Chapter 80: Paying No Attention to Trivial Matters

Mrs. Jones persuasively advised, and Rosetta went through these words in her mind. She thought about Sophia and how she wasn't as understanding and caring towards Ethan. Why was he so good to her?

Dissatisfied, she picked up a neatly wrapped apple from the side and took a bite. It was sweet.

Sweet apples were delicious. As she chewed, she pondered over her mother's words and found some truth in them. Although Sophia lacked understanding and gentleness, she was indeed better than herself.

"Mom, do you think love slips away faster when we try to hold onto it tightly, like sand slipping through our fingers? So, should I take a step back?" She finished her sentence and took another bite of the apple, savoring its sweetness on her lips and teeth.

"Yes, you're not a foolish child. Your personality is as straightforward as a ruler, and you act even more directly. You need to be smarter in the future. Nobody likes someone who is pushy and troublesome," her mother responded.

After listening to her mother's words, she contemplated them carefully, nodding slightly. Little by little, she could understand and make some changes.

...

"Hello, Mr. Frost."

"Hello, Mr. Frost."

Entering the company, Ethan walked with a graceful and agile stride, appearing somewhat anxious as he hurriedly headed toward Amelia's office.

Knock, knock.

Who could it be? Hopefully not that annoying Rosetta. After her frequent visits yesterday, whenever someone knocked, her first instinct was to think it was her.

"Come in."

The feeling of a familiar figure entering made her look up. It was him, back again. She felt both glad and slightly annoyed.

"You finished your work so quickly. I thought it would take until tonight." Best if he didn't come back even at night.

Amelia's tone was calm and indifferent, but deep inside, she was complaining. He lied to her about his whereabouts when she asked.

Ethan walked up to her desk, sat down, and stared at her. There was a gentle look in his eyes, tinged with a hint of weariness.

"Did you have a good lunch? I saw you driving your car downstairs."

"Yes, I drove here myself so that it wouldn't inconvenience you if you had something urgent. I had a great lunch with Mike."

Mike, right. Ethan asked Mike to take her out for lunch and drive him home.

But hearing that they had lunch together made him feel uncomfortable.

"Okay, then you can continue with your work. I'll go to my office."

He stood up and walked out. Amelia felt like there was a stone weighing on her heart. Rosetta's seductive voice seemed to still echo in her ears.

...

The Harper Villa.

"Dear, you came back alone today. Andrew didn't even accompany you. I think you should stay at home for a few days and not rush back," Delilah said as she held Bella's hand.

Bella's smile froze slightly as she listened, her expression becoming somewhat stiff.

This once arrogant and demanding young lady had encountered so many unfortunate events, making it difficult for her to regain her previous vivaciousness. Even the mischievous delight that used to light up her face seemed to have disappeared for a long time.

"Mom, I feel like I should go back. That's where my home is."

"Yes, Bel knows what's right. Just got married, and she should go back," Charles chimed in, walking down the stairs. His voice carried a firm stubbornness as if the words "go back" was an order.

Delilah turned her head and glanced at him. After all, Bella was her daughter, her own daughter. How could she bear to see her going through such difficult times without feeling heartbroken?

"Dad, I'll go back now."

"Well, you're my daughter. Remember, those who achieve great things don't get caught up in trivial matters, let alone care about temporary setbacks. Keep your gaze far ahead. You are now the mistress of Steele Group. After going back, you should take charge of what needs to be done."

It sounded like both consolation and command, with each word carrying weight. The gentle tone contained more seriousness.

Bella stood up and nodded. Her eyes shimmered, as her father's words struck a chord deep within her heart.

"Mom, Dad, I'll go back now. I'll visit you when I have time."

"Bel, I have agreed to help Andrew sell off the excess the building materials in his possession as a favor to him. We no longer have any cooperation with Grand Group, so there's no need to worry."

Bella let out a sigh of relief, gently closing her eyes. Her father was right. With no more cooperation with Grand Group, the interests of Steele Group and Harper Group were now paramount. She should focus on doing well and not dwell on useless sorrow.

"Mom, Dad, I understand. I'm going back."

Charles's profound gaze carried expectations, and a faint smile appeared on his face as he nodded deeply to her.

As long as Bella was willing to cooperate, Steele Group would sooner or later become a part of Harper Group.

The Steele Villa.

"Where is Bella?" Andrew returned home to find only the housemaid cleaning in the living room. Bella was nowhere to be seen.

The housemaid put down the blanket she was holding and approached Andrew respectfully. "Mr. Steele, Mrs. Steele went back to her parents' house."

Among the household staff, the housemaid feared Andrew the most. When he got angry, he would throw things and punish the staff. Michael, on the other hand, always maintained a gentle demeanor.

Upon hearing this, Andrew's displeasure was evident in his eyes. He took a deep breath to suppress his irritation. "Carry on with your work."

"Yes, Mr. Steele."

The housemaid left nervously, and Andrew walked upstairs alone. He entered the bedroom, took off his coat, and stretched out on the bed. With his gaze fixed on the ceiling, his expression revealed annoyance.

"Mrs. Steele, you're back. Mr. Steele was just asking about you," the maid said.

"Where is he?"

"He's upstairs."

Bella took a deep breath, suppressing her nervousness, and slowly made her way to the bedroom upstairs.

Andrew was still lying in the same position. When he saw her enter, he smirked coldly. "I thought you would stay at the Harper villa and never come back."

Bella remained silent. She took off her coat and walked towards the dressing table. Looking at herself in the mirror, the silence in her eyes dissipated, and traces of her former radiance began to appear.

Bella, gather yourself and make those who have mistreated you pay the price for their actions. They deserve no happiness.

"You must be deaf, I was talking to you," Andrew shouted at her.

Bella picked up an eyebrow pencil and started doing her makeup. After finishing, she applied a bright red lipstick and smiled satisfactorily at her reflection in the mirror.

She slowly approached Andrew, parting her lips gently as a smile formed on her face.

"I heard you. This is my home, why would I stay at my parents' house?"

Andrew stared at her carefully. Her makeup was beautifully done, emanating a certain charm, and the bright red lipstick stood out prominently.

"This is your home? Haha, you're right. So, it is the interests of Steele Group that you should care about," Andrew said, staring at her strangely.
