“Critical condition”
"I will go find a doctor" said Saul, who was also there at the port. Over the past month, he had trained Lego, and their relationship had improved. Seeing him in such a state made him sad.
"No, it's too dangerous. You know they sent more than 40 ships to find our hideout. If you do, it will be very easy to discover you" Yamamoto said, shaking his head.
"Where is he now?" Yamamoto asked, referring to Lego.
"I took him to my house" Clover replied. It was better for a critically ill patient to be in a house rather than on a ship.
"Let's go to the village; I'll take a look at him" Yamamoto said as he began to walk down the rough road.
Everyone followed him, and in a few minutes, they arrived at the village.
There were a total of 10 houses in the village, including Bokuden and Apis's house, not counting the library and other abandoned buildings. Yamamoto had the Marines fix up all the houses to ensure they were in good condition and wouldn't fall apart.
Including Yamamoto, Bokuden, Apis, and the other archaeologists, there were a total of 13 people. Except for Clover, two people lived in each house. However, now Lego was staying at Clover's house.
So, out of the 10 houses, 7 were in use, and 3 remained vacant.
"Those 3 houses are free, decide how to use them" said Yamamoto as he pointed to each house so that Dragon, Tesoro, and the others have where to spend the night.
"First thing tomorrow morning we will talk better. It's already night and I must see the state of Lego" said Yamamoto looking towards Dragon, Ivankov, and Kuma.
"It's okay, waiting a day is no problem" nodded Dragon.
"Hi Fire Demon, it's nice to meet you!" said Ivankov smiling and showing off his full set of teeth.
"Likewise... thanks for saving Olvia and the others" said Yamamoto with a strange expression.
Kuma also greeted him, and Yamamoto greeted him back thanking him for saving Lego.
After that Dragon, Ivankov, and Kuma said goodbye to everyone and chose a house to rest.
"S-sir fire demon we can sleep in a house too?" asked Ramses while stammering.
"Mm? Of course, they can choose whichever they like the most" replied Yamamoto.
"Th-thank you! You're a great person Fire Demon!" exclaimed Ramses and the other 4 in unison with tears in their eyes.
*Then don't call me a fire demon...* thought Yamamoto with his eyes rolling.
Ramses and the others quickly made their way to their new home. They were very happy; they had always slept outdoors and were treated like trash, so their gratitude was very genuine.
"Well, Stella, let's go to the remaining house" said Tesoro, yawning. Today had been the wildest day he had experienced since he faced a criminal gang all by himself.
"Yes..." said Stella, looking at Yamamoto with surprise. Ever since she saw him in the Kingdom of Ilisia, she had been judging him as a fierce criminal. But he had saved both her and Tesoro, and he hadn't asked for anything in return until now.
Not only that, when they arrived on this island, she saw how two girls were happy to see his return and called him "grandpa." Even the other people on this island treated him very well, and none of them seemed like criminals.
"I... I'm so sorry!" Stella said, standing in front of Yamamoto. She felt remorseful for judging the person who had saved her.
*What...?* thought Yamamoto, not understanding what was happening.
"Thank you for saving me and Tesoro and for giving us a place to sleep" Stella said, tears in her eyes.
"Uh... yeah, it's fine. It's not a big deal" Yamamoto responded, not expecting Stella's gratitude.
Stella bowed goodbye to Yamamoto, then quickly followed Tesoro into the house.
"You did well to save those people" Clover said with a smile.
"Yes..." said Yamamoto with a blank expression.
Then Yamamoto went with Clover to check on Lego's condition.
Seeing the state he was in Yamamoto frowned. Lego was lying on a bed full of bandages all over his body. His eyes were closed showing his unconsciousness.
"What happened to him? I thought he only had bullet wounds" asked Yamamoto not understanding how his whole body was full of bandages.
In theory, if he only had bullet wounds and Kuma came to save him he shouldn't be in this deplorable state.
"Well... he didn't just have bullet wounds... Kuma told me that when he arrived, he saw how a marine was torturing him to get information about us out of him" said Clover frowning.
*And they call themselves justice?* thought Yamamoto incredulously.
"Do the others know?" he asked again.
"No. It didn't occur to them to ask since when they saw it they were too sad to think about it" replied Clover.
"In this state, we need an expert doctor if we want him to be saved, do you have anyone in mind?" asked Yamamoto.
"Mm, the only one that comes to mind is Dr. Kureha" replied Clover after thinking about it for a while.
Yamamoto instantly knew who Clover was referring to.
Kureha was a doctor with great abilities and Chopper's future mentor.
"I had forgotten about that old hag" commented Yamamoto. He noticed that, in the memories of this body's original soul, he had met Kureha together with Clover.
"It will be a difficult journey. Drum Island is located in Paradise" added Yamamoto.
Drum Island is a winter island located in Paradise, the first half of the Grand Line.
And it is where the Drum Kingdom is located, where Kureha currently lives.
"Yes, time is worth gold" Clover said with a frown. At first, he wouldn't have cared so much about this ex-Marine, but he had given his life to save his people, so he didn't want to let him die.
"Tomorrow we'll talk about it better with everyone else. Now I'm tired from the trip, goodbye" Yamamoto said in a tired tone as he said goodbye to Clover.
He was back and already had a full calendar. First, he had to talk to Dragon and the other two about what he supposed to be the creation of the Revolutionary Army. And now he had limited time to find a doctor and save Lego's life.
Besides, he had no plans to go to sleep even though it was nighttime and he was tired.
He would use tonight to complete the emergency mission at once, he was only 0.1% short, so he was confident to make the breakthrough tonight.
