, "Run 57! Run 57!" The pricker opens his mouth. "Hey, bitch, we are not done talking," I interrupted his sentence, "hey, little man, I don't know where you come from, but don't you dare lay a hand on 57 again." He looked at me, confused, and I turned my head to ensure the fifty-seven made it out before things got worse. I can tell by how the prick looks at me that he wants to fight me. He looks at me and then starts laughing. "Hey, I'm not sure who you are, but please tell Amy it is over between us, OK? "He turned around and began walking in the opposite direction; I, too, turned around and began walking in the opposite direction. I finally got outside and saw the girl I saved and an older woman holding onto her. The man rushed over to me and said, "Are you the one who saved my daughter from that asshole?!" I shuck my head towards the man and look at the females and older women. He tightly wrapped his arms around me and whispered in my ear, "Thank you." My daughter tells me you don't have a home; well, this is the least I can do," he said as he backed up and looked at his daughter and, I assume, at his wife. He puts his arm around my shoulder and shouts to his family, "Honey, it looks like we got another member. OK, can you pull the car around?" As we start to walk together, I feel lightheaded and pass out. I start to see a little girl's face and recognize who it is right off the bat. It was 35, screaming with tears in her eyes, "Why! how could you leave us, you sack of shit? How could you?" "No! I didn't leave you. I am sorry. I told you not to do it," I screamed as I awoke. The mother rushed in and embraced me, saying, " it's OK. It's OK. It's just a dream. We are here with you." I could feel the warmth of her touch; I drew back and looked up at her, seeing her concerned expression. I hear a stampede of footsteps down the hall, and the older man rushes in. "What the hell, is everyone okay?" the woman asks, looking at him and then back at me. "I believe he had a bad dream; anyway, dinner is ready; come downstairs and eat, okay," I get out of bed. I begin walking down the hallway and notice the family photos—the older man, the older woman, and what appear to be three children. At the end of the hall, I can hear a bunch of people talking. I walk into the living room, and I can feel the atmosphere change; the man has stood up. "Well, have a seat with us, son; we've got plenty," I said, approaching the table. I pulled the chair back and placed myself inside it; she stared at me. "How rude of me; allow me to introduce you to my family," my name is Fred, and the one in front of you is my wife, Mary; the one next to Mary is Amy; she is about your age; I guess, and the little one next to you is Tiffany." I looked at the mom and the daughters; their faces were filled with joy, smiling from check to check. Fred started to sit back down, and Mary started to hand out some meat. The hunk of meat was at least an inch thick, so I started to pick it up with my index finger. I picked up the meat with my hands, but Mary stopped me before I could take a bite, saying, "No sweaty, use the knife and fork to eat, OK."I put the meat back on the plate and grabbed the knife. As I started to cut the meat with the knife, Fred started asking me questions. "Would you mind telling us where you're from, five?" can we change your name because it sounds like I'm talking about a lab rat?" "How about you pick me a name, and then I'll tell you my story?" I turned to Fred. Fred looked around the table and said, "Well, how about John?" I remember the flashback of me killing my sister while she said, "Why! John?" I yelled out, "Anything but John!" I can feel the awkwardness filling the room. Fred and I meet each other's gaze; he can tell by my eyes that the name John is bad. "OK, John, you're a no, but how about Marcus? Is that okay with you?" Mary said, looking at Fred, then back at me. I nodded, and Mary clapped her hands out of pure happiness. "Well, dear, can you tell us about you now?"
