"It's strange, where did he go? There's no one in the kitchen, and there's no breakfast either," she murmured, rushing upstairs and entering the bathroom.
In no time, she was dressed and had her makeup done, holding her bag as she headed downstairs.
She drove to the company.
That stingy person, getting mad and not making food. If you didn't want to cook, you should tell me. I will order takeout. So annoying, my stomach is growling.
Arriving at the company, she walked towards her office.
"Will he ask Mike to bring me breakfast from Chinchol Manor?" she muttered to herself while organizing some documents.
Knock knock.
A moment of excitement, she stood up and walked over to open the door.
Sure enough, it was Mike, but his hands were empty. It seemed breakfast was out of the question. The joy that Amelia had when she opened the door slowly faded as her eyes shifted to his empty hands.
"What's up?"
"Is Mr. Frost coming today? There are two contracts that need his review and signature, along with his input."
Amelia looked at Mike puzzled, tugged at the corner of her mouth, and said, "How would I know? Why don't you ask him yourself?" She rolled her eyes and walked back to her seat.
Mike, surprised by her reaction, wondered what happened. Did they have a fight?
"I'm not avoiding calling him. I just don't want to disturb him in case he's on his way and gets angry. That's why I asked you," Mike explained, slowly walking towards her desk. With a gossipy expression, he leaned forward and lowered his voice, "Did you have a fight?"
Amelia lifted her head, glanced at him, and thought, What a nosy guy. Is it written on my face that we had a fight?
"Mind your own business. I have work to do," Amelia's tone changed from gentle to serious. Her face turned unpleasant as she lowered her head and started reading the contracts.
"Looks like they did have a fight. I better be careful today. I never know how the CEO might react," he muttered while leaving Amelia's office.
Strange, not in the office. Where could he have gone?
Leaving early, returning late, disappeared early in the morning.
Amelia's mood became very irritated, and she slammed the contract onto the table.
She felt unpleasant the whole morning. Rosetta also didn't come to work. Could they be together?
"Hello, Ms. Sophia's office, bring me a glass of ice water." Feeling restless, she wanted to have a glass of ice water to clear her mind and stop thinking so much. After drinking it, she could focus on her work.
Knock knock.
A knocking sound, and a cup of milk was placed on the table.
"I asked for ice water, why did you bring me milk? I want to drink ice water." Amelia looked at the milk with great displeasure and pushed it away, demanding a replacement.
The receptionist looked at her with some difficulty, plastered a smile on her face, and said, "Ms. Sophia, I'm sorry. Mr. Frost instructed us to bring you milk, saying that you can't drink ice water."
Amelia shook her head in surprise and looked at the receptionist. "Mr. Frost is here?"
"Yes, I bumped into him. Mr. Frost asked me to replace it with milk."
A hint of joy flashed in Amelia's eyes. She still put up a tough act and looked at the receptionist, saying, "Give me the ice water, don't listen to Mr. Frost."
"Can you drink ice water? Don't worry about it, just leave," Ethan walked in and sat across from her. Amelia glanced at him and lowered her head. "You're too meddlesome."
"You can't drink cold beverages during your period, and you should drink the milk while it's hot. If it cools down, don't drink it, just pour it out." He sat there with a domineering attitude, his deep eyes staring straight at her. He seemed determined to follow through on his word.
Her period? He actually noticed that.
"You..." Amelia muttered while picking up the milk and drinking it, looking annoyed. Stubborn as she was, she understood that even though he had such an expression and tone, he genuinely cared for her well-being.
"That's better. Focus on your work now, I'll be going back," Ethan said.
"Where are you going?"
As soon as he finished his sentence, she blurted out without thinking. After asking, she felt a bit impulsive. She asked too quickly, as if she cared about his whereabouts.
"Back to my office." With a cold and proud tone, he glanced at her before turning around and leaving.
"Amelia, you're so embarrassing." Saying that, she lightly patted her own mouth and continued working.
The glass of milk had a better effect than ice water, calming her down and allowing her to concentrate on her work.
It wasn't the milk that made a difference, it was Ethan. He made her feel at ease.
"Hey, bring another glass of milk to Ms. Sophia's office."
Hanging up the phone, her eyes darted around, a mischievous smile playing on her lips.
"How many glasses have I had? One, two, three, four. It's so awkward, I can't drink anymore." She counted on her fingers and then covered her face with her hand.
In the past, Ethan used to prepare breakfast. Today, she came to work on an empty stomach and had been feeling hungry.
Ethan saw this scene through the surveillance camera and couldn't help but smile, letting out a laugh.
Then he watched the receptionist bring the milk to Amelia's office on the screen.
"It seems this silly girl is hungry because she skipped breakfast."
Saying that, he stood up, straightened his suit, and walked out of his office.
"Mr. Frost."
Mike watched him walk away, feeling puzzled. They had a fight. In the morning, Ms. Sophia was still upset and throwing a tantrum. How come the CEO seemed fine and in a good mood? Did they not actually have a fight?
Shaking his head, Mike walked away.
Knock knock.
Before she could answer, Ethan pushed the door open and walked in.
"What are you doing? Why didn't you wait for me to let you in and just pushed the door open? It's impolite," Amelia glanced at him, appearing displeased. Not making breakfast and disappearing without a word early in the morning wasn't acceptable.
Ethan raised an eyebrow slightly and nodded gently, "Yes, Ms. Sophia makes a valid point. I was just too hungry. I've had several cups of coffee this morning, but it hasn't helped. I'm going downstairs to eat. Are you coming?"
Several cups? Looking at the glasses on the table, she felt a bit awkward.
Amelia looked up at him. "Are you talking about yourself or me?"
Ethan stood up, cleared his throat, and said, "Of course I'm talking about myself. I want to go eat. You can join me or continue working."
After speaking, he walked out directly.
Should I go or not? My stomach is growling.
Having meals on such a regular schedule, it feels strange to skip one.
Amelia stood up and quickly followed behind him. She walked behind him, pretending to be angry despite feeling happy inside.
"You didn't have breakfast either. So why did you get up so early in the morning?" Amelia's tone carried a hint of reproach.
