Chapter 23: “New strength”
Yamamoto looked at this message with a look of incomprehension, and the system instantly explained this message.
[The host is too weak to start the main mission so an emergency mission will be activated... ]
*Too weak...?* thought Yamamoto with a frown as he read the system message.
[ Starting Emergency Mission: Due to your lack of strength to start the main mission, you must get 15% of the progress in Shigekuni Yamamoto's Genryūsai template to continue. Time limit 3 months. ]
[ Warning: If you don't complete this emergency mission in 3 months, you will lose the system and all that goes with it ]
*What the hell? Why such a severe punishment? thought Yamamoto nervous about this sudden mission.
Taking a deep breath, he calmed down and began to calculate in his head how he could manage to complete this mission in 3 months. First of all, his progress in the current staff is 8.6%, however, he still has to distribute the 13 skill points he saved which would make this progress go up.
I didn't know how the system calculated the progress in the template, I knew that it increased if one of his stats including devil fruit mastery increased, but I didn't know how much it increased exactly for each point gained.
So the first thing he will do is raise the 13 skill points he currently has, and then see how much his progress goes up. Seeing that the banquet was not ready yet, he opened the status window ready to raise his stats.
He decided to raise his spiritual power which was the lowest of all the stats, plus this is paramount for higher-level fights. He used 4 skill points, bringing it up to 5 points and leaving himself with 9 points remaining. The instant he raised the 4 points, he felt a strange sensation in his body, although it was not so unfamiliar to him, as previously when using the 50% strength cards he had spiritual energy.
*Although it is not much, most people never use it in their life," thought Yamamoto.
After this, he thought it best to focus on 1 or 2 stats to excel in those areas instead of wanting them all to be balanced. So he chose physical strength which was his highest stat next to defense. He decided to go up 5 points to physical strength, going up to 18 points.
Instantly he could feel his muscle fibers tighten and strengthen, filling him with almost electric energy. He noticed that his muscles had now grown, it was a magical sensation, *Not bad at all...* thought Yamamoto without so much excitement for the sudden mission that endangered his powerful template and everything else.
With the last 4 points, he decided to focus on defense which was also his highest statistic, adding the 4 points without thinking, reaching 17 points. He instantly felt his bones getting thicker and stronger, even his wrinkled skin was more durable than before.
*If this stat is taken to the maximum, will I be a kind of Kaido? thought Yamamoto with some expectation, shaking his head he looked at his new status sale which was this:

At first, he felt good when he saw his new strength, but this was short-lived as he spent 13 skill points to increase his strength from 8.6% to 10.4%, i.e. 1.8%. To reach the objective of the mission he needs 15% of the staff, lacking approximately 4.6%.
By spending 13 skill points he only gained 1.8% which if multiplied by two gives 3.6% so he will need more than 26 skill points to complete this mission.
Approximately he would need about 31 or 32 skill points to complete it, *If I just train I would have to raise 10 or 11 points in a month in one of the stats or distributed* thought Yamamoto while analyzing how to proceed to complete this annoying mission.
He knew that raising 10 or 11 points in a single month based on training was something very difficult, if not impossible, since the more his strength increases, the more difficult it will be to progress. He knows this very well, since in his previous life he dedicated a large part of it to the gym, knowing that a beginner in the first months can have many muscle gains, but as he goes up his level the harder it will be to progress.
On the other hand, if only by training for 1 month he manages to get 10 points in some statistic in 5 years or a little less he would become the most powerful person in the world and he knows that this will not be that easy.
The other option he has was to leave the island in search of a mission or in search of powerful enemies that by killing them will give him skill points, obviously for this last option he will need to use his last 50% strength card and the deadly blow card.
So the most viable option was to get some side mission like Ryu's and get the skill points this way. However, doing an off-island mission still involved a lot of dangers, as the World Government is looking for him and there are surely a lot of powerful people in West Blue looking for his trail.
While Yamamoto was thinking about which option would be the best, he noticed how someone called him, "Grandpa Yamamoto, the food is ready" said little Robin while touching Yamamoto's arm.
"Well come on" said Yamamoto in a kind tone as he got up and walked with Robin to the campfire with everyone else.
Since he saved Robin from Nelson and Eric, he felt their relationship getting closer, even calling her grandfather in front of him without as much embarrassment as before, Yamamoto nodded in satisfaction at this, although it was kind of weird to be called that by one of the main characters, and more so when his mind was that of a 20 year old.
At the campfire the meat from the Sea King they caught a few days ago was ready, everyone was happily celebrating having a new place to study and finding a new island to call home.
Apis was very happy to have Robin and more people on her island, as before she was always alone with her grandfather Bokuden and had no friends her age or a mother figure like Olvia.
Saul asked Yamamoto if the 7 marines they had as prisoners could participate in the banquet and eat the delicious meat of the Sea King. At this Yamamoto agreed since these past few days these marines worked very hard and did not create any kind of trouble, even so, he would not take out their wives and they would continue to sleep in the ship's cells.
Yamamoto realized that Saul these days got along better with these marines, just like him they were tired of having to obey the orders of their superior, even if they were more evil than those of a pirate. They just didn't dare to reveal themselves as Saul did.
Although this was because the Marines were afraid that Nelson would use their families as hostages or something if they betrayed him. Saul told this to Yamamoto and Yamamoto didn't think much of it, as long as they kept working they wouldn't go hungry or cold.
Finally, the banquet ended and Yamamoto was the first to leave, as he had to plan his next days, not to waste a single one.
*What will I do...* thought Yamamoto as he sat down on one of the chairs in his room.
After thinking for a few seconds, he took out a notebook and a pen and wrote the following: Month 1 - Training.
He decided that the first month would be dedicated to training, at the end of this month he would see how many points he managed to raise, and if he achieved 10 in a month, he would follow this path, if not, he would have to leave the island in search of an adventure.
He made this decision because the logic of this world is not the same as that of his world.
He has never trained in this world, as he has only been here for a few days, so he has to test the limits of his body. Also, thanks to the status window he can focus on one area like strength, and see how many points he goes up in this month.
A few seconds later he started to write more things in the notebook, this will be his next training plan and he will write down everything here. He decided to focus on 3 areas, Endurance, Speed, and Spiritual Power.
He chose these 3 stats since they were the lowest stats he had, so his growth can be higher and easier, instead of trying to increase physical strength which might take more time, since it is his highest stat.
*I should have killed Kuzan and Akainu..." thought Yamamoto with some annoyance. If he had done this he wouldn't be in as much trouble as he is now and his system wouldn't be hanging by a thread.
Since it was his first day here and he was able to see two famous anime characters, he decided to let them go. He did not think that this decision would affect him in the future.
Since he came to this world he had killed many people, but this did not cause him great discomfort, he did not know if it was thanks to the insertion of Yamamoto's template or another reason, even so, he felt that he had no choice after all they wanted to kill him first.
After finishing the last details of the training plan, he went to sleep to start tomorrow as soon as possible.
